  • ATI HD2400 xt video card, 128MB

    o_O

  • LAGFEST!!! YAY!

  • if u want to run at 60 fps with the highest graphics settings jut put the screen resolution to lowest trust me it works it just looks a little pixelated

  • Oh no. Don't turn off the shadows. It looks terrible.

  • using crysis on an i mac is like finding a super model that is very good at halo

  • at that res the screen gotta look like fucking porridge.

  • Using an iMac to play Crysis is like using a Stationwagon to win a drag race. Both ideas are stupid.

  • Or like using a PC to make music or a movie.

  • Yeah, all of which can be done better on a PC with ProTools, Sonar Producer Edition, an Auzentech or X-Fi sound card (which trumps Mac ten times over), and PowerDirector or Ulead Video Studio which do the exact same job as Final Cut Pro.

Don't forget, the entire U.S. Electrical Grid is run entirely on Windows-based PCs.

  • Dude you obviously never experienced the music/movie industry.

I own both Mac AND PC unlike most people.

  • @MaximusCerberus not really, i don't no why people dis Mac's because they don't have many games? But in-fact they get the same ones as a PC just a few months later =/ + the gaming quality is much better on mac than a PC and smother unless you buy a 2k pc =/

  • @MrRastaAssassin are you fucking retarded? mac has smoother gameplay??!?HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH my $900 pc runs crysis at all very high at a solid 20fps while my friends $2000 imac struggles to even get that fps on medium

  • @TitusRTeh1337Bassist No, if you use "retarded" in this situation then i think you are=/ I play my games on something called a PS3 and I use my Imac for Music and Work what there designed for,, i am just saying from what i have experienced games seem better in a imac.

  • @MrRastaAssassin then obvioulsly you have never played games on a real gaming pc.

  • @TitusRTeh1337Bassist I can quite happily say I have not.

  • @MrRastaAssassin I don't have Mac OS X nor Windows 7 (I have Windows 7 but don't use it frequently) and I can still enjoy some games :P

    Like Crysis lol

  • omg... at 1:16 you can see in the screen that there is nobody playing this is just a recorded video

  • @sykkeloli didn't hear?, did anybody tell you? there is a new cable to play the games with just using your mind....it is called iLAZY..... ;)

  • HAHA ILAZY :P

  • I sit off to the side to try to minimize the amount of my face that gets into the video. It's a personal identity quirk I have.

  • I thought so too, but theres another person to the right wearing glasses who seems to be playing.

  • That person with the glasses is me. The other person is my brother, watching.

  • I thought you said you turned shadows OFF!? I clearly see all shadows.

  • I Turn them on and off multiple times over the coarse of the video.

  • I see, well is there a significant performance loss or increase from doing that? Because from the looks of it, WITH shadows on, it runs great looking about 20-30FPS. I'd like to know because I have an HD 4350 with superior CPU/RAM relative to yours (not trying to say this or that is better by any means)..... but from what I read, the 4350 is (on paper) better than the HD 2400XT with 80 stream processors, 55nm process, etc. ......so I'm HOPING I could ATLEAST get equivalent performance.

  • Well... with shadows on the mac gets 10-20 fps. I turn them off, and it turns into 20-30. See, traditional shadow rendering makes the gpu render the scene for your camera view, and the geometry for the light source's point of view, and writes that into a shadow map, and that's why in some games shadows look pixelated. But on weaker GPUs, this can really make them take a hit. Also, lack of video memory (frame buffer) is a major downfall there, too.

  • hmm, I see..... so I guess it would be recommended to play without shadows on my HD 4350 for now til I get a better card. But question..... I'm not sure how much you are into "tweaking" the config cvars of Crysis as others....but would you suppose I could get much more optimal performance WITH shadows ON by using console commands, effectively disabling Crysis's r_shadowjittering to a value of "0" making shadows "pixelated" and not "soft"?

  • Here's how I get shadows without much performance decrease: In the game settings, I set shadows to minimum (off). I then load a level, and enter e_shadows 1 into the console. This only would give primitive shadows, without any special shaders applied to them. On my mac, this would only be about a 2-5 fps drop. Keep in mind: 800x480, all medium (with shadows) gave me average 17 fps, It looks like the 4350 does close to double that at the same settings.

  • also, you can change the resolution of the shadow map, which was a major impact on performance. 256x256 looked decent, and was playable, 512x512 was also playable, but anything higher started to really lag. 1024x1024 (standard Very High shadow resolution) killed mine. I could put it up to say... 8192x8192 (about 1fps) but the shadows looked so sharp, it was unreasonable :P. The console command for shadow resolution is e_shadows_max_texture_size=###

  • Holy shit that looks so good, and it's not even meant to be a gaming machine. Aside from this Mac vs. PC nredy bullshit, this looks really good coming from someone with a PC.

