  • Hey I didn't know Galadriel was being played by Samantha from Bewitched.

  • god I hate the way Galadriel does her speech about being a dark queen in this one. The way she so joyfully says it all and then says "I passed the test" like it was nothing at all just really makes it feel like there's no power to it..

Animated WONDERFULLY but that one part is just irritating.

  • the merry and pippin of this one is a lot more different than the merry and pippin of the peter jackson film... they look like good boys here, unlike in the live one, they are naughty and playful...lol

  • Sam seriously is like a retard in this one...

  • I miss Elijah wood in this one :(

  • I hope these aren't the official subtitles, because they totally misheard the lyrics.

  • The pronunciation in this movie is terrible. Saruman definitely has ans s in front of it, Celeborn is pronounced Keleborn, Edro, is NOT pronounced eggroll... Want me to continue?

  • @zz13x yes please:)

  • @jhheadbanger7 Well I would have to watch the movie again, and it's too painful, sorry.

  • Um.... Galadriel is supposed to be one of the most beautiful women in existence, right? Then why is she all cross-eyed in her closeups?

  • @valawen lol cause bakshi was gay me thinks my precious! never great looking sexy women. i did see fire and ice was finally first time he drew woman id rail lol but yeah man your right jessica rabbitt she aint!

  • I think peter jackson should have got john hurt to be in his verson, he makes such a good aragorn.

  • @HalifirienTheMovie Except Peter Jackson didn't make this, and it was made in 1977

  • @HalifirienTheMovie Yes i know, obviously. John hurt is also fantastic in harry potter and merlin...

  • Sams actually cute when he giggles seeying Galadriel

  • 2:03 haha they spelt "through" wrong Xd

  • @LegendSw0rd

    Nah..... Thru is a word.

  • @TheTrebledSoul It is in slang, and is used a lot but strictly speaking it's not a proper word and shouldn't really be used in official things or it might catch on and we'll have a world of chavvy retards, and nothing but (pardon my french). Go look in McDonalds, it's already started lololol

  • @LegendSw0rd

    lol....

    That's hilarious....

Oh...But, I'm more than certain it was once a real word that evolved into what it is today. In old English, the word Thru was very prominent. Like the word, Thus.

  • Galadriel's not that bad, but when you compare 4:56 and on to the PJ movie.... she looks like she's dancing around and should be singing "I Feel Pretty". In the PJ version she gets legitimately scary.

  • The viking hat makes me giggle. I cannot take the character seriously at all.

  • The animator seriously had a problem with drawing eyes and teeth. Galadriel's eyes are disportotionate and her lashes are a forest of creepiness. Please no more close up shots.

  • lol celeborn got more lines in this than the peter jackson films XD

  • 2:14 God, their skirts and flawless legs are creeping me out. Battle of the fucking panty shots.

  • aragorn is like an over exalted tour guide...

  • Galadrial somehow looks like Arwen in Jacksons, anyway, does Arwen appear?? Or are they more like the book?

  • Gandalf is a fuckin nutcase in this version.

  • This Galadirel beats Cate Blanchett's hideous elf-ish,goblin-ish one and it's less creepy

It's also nice that the fountain doesn't lie in this one like in the Jackson ones where it shows the Scouring that didn't happen

  • Galadriel and Celeborn look like some kind of super-galactic fucking chat show hosts in this one. Who the hell is Celeborn anyway? Still love it though, even if this one is totally camp, and Sam is mental. Fucking excellent for 1977.

  • 0:27

what the hell was up with that editing i got fucking whiplash just watching the damn thing

  • Galadriel is so much more pretty in this version

  • i like Sauron's eye in this version

  • Aruman WHAT LANGUAGE DO THEY SPEAK?!?!?!?!

  • @LordOfTheRingsGirlie the director thought that souron and saruman were to similar and course confusion so they changed saruman to aruman hope that answers your question. in the new trilogy peter jackson stayed true to the book.

  • @DONCULLEN The producers actually.

  • Legolassie.

  • this version stinks...it feels like they were just rushing through to try to fit all the key aspects of the story in as little time as possible

  • 3:48 they got some good shrooms in lothlorion

  • boromir is a viking hahaha

  • Galadriel looks like a prostitute...

  • @GatremagWenYm I thought Galadriel looked like a man lol.

