  • Great, I just purchased an AR (DPMS) Lo Pro w/ no dust cover and forward assist and your test's make me feel a whole lot better. The real problem comes when you add water to the mix, fine sand and water will give any firearm problems, such as a very silty creek bottom or very runny mud.

  • Oh yeah nice shooting course and I love the 1st person view during the end

  • I did do a sks test about 15 years ago, but since cameras were the size of bazookas, difnt film, did pretty well,

  • Would've been nice to see a sks in that test.

  • "but it jams everytime" said the poser

  • this is a good video. Can you tell me what brand upper was used on this rifle or what brands where used to build the upper. thanks.

  • I love the M16 platform of weapons. I've used it for 20 years no problems. Don't forget to test it with the port open, port side up, then put some dirt.

  • We already did, watch the video response.

  • Awesome!!!

  • @SinistralRifleman Keep making video's like these, and do a shooting with your Ar under water, trust me it works just fine I've done it over and over to prove the AR does not blow up under water like the Germanys on the H&K video rigged the M4 to blow up, so know every AK knuckle head is blabbering more stupid crap the M4 Ar blows up in water.

I'm so fed up with the Ak jerk wads blabbering over AR's jam they can't even kill a squirrel when their AK isn't some supper Russian hand held cannon !

  • For the "It's not Iraqi dirt" crowd, I don't think that was at all the intent of the testing. The intent was to show that the AR-15 doesn't die instantly with the contact with dirt as is generally presumed around the internets.

Not intended to be an ultimate margin test to failure against the "finest sand on the planet", it clearly shows the AR-15 has some significant margin against common dirt contact, and shows it's irresponsible to say the AR-15 can't handle dirt at all.

    Good one R.

  • The AR is reliable. Just not as reliable as an AK47 in extreme conditions. Overall the "looseness" of the AK which make it more durable in said extreme conditions is substituted for the more accurate and also more moving parts that can malfunction of the AR. So you can have superior accuracy at farther distances further than AK47s traditionaly will hit. Or, shoot anywhere, anytime, any conditions. Just not as far accuracuy wise. As for "putting up a video of my own" would being to war count?

  • The test has nothing to do with combat, only that there is the perception that the AR15 cannot handle getting dirty. Please see my other video where we bury it dust cover open and run it over.

The fact the AR is a sealed system prevents as much debris getting into it to begin with that an AK can.

  • @IronfistAmerican I think you have been sniffing way to much Glue vapors blabbing about how the AK is superior to the AR !

You do this same test on any AK or a AN 94 it will jam up so tight you will have to take the hole AK or AN 94 apart to clean it !

You need to watch the You Tube video AR vs AK dirt /dust test Dust cover open .

Anyone who is blabbing on and on how bad the AR is has never owned one plain and simple !

There are no more parts in ARs than the AK so that B.S is busted !

  • Next time do a REAL test. Finer sand like in IRAQ. Perhaps leave it buried for a couple weeks in said sand. Maybee it rains. Pull it out of the sludge and fire it. It won't. Expose a few moving parts next time as well. Get some in the magazine and behind the bolt. Then fire, it won't. The test AK47s have put through,in actual battle experiences dictate it's reputation and reliability. Find a rusted AK and put a couple drops of oil in the action slam it down and it will fire. Try that with an AR

  • All machines can be made to fail. The AR is more reliable than people believe it to be, and the AK is not a mystical piece of Russian steel that cannot malfunction. See the other videos.

  • For that matter do your own tests and post the videos.

  • @IronfistAmerican An ak-47 was primarily manufactured to spread communism, that meant the gun would be put in the hands of rebel fighters in jungle/desert shitholes of the world, where it could be hard to get replacement parts and cleaning it meant a bootstring and motor oil. The M16 family was produced to fight communism, short patrols, accurate fire and light weight. With modern technology though, both have become very accurate and reliable weapons.

  • beleave it or not these are near optimal conditions. they are in arazona where the sand isn't fine at all, unlike iraq and other hot spots and they didnt do any tests with water or humitiy.

  • Holy shit.

You are a college graduate with that spelling ability?

    Really?

  • have you been to iraq. The sand is very fine, I can tell you from experience. Their so small, they end up in your nose and you can see them as mud when you blow your nose.

  • 1:21 why did you close the dust cover.......hmmmmmmmmmm.....Rigged TEST

  • How many times do I have to tell you guys to watch the second video with the dust cover open and the rifle

  • lol. these guys are hilarious

  • I noticed the AR15 is placed with the Ejector (right side) Facing DOWN. would've been more interesting to see the Ejector port facing UP with the cover plate OPEN. this test is rigged.

  • view the AR dust cover open and run over test posted on my channel

  • Other video shows them doing just that. But one point that you failed to note is the the M16 series even with the dust cover down (which requires minor effort to do) is still a rifle thats ready to shoot. Where as the AK series the dust cover is also the safety and must disengaged before the rifle can shoot.

