  • LOVELY !

  • Why are all the Carpenters shows not available on DVD?

  • @MegaSmud Supposedly it's because Richard doesn't like them.

  • @arfies But he likes the money :-) So, where is the problem?

  • Where did you get the TV show?

  • Is Karen your favorite vocalist? And why wouldn't she be!? Please go to this web site: the-top-tens.......search for "best female singer of all time" and "greatest singer of all time" and cast your vote! Bring karen to #1 where she belongs!

  • ARGH John Davidson. WHY?!!

Karen and Ella were both past their primes here but how cool that we have two of the best female vocalists of all time together.

  • @steveatl40 past here prime? she was barely 30 here.

  • @sandradancefeva i think he means vocally. but i think her performances in this special were really good. i mean, listen to the way she sings that little bit of "a song for you" at the beginning of the video. shiver up the spine. and if you listen to the other parts of this special, you'll see that her vocals were gorgeous here (in this special)

  • Love the "tight harmonies" of Karen and Richard...

"Without A Song" - Acapella part is "perfect"...

  • I keep this piece on my favorites for just that reason snootzie78. No one can arrange and sing harmonies like the Carpenters. That was their real signature.

  • Those vocal harmonies always give me chills! Love it!

  • My thoughts exactly. As someone studying music right now, this is a master class. Love the Carpenters...this would have been perfect without John Davidson

  • It stops and starts-or not- often depending on the time of day. Try hitting the mute ll and let the pink line (under the black button) buffere it for an inch or so. Then hit the forward arrow for uninterrupted listening.

  • Yes Virginia. Richard can sing.

But boy can he ever arrange!

  • Even suffering from the signs of anorexia, Karens once in a lifetime talent shines as brilliantly as ever here, thanks for posting.

  • Are any of these awesome shows on DVD?

  • why does it keep stopping and starting?

  • I "bought" this program from a gentlemen who taped it off Channel 2 in LA. After 3/4 the way through the broadcast, the Channel 2 sports anchor (Ted ?) says that the LA Lakers had won the NBA title (over Philly?) and were paced by rookie Magic Johnson. So much for the NBA Finals being prime time in May of '80!

  • Oh jeez, it's really true-- I do look like Richard, even with the bad hair. I've been told that for 20 years. If only I had the talent.

  • I remember waiting for their TV specials. It was like Christmas for me...even better on most years!

  • that guy john davidson looks like a ken doll. ella kinda seems a little bit outta place but yet it's so perfect.

  • mmm john davidson (ken) and paris hilton (barbie) the perfect pair. lol.

  • Such a beautiful, gentle voice, speaking or singing †

  • No new artist today can top Karen's great voice! Love you forever,Karen!

  • Yesterday once more is my first song I sang in the past

  • I've just watched her 1974 live concerts video. My heart sinks when I see her skeletal face here. If only...

  • I know what you mean. She looks much older than 30 in this clip. I'm almost 32, and I don't look anything even close to that. It's just so sad. :(

  • A search for Carpenters outtakes yields two from this show.

  • I really like the a capella part at the start.

  • bohemia rhapsody? jeje.

  • Richard is a great arranger, those vocal arrangements are great..........much respect to the Carpenters{r.i.p}Karen.miss u.

  • that voice! like butta!

  • Karen yet again pulling off a dress that most women would look wierd in, yet she looed so beautiful.

  • Wow, that was awesome!

Karen still looked good their too.

  • For all you Take 6 fans, check out this video. It features take 6 type of vocal arrangements way before them .. how surprising ... its ya boy Chris ( Merci Guy )

  • I agree,it was groups like the carpenters that made it possible 4 groups like take6.........even take6 recognizes this.

  • Wow, Karen and Ella together! With the Nelson Riddle Orchestra! umm...what's that corn ball pretty boy davidson doing there?..he makes my skin crawl. But if he was a friend of Karen I guess I'll give him another chance...

    Thanks for the great posts!!!