  • those pricks make the hobbits row the boat, what a bunch of assholes

  • What the heck is wrong with sam? just imagine if he had the RING? LOL!!!

  • gimli looks like a homeless bum

  • why can none of the say SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSaruman... Aruman...

  • there are a lot of flaws with this movie, mainly the way the characters are drawn, but there are a lot of redeeming factors too, the action scenes are great, i actually like them better than the ones in the live action version. and when you get past the way they look, the characters actually seem more developed in this version. ive never seen this before, im just watching this cause the nostalgia critic seemed to like it, and i have to say i agree with him.

  • what is wrong with sam?

  • Boromir sharpens his sword on a simple rock in the forest. Well...look at his sword then you know why it looks like that. -.-

  • i like the part in this better then the place in the live action movies o.o i couldn't understand anything there anyway and i've watched all 3 movies around 2 or 3 times

  • i like the part in this better then the place in the live action movies o.o i couldnt understand anything there anyway and ive watched all 3 movies around 2 or 3 times

  • 4:46 DON'T STAND ON THE FUCKING BOAT YOU BASTARD.

  • Galadriel looks like a pornstar. I'm not saying thats a bad thing.

  • @rbh1138 well if she is a pornstar she as an elf must have the loosest pussy in all of Middle-Earth she could blowjob all the Fellowship of the Ring members!

  • and her husband looks like someone from "Plan 9 From Outer Space" =/

  • All shall love me and despair

  • @itzjoeymac

all shall love me...and this pear O.o

  • I'm Galadriel, and my eyes are HUGE!

  • The great elven choir has a very falsetto voice...

  • 2:21 why did they give sam down syndrome and why is aragon a native american??

  • 2:21 why did they give sam down syndrome??

  • it's pronounced "Keleborn" not "Seleborn"....and is it me or does Galadriel look like a Disney Princess?

  • 5:00 the mirror has a screensaver lol

  • oh, she is wonderful!

  • izzledor

  • "I know that, Sam." LOL (yes Sam we ALL know that)

  • @LadyRavenEyes ROFL

  • Aruman?

  • Many seem to be little more than fond of Galadriel, have they noticed she is buel/grey? :)

  • Aparently Lothlorian is inhabited by a boys choir on some pretty trippy drugs...

  • "house of Issil-door"? and "Mynas tirith"?

    good lord...

  • Galadriel looks sexy

  • 1:03 WTF

  • Why is gandalf such a hard ass in this version?

  • "Three Rings for the Elven-KINGS under the sky." Where does Galadriel come into the story? A drag-queen? A transexual? A Cross-dresser?

  • i love how they say, "yeah pretty much ur welcome if u dont bring evil" and yet frodo brings the rings. most evil thing in that age, and maybe ever.

  • It's pronounced "SSSaruman!" you fools! Not "aruman"

  • hahaha 1:14 !!!

  • Isn't Celeborn pronounced with a hard "C"

  • What a ridiculous hard cut. "...Unless a man brings evil there with him WELCOME TO LOTHLORIEN!!!" LOL what a big skip. "The long expected Party Well I'm back!" - The End.

  • @K0feeKrawl yea i think so... They mispronounced pretty much every name in this series, like Minas Tirith was pronounced "My-nas" instead of "Mee-nas"... among other names...

  • @K0feeKrawl Yes. Celeborn is pronounced with a hard "c". just like Isildur is prounced, "Ih-Seal-Door!" NOT "Issil-door."

  • love this movie, but that transition into Lothlorien was really weak. it was like, lothlorien is good, blah blah, then Oh! we're already here! How convenient!

  • wow... the part with galadriel after frodo offers her the ring is WAAY more epic in peter jacksons version... :p

  • 5.45 No Boromir it's MINAS tirith not MINUS tirith . Geez Gondorian Get Good Grammer!

  • Oh Legolas... So not interested in anything during this journey... :D Always the "whatever" pose.

  • Er...um...Celeborn...looks like...well. Nothing like an ELF. Elves have long hair!

  • "the mirror of galadriel"

why not just say "its my mirror"?

I preferred the peter jackson version, it actually followed the books well, in the extended version at least. This version is okay, too. The animation is a lot better than the japenese stuff that you see every where.

