  • I don't understand how they're not all in complete awe. What an amazing performance.

  • dude whos the violenist chick? she is hott!

  • @dudewtf1776 I think thats his sister.

  • Actually, if you listen to the lyrics carefully, it's a joyful song....not a somber one, and ther person that went WHOOO in the middle of the song.......maybe they were just feeling the power of the Holy Spirit, and you can't fault them for that. So much for tolerance.

  • the mans a genius

  • This version of the song rules.

  • The song is fantastic but I wish that dumbass in the audience kept her damn mouth shut.

Nobody needs to hear you go "WHOOOO!" in the middle of a somber, Iron & Wine song.

  • Ooooh I like the harmonies in this version but I prefer the song at a slower pace.

  • this may be my favorite song of all time. and the first time i heard it was 7:57 ago.

  • my god i can't believe i skipped out on bonnaroo this year. I WILL be there next year and you better be as well Sam!

  • is it just me or does the guy at 2:04 not seem to belong. he doesn't look like much of a rocker at all.

  • @marsman888 really? i thought the slide guitar guy killed it

  • @barrytam20 i agree with you 100% it also adds a kind of jam band feel to the song. Really like as i think sam is not credited enough with his musicianship and overall simplicity and catchiness to his chords and melodies

  • Dude, this is like...life changing.

  • Heh, Iron & Wine 2008 covers Iron & Wine 2002.

Great song and great performance! Utterly unexpected though.

  • I'm pretty sure at least 40,000 of these views are from me

  • this version takes all the sadness out of it...damn...totally different vibe all jazzed up.

  • Awesome songwriter

  • It may just be a sibling thing, but Sarah and Sam's voices harmonize gorgeously.

  • Am I the only one that teared up and cried? :(

  • @catsaretheshit Definitely not.

  • @catsaretheshit nah, i literally cry every time i hear this song.

  • Isn't the steel guitar player in Calexico?

  • @TheIorfino He's done some collaborations with Calexico.

  • He looks like the guy from the hangover

  • @BMWfinatiq4ever No, the guy from The Hangover looks like him.

  • The guy who disliked this video definitely can't grow a beard.

  • the ending instrumental music is totally awesome...

  • @sora1995KH true my friend

  • 4:40 ---> amazeballs

  • Why does Sam Beam sound so fucking good live?

  • @dinkus92 its probably the beard

  • usually i can't stand when something changes with a song i like, but i like the sped up version, myself. unusual! :)

  • wow, I actually like the sped up version a little better. didn't expect to

  • the beard just simply makes the video for me. great song

  • @kelseykbazar

I heard the beard played all the instruments on the studio version. And yes, quite epic.

  • this kinda feel like the 2000 centuries hippi music

  • @thearchangelmichae01 nah it's more folk

  • The clapping is annoying

  • I love how he evolves a slower song to one that flows with the festival atmosphere while keeping the peacefulness of the song, amazing.

  • being apart of this moment in time was amazing..had my girls lucy and molly and it was magical to say the least

  • It's cool but a little fast... It seems like it's lost it's impact a little bit, even at what I thought was the most powerful point about half way thru. It seems a little more commercialized, but I appreciate it nonetheless.

  • thats magic

  • fantastic live version, love it

  • amazing

  • Wow. Love you guys. So glad I tripped across your beautiful sounds.

  • Can anybody tell me the name of the guitar Sam's using in this?

  • Comment removed

  • I believe he uses taylor.

  • yeah, that's his primary acoustic for live performances, from what I've seen. But he's also used many manufacturers of electrics(Used a gubson SG on Letterman).

  • that looks like a gibson archtop to me.

  • The end gives me chills everytime, this live version takes a song on the album that is so moving and changes the whole feeling behind it. Iron and Wine, Bon Iver, and Ray Lamontage give me hope for music. Peace be the Journey friends.

  • holy shit.

    i fucking love it.

  • god, sam beam is awesome.

  • Also, the version on the Live from Bonnaroo album is even better than this one. Has a better beat to it.

  • I WANT THAT ALBUM

  • I'd love him to perform a studio album full of early songs played at quicker tempo, and with a full band, as he did with this. I love mellow Iron and Wine, but this version is so much better than the original.

  • I love this song, one of my favorite songs, emm... yeah!

  • Awesome play. They also did a spectacular job on Austin City Lim. Great to hear this music during tough times.

  • love at first listen. viva la kcrw!

  • this is so insanely beautiful. the original version brought tears to my eyes and now this just makes me smile.

    they're so unbelievably amazing

  • I'm sure i could say today it can't get any better than this... but then again, as they have managed in the past, they improved even more so; so i can't be so certain. I'm looking forward to continue watching how they continue to find ways to make great sound! This is a great band!! ^_^

  • love to ya, and thanks

  • i cant find this version anywhere, i want it oh so desperately. i've watched this video so many times, im beginning to think its unhealthy

    <3 iron&wine

  • I hear you on that one. I have two of their Live Albums, but alas this track does not appear on either one.

The original version doesn't do it for me the same after I head this...

  • pretty amazing how this has evolved from the original recording.

  • i saw them play at club revolution, valentine's day, front row, and they ended the major setlist with this.

fucking blew me away and haunts me in the best way.

  • heard this on satellite radio then couldnt find it anywhere im really glad its here

  • The pedal steel, it is THE sexy!

  • I was at this show and it was absolutely the most amazing thing ever. This is my favorite song of all time.

  • Absolutely LOVE the new way they play the song. Thanks!

  • this is my favorite performance of this song. i love love love it.

  • great post, man.

  • Sublime. Thanks for posting.

    Scottish fan!
