Yes. Cruyff probably had purer technique, and also better appreciation of his role within a team. Best had a homemade, street-football technique which worked prefectly when he transferred it to the big stage. He was unquestionably selfish, but he was amazingly exciting and his unpredictability was electrifying. Nobody transmitted such infectious joy to the spectator each time he scored. We will never see his like again.

Give me a break. I understand the emotionalism. George best had no weaknesses except off the field and was one of the top 10 footballers in history. But even comparing his career to Pele is ridiculous.
He's not the greatest footballer in the history of Europe, let alone the world.
I'll always love remembering his greatness, and I know what it is to feel a great loyalty to a hero. But, dressing him as a "Pele-killer" won't ever make him one.

I't s Best for me. If you look at Pele most of the players stan back and give him too much time and room on the ball and there almost in awe of him and show way too much respect to him. In the English game at the time Best was playing you had no time on the ball and teams like Leeds for example would hack you down if you kept the ball too long. Best was fast and he had to be and it's just a great pity he retired so early as he had a few seasons left in him to thrill us more.

Pele played for Brazil in the World Cup. Georgie played for Northern Ireland and the rest of the team wasn't as good as he was. at Manchester United George won everything and won almost every honor in the game. they tend to play in two different decisions but they have both credited each other as the best players as in the world. i always think people are mad to compare players to other players. like some people compare Cantona to Messi. they are both so different. not in ability but in styles

But he absolutely loved it and can't wait to see more. Puskas, Cruyff, Platini, Zidane and many were betters. Garrincha was extremely gifted dribbler better than any others but Pele was more universal player.
Best had excellent partners in MU and ..... they only win one European Cup in overtime......at home. Best was best for one year only. I respect Lew Jaszyn's opinion but most experts have different one.

Maradona is the most talented player I have seen....he was just head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch in his prime eg. 1986....it was a man against boys...but if I wanted one player to run the game and funnel everthing through him it would be Zidane.
Best is probably the most talented flair post war British player followed by Gazza and Glenn Hoddle...

Yes. Cruyff probably had purer technique, and also better appreciation of his role within a team. Best had a homemade, street-football technique which worked prefectly when he transferred it to the big stage. He was unquestionably selfish, but he was amazingly exciting and his unpredictability was electrifying. Nobody transmitted such infectious joy to the spectator each time he scored. We will never see his like again.

George Best is a world wide footballing legend by anyone's standards.
He may have been a fool to himself at times but his achievements and skills rank amongst the greats and definitely not over rated.
However not being able to display his talents on the world stage unfairly counted against his him in the eyes of the world.
I George Best is most naturally gifted player the world has ever seen.

Anyone who thinks Best even compares to Pele is a clueless clown.Maradona was better than both, and many Brazilians think Garrrincha was better than Pele.Garrincha was DEFINITELY better than Best. These three players played in and won World Cups, whilst Best couldn't even lead N Ireland to one, a weaker nation yet something the likes of Shevchenko (as great a player as he is) could do. Best is English hype, and hardly anybody across the world knows who he is. Also, Pele says anything to anybody.