  • if anything, i have more appreciation for Jackson than ever. who would of thought anyone could butcher Tolkiens work. im just glad Jackson took up Tolkiens work and did some justice after this.

  • Will someone please dub the proper names over with correct pronunciation? Seriously - did no one even bother reading the appendices?

  • @Egoist1957

    totally!

    "Ga-LAD-real"

    "Gan-dah-llf"

  • It's pronounced Keleborn, not Seleborn =/

  • YEAH

  • I could take this this seriously until they said Seleborn. This did come after the Silmarillion and I know it had the pronunciations in the beginning. K eleborn damn it!

  • wy do most men in the cartoon wear miniskirts ?

  • @ARTARIUS1462 to show their legs

  • @ARTARIUS1462 Its a Tunic, honestly.....

  • galadriel's laugh............ orgasmiiiiiiiiccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc

  • 1:20 sounds more like children singing

  • HAHAHAHA!!!! That is not what we say in Gondor!

Then you know nothing in Gondor! AHAAHAHAH!!! Thats the best line of the whole movie!!

  • @DoomSlayer8000

Especially because it is the future king insulting his future kingdom and the

    people living there ;)

  • Damn Galadriel is freaking hot in this version

  • ahhhh shit the mirror of galadriel is a kaleidoscope

  • 3:51 frodo got told

  • The elves all have down syndrome eyes

  • Comment removed

  • we get it!

  • Okay okay.

  • LMAO !!!!!@ 2:56

Sam's face is timeless, i cant be the only one that found that funny!

  • wtf, dwarves with bows, what next an elf with balls?

  • 0:35 They all look so unimpressed!

  • I can never take LOTR seriously again after watching this.

  • @TheLanaRamone I think it's a lot easier to take this Gladriel seriously then booming voice, brass-chestplate Galadriel

  • why do they sometimes pronounce Saruman Aruman ?

  • They say "Ahruman" instead of Saruman.

  • 2:14 WTH lololol

  • Thats how real girls fight!!

  • Aragorn: I'd fight back but I'm a lady and I would like to remain a lady

  • Why did they draw Sam as if he's some mentally challenged midget?

  • @andoc Wholly sh*t that made my day : D

  • @andoc Because some mentally challenged midget drew him...

  • @Xydonus

    lol

  • @andoc Wasn't Sam mentally Challenged?

  • Comment removed

  • i feel depressed when watch this, makes me want to travel back to 1978.

  • The totally messed up the pronunciation of Celeborn's name. It's supposed to be a hard C kind of like a K, not like an S.

  • They generally had not done much to research the pronunciations. But I don't think mistaking a c for and s-sound is in the name of a minor character is so great a deal as, say, the mispronunciation a lot of people do to Tolkien's own name, or the way they pronounce Sauron in this one.

  • When Galadriel says that Frodo must not touch the water, she sounds like McGonagall :)

  • Why is Galadriel so ugly!!?? Legolas looks more feminine than her lol

  • Oh dear... they changed Samwise Gamgee into Samwise Faggee didn't they?

  • Ridiculus to rename Saruman as "Aruman in case the audience mix him up with Sauron?"

    3 syllables v. 2 already!

  • The temptation of Galadriel was rather weak... Frodo and Sam look all scared -- at a daydream that she twirls to. Peter Jackson made Galadriel a bit creepy, but his mirror of Galadriel scene is actually closer to the book. Similar is the Agronath scene.

And Gimli seems tall to me... And what's up with Sam? And Boromir's helmet?!

But in lots of ways this is closer to the book than the live action movies.

  • jejeje I love sam very much!!!!!!!!!

  • IoI

  • the animation is very captivating in this version

but the overall story seems very rushed

and at least Peter Jacksons' versions made Sam respectable

  • "..and this is my lord, Sell-A-Born". XD

  • boromir.....sword is all damn screwed up.

  • boromir pronounces minas tirith wierd because of the 'I' like minotaur.

  • Though I like the movie for it is animated well, but not so greatly, there are a few things I don't like in the movie.

Frodo looks like a kid, instead of appearing like a Hobbit, in some scenes particularly. second Gandalf acts like a prick.

Third, it says in the book that the name Celeborn is pronounced, with the C in it as that in cat. They didn't even follow such simple things in the movie.

