  • It is really neat that we still have Buddha's teachings being practiced within our time. We should do lots at KH to spread Lama Tsongkhapa and uplift the prestige of his teachings so many will be inspired and practice.

  • Gaden is such an amazing and inspiring place. It does hold the pure lineage of the Dharma and it is very fortunate to have to even hear their name, not to mention a chance to actually go there or meet someone from there! May i support them one day, just like how Rinpoche did

  • wuvvles. i am watching rinpoche's videos at work...oppsyyyy

  • What great fortune to be able to behold the custodians of Lord Buddha's pure teachings of Sutra and Tantra. May we always have the good fortune to support these monks and uphold the teachings as practitioners or better yet, as monks who live our days and nights purely in the Dharma.

  • It is always a joy to see Gaden Monastery again and I hope to visit this monastery again and again! What a joy for so many monks to study and practice whole-heartedly 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 12 months a year and some for most of their lives. What great fortune and may we have the great fortune to learn the Dharma from them and support them from within and without.

  • What a neat road trip to Gaden Monastery. It is simply amazing and wow the roads have improved dramatically at Gaden. I hope Kechara Discovery will organize a public pilgrimage to Gaden Monastery soon.

  • Jain's beliefs are very similar to that of Buddhists with adherence to laws of karma, non-harming etc but their practices are more ascetic and severe unlike the Buddhists who take a more moderate approach towards these practices.

  • This is simply just so wonderful! We hope more and more people get to see the sacred Gaden Monastery. It's amazing to see Lama Tsongkhapa's lineage preserved.

  • Wow! This is an amazing video of the trip towards Gaden Monastery. JP Thong is head liaison of Ladrang and he is doing great work fundraising and finding and bringing people to the Dharma.

  • Wonderful :-)

  • Thank you so much for sharing.....It brings back so many happy memories.

    I am very happy today.

  • Tsem Ladrang has an aviary to create the causes to build an animal sanctuary in the future. It is so nice to know that Tsem Rinpoche cares a lot about animals, as they too are sentient beings and deserve care. I think the birds are cute too!

  • I saw the cute birds in a few video here, Tsem Ladrang Aviary Sun Conures, Tsem Tulku Rinpoche and Cheeky Birds and so on. But what has Tibetan Buddhism got to do with birds?

  • You can watch the video here, Tsem Ladrang EXPOSE!!! , to find out more about Tsem Ladrang and its function. Also, I think Tsem Ladrang is unique as it has a gift section (watch the video Inside Tsem Ladrang: Gift Section) and also an aviary with cheeky birds.

  • Apart from being the official residence of the Rinpoche or Lama, a Ladrang or Labrang can also be the headquarters of the Dharma organisation and centres for the Lama. The ladrang and all the staff within it support all of the Lama's personal needs and takes care of all secular matters of the Lama. There are Labrangs in Tibet that has thousands of monks/ staffs.

  • What does Tsem Ladrang do? I am curious. Is it just where Rinpoche and his assistants stays?

  • Yes, I think the abbot sees how much work Tsem Tulku Rinpoche does for the monastery, sponsorship, promoting the lineage and tradition outside the monastery and soon building Tsem Kacho Ling, a huge cultural and retreat centre to propagate the tradition of Je Tsongkhapa.

  • Wow, the abbot came to attend the Tara Puja for Tsem Ladrang (Tsem Rinpoches household & office). This shows that the abbot really appreciate Tsem Rinpoche and shows support for Tsem Rinpoches work.

  • Dr. Thupten Jinpa (Ph.D. degree in Religious Studies, from Cambridge University) also taught in Gaden for 5 years. It is amazing that Gaden Monastery continues to churn out scholars and great Dharma teachers long after the founder Tsongkhapa has entered parinirvana. No wonder Tsem Tulku Rinpoche is such a Dharma teacher. Hes spent many years studying with great masters in Gaden Monastery.

  • What I find more amazing than that is that the teaching/ learning are all in Tibetan language. And Tsem Tulku Rinpoche doesnt know Tibetan when he first landed there as he was from America! Amazing how Tsem Tulku Rinpoche adapted to monastic life, in a foreign country, with foreign culture of Tibetan community, and yet shine through and was sent out to represent his monastery to raise fund.

  • Wow, 3 hours spent on solid debate daily. No wonder Gaden produces solid Geshes who are world famous, people like the principal translator of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Geshe Thupten Jinpa, also studied and received his Geshe Lharampa degree from Gaden Monastery.

  • How nice to hear Kating Rinpoche explains about the debate system in Gaden Monastery and to watch the monks in action. I remember Kechara House organises annual Manjugosha debate as well.

  • Tsem Tulku Rinpoche really cares for the monastery. He sponsored the flooring for the debate courtyard too. Wow, its quite amazing, knowing that Tsem Tulku Rinpoche was a young monk in his 20s back then when he was in Gaden?

  • What a lovely documentary!

  • How wonderful to see Gaden Shartses Debate Hall & Courtyard. I can imagine 600 years ago in Lhasa, during the time of Tsongkhapa, the Gaden monks were doing exactly the same debate and puja. I wonder if Tsem Kacho Ling, the future retreat centre of Kechara will have a debate hall?

  • At 2.40, Kating Rinpoche spoke about the poor people and donation of food. Perhaps this is the start of Kechara Soup Kitchen?

  • I know for a fact that Tsem Tulku Rinpoche didnt even had enough to eat at one point, starving so much that hes so thin! I saw a picture of Rinpoche on kechara(dot)com, the bio section.

  • I think this is amazing, considering he was quite poor when he was a monk in Gaden Monastery, yet able to do so much.

  • How nice to know that Tsem Tulku Rinpoche sponsored so many charitable projects in India near Gaden Monastery. The hospital, the school, old folks home and so on.

  • *Envy* I think Gaden Monastery is one of the most beautiful place to visit, simply because people there are pushing themselves daily to learn, to debate, to absorb, to teach and practice Dharma daily to bring benefit to others. How wonderful to step foot on such a holy place.

  • Yes, not forgetting the founder, Je Tsongkhapa, who himself was a very inspiring figure and called Second Buddha by the Tibetans. I somehow think of Tsem Rinpoche as a Second Buddha with his Kechara organisation thats growing, by the hour perhaps, hehe! They have 12 departments now, compared to 5 years ago when they only had the Buddhist centre.

  • How nice, a roadtrip to Gaden! I wish to do that too after watching Tsem Tulku Rinpoche Goes Home on Youtube! How wonderful to go on this trip to explore one of the greatest monastic university in the world that is alive and kicking!
