Chaka scaring me. This just took me back to ladies sings the blues and all them motown movies when the singers be on drugs. I'm scared to see the Chaka Khan story now. i dont understand who cast beyonce as Etta James but it just didnt match up. She in no way shape of form resembled her either artistically or in substance. Just another example of today's generation trying to mtv everything up. if they wanted to keep it real they should've gotten Faith Evans to play the part. she's kinda been throught the same things as the great Etta James

But one thing I am happy about Beyonce playing Etta is that she has large fanbase who will watch or listen to anything her name is on. It reintroduce Etta to a geeration whose parents may not have had Etta James greatest hits cd when they were kid like I did. lol

Chaka was high on herion during this performance. It's been well documented that 1986 - 1988 (when she moved out of the country) was Chaka's herion period. My auntie used to see her near Riverside drive all the time in the 80's.

Gladys just opens her mouth and every note comes out perfectly. I've never heard a sour note from the woman. She's amazing...simply amazing. But then...all three of these ladies is incredible. I've listened to this one and the "Ain't Nobody's Business" clip about a hundred times...and it still gives me goosebumps every time. Talent is just talent.  Period.

Amen! It's just My personal thought that She is the best. But Lord knows these 3 women here are blessed by God with the best voices one could ask for. I personally like Etta and Gladys Knight the most. But to me Mahailia is the VERY best singer for gospel music...of course Elvis dominated that song also.