  • +1 on that he sells the lower

  • Which is why I have no problem abusing one and wouldn't expect anyone else to do so.

View the second video with the dust cover open and the rifle run over

  • Try packing the buffer tube with dirt next time. Amateur.

  • bury the magazine instead.

  • I'm still a hater.

  • 4:32... that's why we wear eye protection. :D

  • A lot of times guys put motorcycles up for sale and say...'never ridden in rain.' (Lie). When you put this gun up for sale, will you say....'Never fired in dirt'? Next comment. Back around 1980, after Escort (Cincinnatti Microwave) radar detector was so highly acclaimed, another maker stuck Escort vitals inside their own case and sent it to Car And Driver for testing. They got caught. So, what you must have done here is slip AK goodies inside that AR. Just kidding,

  • next time get the dust in, then shake it out, then proceed to fire, and see how far you get. dont forget to expose the magazine to dust separately as well!

  • Nice. Thanks for this vid.

  • Outstanding!

  • arent ar's built to tighter tolerances then sloppy ak's. did much of the dirt get into the receiver or bolt area, or did it seal it out. I liked the video and what was done.

  • there is some floating around and I did shake some small rocks out of the buffer tube. I haven't cleaned it much since then, just bore snake and shake out the big chunks.

  • You mean to tell me all of the europeans like the brits, germans, and other eurotrash with their superior attitudes, have lied to me? They always told me that H&K, L-85 or whatever, is the superior firearm to American weapons. Damn it! I was fucking lied to!!!

  • maskedman1980

when the euros open up their flappy little mouths, I stop listening. Same with the Canadians and Aussies, flappy little mouths talking about how they invented the this and that and how their eurofighter can go backwards at mach 2 and fly to the moon, that's when I stop listening , and how they are superior. They have small dicks and need to make up for it.

  • But not to forget. The Europeans invented Americans....

  • What lube did you use. Mil-tec or CLP just curious.

  • rem-oil for this one

  • Hey goons, wassup.

  • whatup brother

  • No one in their right mind would do that to a combat rifle. What he did was a good and accurate depiction of what a typical AR *might* go threw in a dirt/desert environment. No one with an M4 or AK47 is going to deliberately fill their gun full of dirt in combat. If they did yes, the AK would do better. Mainly because there is a lot more room inside the receiver to displace the dirt.

  • This was posted in response to someone telling him to open the gun up and fill it with sand.

  • Man you just pissed off every AR hater who claims AK-47s are better....better stay away from /k/ for a bit.

  • The ejection port cover needs to be open when sand is being dumped onto the rifle.

  • video is forthcoming

  • I believe the cover was open on the second mag, it would have to be or he would had to recharge the rifle. Lets face it the M4 performed well under adverse conditions!

  • the cover was only open for the last mag fired after the match.

  • I'm limited in what I am willing to do by the fact I paid for the gun and throwing hundreds of dollars down the drain in destructive testing is counter productive for me personally. Your suggestions are duly noted for future videos

  • Yeah I was kinda just kidding, would never do that with an AR I paid for either, if I even had one. Still probably wouldn't even do it with my AK either lol. Take care

  • thanks for putting your personal property on the line in the pursuit of knowledge

  • Cool test. Now let's see your AR go for a swim. =)

  • Piston or direct impingement?

  • direct impingement

  • Paul narrating your video discredits it entirely

  • At about 1:51 how did the weapon cycle that fast?

  • Audio error from repeated muzzle blasts close to the camera I assume

the spent casings are ejecting at the same rate

  • "Like a jacuzzi" WTF! LOL

  • said off camera in reference to the steam coming off of it

  • Totally pointless, as the ejection port cover was closed each time it was exposed to dirt & dust. It is not practical to think that a port cover will be closed 100% of the time in a true shots fired combat environment.

  • clearly you didn't watch the entire video.

the rifle was exposed to dirt/dust via the open ejection port when firing prone during the test, firing prone and roll over prone during the match, and at the end it was place open dust cover into the dirt one more time.

    Keep hating, I don't care.

  • ...nevermind the fact that perception is such that any one of these tests would cause an AR15 to fail.

  • you are correct. Let's see this same test but this time throw dirt in the receiver. Betcha it won't make it three rounds let along 3 magazines.

  • PracticalTactical's comment is the most hilarious.

  • LIAR...this is bogus because:

You used clean dirt. You didn't pour dirt directly into the chamber. You didn't fire it WHILE it was buried. You didn't cycle the gun after filling it with dirt...which you also didn't do.

And you didn't use that hottie, Meg, to do the testing.

  • What's the difference between clean dirt and dirty dirt? It's all dirt.