  • Yeah, but you gotta admit the Celebron acts better in this version.

In the new one, he sounds like he took angel dust.

  • Where is Gandalf?! lol

  • he fell in moria lol

  • @MarcusWindrune Ha, you know what I meant---the way Celeborn says that line in Fellowship of the Ring (the live movie) :)

  • actually my reply was meant for tubeghost

  • Psychedelic...and WOW. I love Sam in the books, but...he's very much a joke in this. Very unfortunate...

  • I think Sam looks more like a hobbit than anyone else in this nor the PJ Lotr.

Mostly because he's fat, ugly and the way he is.

Hobbits after all are fat little british drunkards who smoke weed, eat, read and hardly work.

  • Yes, well, they're all pretty much jokes in this, to me. I was mostly saying this about Sam especially because of all the redeeming qualities from the books that are just thrown out. At least in the PJ movies, they keep those qualities. Not to say the PJ movies are perfect; far from it, in fact. There are many things I don't like about those movies, but in general, they're pretty good.

But hey, now. Tolkien never said all Hobbits were ugly... : P

  • LMAO!!!! @ taistelutomaati

    Thats the best comment ever!

  • i like the galadriel here much better than in the peter jakcson movie

  • 0:38

This Celeborn doesn't look much more intellegent than the one picked by PJ...It's Galadriel Barbie and Celeborn Ken!

*Celeborn starts to sing* We're men, we're men in tights, we roam around Lorien looking for fights...*

  • Aruman? Who the fuck is Aruman?

  • She pronounced his name wrong.

  • I think this is about the worst characterization of Samwise I've seen. That's one thing Jackson's version certainly got right. Of Frodo and Samwise both together I actually think "Return of the King" by Jules Bass / Arthur Rankin Jr. (shudder) was probably the best though (bad as the writing was anyway, at least neither was a weakling nor buffoon).

  • And they all call Saruman 'Araman'!!

  • the balrog is fugly.

  • all the magic & mistery of Lothlorien & its center Caras Galathon is lost here, & Galadriel looks more llike a smug maiden then the powerful & terrible, extrem. wise elfic witch & sorceress that she really is

  • This was made in 1978. To my knowledge, people generally viewed people, especially in animation, a little differently.

  • she reminds me of some disney evil step mother Ô_o

  • It moves from scene to scene so fast

  • I agree. I think they go from the end of "Fellowship" to the Battle of Helms Deep in a matter of 30 minutes. :S

  • I want to kick Sam's ass for being so stupid and I want to kick Ralph Bakshi's ass for making him so stupid!

  • Gimli shooting with bow and arrow! that's what is missing out in the live action film!

  • lol same here!

  • Seleborn?! It's pronounced Keleborn!! It's quite obvious the actors never the Pronunciation Guide that's in EVERY Tolkien Book. It's starting to drive me batty...

  • Galadriel is so much better in this movie than in Jackson's. I just hate her voice and the way she talks in a cheesy, poetic, cryptic way in Jackson's films. She's also much more friendly and likeable here, not an overly creepy, manipulative witch.

  • lol the jackson galadriel scared the shit out of me :)

  • Am i the only one who thinks galadriel should have bigger tits?

  • This movie is very under-apreciated

  • you know, this movie, along with ROTK would have been perfect for mystery science theater 3000. i had fun heckling this movie at certain parts.

  • Everyone talks to Sam like he's a mental case! lolz

  • although this less more of the story of the novel than the film n.t. of its terribleness, its grandeur, its obscurity & piercing evilness is kept

  • Galadriel's eyes... Dear god, what did she smoke? O_o

  • wow, they're so respectful aren't they?

Gandalf just dropped down a hole and while the elves sing their lament for him, whats everyone else doing? bloody play fighting

They can't have mourned him that much lol

  • Man that transition to Lothlorien hit me like a brick wall.

Look at that chemistry 1:10 Me thinks Galadriel finds Sam that pudgy little freak hot.

  • The song at 1:22 is really beautiful!

  • It really is. And extremely upbeat considering that they sang it in the memory of Gandalf.

  • Why do the elves singing sound like a kindergarten class?

  • Elves age slowly, I guess the choir is middle aged by their standards.

  • Galadriel is a dead ringer for micheal jackson
