I really enjoyed this video mainly because me and you are similar. I graduated 2010 and haven't had much luck with college or work. I work at a Daycare now minimum wage getting no where so I'm thinking about going to job corp. I'm from tx I wonder if they will let you pick a job corp if you know I'll appreciate your feedback :)
@LadiiAries1 1st, I wanna thank you for even watching and giving feed back. I'm kinda stuck where I am now seeing as how I'm procrastinating with joining the military now. You do get some say so in deciding on where you want to attend, but in the end, it really falls on which center has an opening for new students. If there are any openings near or away from you, take it. I live in N.Fla and ended up having to attend in South Ga. All in all, I do hope you decide to go.

@calandrapalmer The reviews will infact be a lil diff depending on where those ppl attending JC. Fortunately for me, the one I went to was fairly ok except for the fact that 90% of the staff really didnt really care if u succeed or not.
@brittanyrutledge18 There are Job Corps centers that have day care services and aids for mothers and fathers. You should really check into that. The interweb is your friend.
@Ervin90100 There is no time-limit on how long you stay. The program is self paced, meaning, you can fly thru it if u get and understand it, or you can take your time and really understand what you're learning. Parlaying for too long will result in getting kicked out.
@liljamie261 Security is pretty much pre-law any everything it entails. We did physical work outs, wore all black uniforms with combat boots so you can believe we looked B.A. It's pretty much like being in a regular high school class studying your notes and understanding the concept of the trade and security work.

@jacarasunny That all depends on you, not them. It's a self paced program. You'll go to which ever JCs has an opening for students at the time when u get accepted. It all depends on which center picks up your file and decides to add u to their roster so it's basically a waiting game on how long it'll take to get in.
@jacarasunny unfortunately that's a 50/50 depending on which state you come from and which state the JC you attend. Say for instance, if u were from Ga, You can finish up where u left off on the Ga High School Grad Test at a JC in Ga. As far as other states, I doubt it.

@manufacturedfracture Congrats on deciding to go. It's a good thing that you don't smoke because it will get expensive at the corps if you did. You can bring electronics but it isn't smart to bring large electronics like laptop, portable dvd players, sterio, etc. You do get a locker/closet to store your clothing and personal belongings in as well. They supply you with a lock for it as well. Just be wise as to not let everyone see your stuff and ppl love to steal now more that ever.
@manufacturedfracture No prob at all. I'm here to help any way I can. I did in fact bring my laptop to job corps but the funny thing is, everyone knew I had it. I kid you not when I say I wore it on my back every day on my back in a strap Nike bag. That's just how much I didn't trust ppl enough to leave it in my room during the day.
@kjazmo After being in a job corps programs after a couple of months, it can seem like jail due to it being strict on certain things. The center I went to was strict on camera phones which outlawed them due to students taking inappropriate pics and posting them on the net but regular camera-less phones are allowed at the center I went to. I doubt other job corps ban camera phones.
@buckloko1 Sorry it took me so long to respond, got caught up with the girlfriend. You can get your G.E.D from anywhere between a month to how ever long u stay there. I've know for ppl to come to the centere I attended and get their GED the 1st month they were there for CPP(Career Prep Period). Honestly, it's self paced so you can take your time with it or you can zoom thru it if you're they type that's error free when zooming thru stuff..lol. I too hope that helped you.
@TitiyanaSheila You can put a request in for the center u want to attend and be put on a waiting list since so many ppl are trying to get in the program wait for an opening or you can tell them to fill you in on which ever center has an opening to get in at the moment. It's really a 50/50 thing with choosing but it may also vary in different states. I hope that helped you friend.

I attended Tongue Point Job Corps in Oregon in 2005. I was only there for two weeks, then I quit. I HATED Job Corps.
One of the most awful times I had in my life. Job Corps is not for everybody. I laughed when you said "Nobody wants to be stuck at Job Corps"

@kjazmo After being in a job corps programs after a couple of months, it can seem like jail due to it being strict on certain things. The center I went to was strict on camera phones which outlawed them due to students taking inappropriate pics and posting them on the net but regular camera-less phones are allowed at the center I went to. I doubt other job corps ban camera phones.

@buckloko1 Sorry it took me so long to respond, got caught up with the girlfriend. You can get your G.E.D from anywhere between a month to how ever long u stay there. I've know for ppl to come to the centere I attended and get their GED the 1st month they were there for CPP(Career Prep Period). Honestly, it's self paced so you can take your time with it or you can zoom thru it if you're they type that's error free when zooming thru stuff..lol. I too hope that helped you.

i'm thinking about going. i was wondering if your able to pick which job corp center you get to go to or do they choose it for you?

@TitiyanaSheila You can put a request in for the center u want to attend and be put on a waiting list since so many ppl are trying to get in the program wait for an opening or you can tell them to fill you in on which ever center has an opening to get in at the moment. It's really a 50/50 thing with choosing but it may also vary in different states. I hope that helped you friend.