  • Torrent > you.

  • no showdows ^^

  • why would you pay for an antivirus program? I use avira antivir, works excellent and it's free... How is the mac superior? you can do everything you can on the PC on the mac and much more.

  • Is that the best excuse you got to not own a PC? haha your so full of shit, i haven't got a virus in like 9million years on my pc, if you get a virus ur dumb and don't understand which pages to visit and how to get a proper antivirus program, you can get viruses on macs also lol...

  • yes but thats not as common as on the pc :P

  • homomac

  • uknow... u could always buy a pc and stop try to play crysis on ur homomac lmao ^^

  • You should be playing crysis like on a 4890 1gig or crossfire the latest 5970. The imacs only have the 4850 for the new imacs? Thats pitiful. Get a pc instead and start playing on a 5870 with half the price of an Imac.

  • You cannot play a game with shadows on? omg your mac must sucks. My laptop pc can run games on highest definition and shadows on with no lag. it looks like I wont be getting a mac any time soon.

  • I have this model too. I don't know why, if I turn on shadows, the fps goes down from 25 fps to 13. This video card absolutly can't handle shadows, but only 2 fps difference between low and very high water.

  • windows gives you direct x11 which helps improve graphics. If you like shadows, you can try to lower the other settings and increase the shadow resolution. For what I know, macs are great for multitasking but they suck on graphic resolution.

  • Yes, thats true. Macs good for everything expect games.

  • mr dumbfuck, he is using a 2007 system, if he were to buy anew one with the i7 and the new card then wtf he could fuckin run it. 1 more fucking thing, an imac is a desktop and a screen all in one which is most probably 70% thinner than ure fucking gayass pc.

  • if u want fucking performance than get a mac pro and compare it to ure shitty pc, i have no doubt that the mac will win

  • You are right sir. No doubt the mac pro would definitely win, though it is expensive it is worth the money. Needless to say pc's offer you what people may call "junk" but nevertheless useful hardware for a price that is in the range of any people. In that case, it is worth saying that pc's are better for gaming because the price is low and the graphics card is powerful but it gives the laptop a short life span. On multitasking macs win, Good day to you sir.

  • i bet u still get breast fed by yo mama

  • i bet u suck urs from ure grandma

  • wtf? why do you keep talking about my grandma loser!! you are a pervert and a fagot

  • my mac

  • Don't expect to go much higher than high :S. that's like a 9600 in there.

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!!! This is helping me prove mac's are awesome not some shit!

  • people usually say that macs are bad because of the os it runs..because the os isnt really meant for playing good games its more for buisness..but as u can see in description he's using windows 7 beta build 7100

  • my rig:

    6 Gigs of Ram

    GTX 295

2 TB Storage, 300gb Boot Drive. Putting a 32gb ssd in for OS in a month or two.

  • have phun pwning people.

  • 8800 GT 512 mb ram (:

proccessor: intel quad core Q6600 2.4 GHz

    3 gb ram woot

  • 15 fps average lol

    Run #1- DX9 1152x864 AA=4x, 32 bit test, Quality: High ~~ Overall Average FPS: 32.635

    Antialiasing 4 x 1152 x 864 resolution, high quality, average FPS 32 (:

  • Perhaps this video's name is overkill... "amazing" ????

    My new computer: asus g51vx-a1

    Run #1- DX9 1152x864 AA=4x, 32 bit test, Quality: High ~~ Overall Average FPS: 28.015

you still beat me. but not by much lol. what vid card u got?

  • i just overclocked my gpu by about 10%: the same crysis test scored 34fps!

  • Thanks I have HD 2400 XT 128 mb too!! I try that! Did you share your system RAM to Video RAM?

  • Ya I did

  • Damn I have only 1004mb RAM..

  • I used to have that much ram. But with vista it was hell, so I bought 2 more gigabytes from crucial. Huge performance increase.

  • QUestion: How did you share the RAM with the video card?

    Thanks!

  • Well, I didn't try to get it shared. Windows did it for me. I don't think xp does it automatically, but vista and windows 7 do.

  • looks great

  • thanks for posting this. my imac now has 3gb of ram too. I use a cvar group from this one guys video and i get an auto.cfg from another guy's video because the cvar group kinda makes the textures longer to appear but with the other config fixes it. i run crysis in DX9 and modded the config to look very high (and tweaked some other stuff make it look better with no performance loss). my rez is 1360-768

    DX10 i get 20-30 fps

    DX9 i get 24-35 fps FTW

If you want to experiment using my tweaks tell me
