hey there can anyone tell me when this program is available? im an instructor for the Irish team and we could really do with this program in Ireland!!i would rather get this program than the xma program so any help on how to get the program or when its available would be great thanx
@loopkicks i was wondering when the Demo Team Program will no longer be on hold. i'm very interested and would like to talk to you guys and find out a bit more information on it.
It's amazing what these kids can do with only the muscles in their appendages. looks really good. I'd advise them not to think they can use that in the real world though.
Alot of people who Trick,do so because they need the next level to push to and if they don`t want to go UFC on anybody, lol.
We trickers just want to be understood as high level Martial Artists just like the masters of old,but in a different direction. Cause we know the difference.Plus being able to hit someone in the face with a "high Difficulty" move is awesome. Glad we have an understanding. :)
Gorgeous techniques. I'd love to get some of my students into this, but I only have a handful that have a base technique good enough to bring it to the level of tricking. I'm definitely going to see about building some tricking into the advanced JKD program. When are you guys headed for the east coast?
That doesn't seem to make sense to me, though. They are just supposed to be hired to perform tricks for people who are going to do other martial arts?
The thing is, when I read "Need help with your demo team?" it gives a different message. It seems like they are going to teach Demo Teams how to be "Demo Teams," or instructors how to build successful Demo teams.
They do compete, but they use tricking. But to trick, you don't need martial arts training. Most of tricking has little to nothing to do with the martial arts that they derive things from.
That's what I was asking. I don't know why you're bringing up the "combat" thing. You said they use martial arts, too. I'm just correcting the fact that it doesn't HAVE to use martial arts training. I know many trickers who just did things like gymnastics or just wanted to get into tricking without ever doing martial arts.
All I wanted to know was what this was about. I mean, I taught at my kung fu school for almost 2 years, and our demo team performed completely different to this. So, idk.
the program is meant to help those schools in need of assistance for developing their own demo teams. we've been inquired hundreds of times by school owners for this kind of training and we're answering those inquiries now. our instructors will travel to those schools who sign up for the program, and teach their students our methods of performing tricking techniques and hand/formation choreography HANDS ON just like the information next to the vid says
and its true what you say about trickers being able to learn tricks without martial arts experience. but 1) 9 outta 10 times, their technique will be sloppy, and 2) they'll look like horrible gymnasts rather than martial arts trickers, and 3) they're much more inclined to suffer injury. and even at that, tricks are only ONE PART of the program. you absolutely NEED martial arts training to learn how to kick and punch and hit stances that competitively forms and demo team choreography require
if you have your own demo team, then theres no reason for you to waste your time posting here lol this program is meant for the school in need of help for their demo team
I think that's kind of prejudice. I know many people who did martial arts and look a lot more sloppy because they don't have the proper tumbling training that a gymnast does. Or the flexibility. Also, gymnastics has many stances, and depending on the level, are a lot harder than the martial arts stances I learned from TKD and Kung Fu. I do think you need martial arts training for competitive forms, but tricking in it of itself doesn't. I've seen kids that admire your work trick without training.
uhmm if you're not kicking, you're not tricking lol tricking is the short term used for 'Martial Arts Tricking' and you absolutely need martial arts training to learn how to kick properly, because simply swinging your leg out there just isn't gonna cut it.
Ballet does kicking, too. "Tricking" is short for "Martial Arts Tricking" but it doesn't take martial arts to kick or trick. I've done martial arts for years and know gymnasts who can do a better 720 and aim it properly than many martial artists simply because fighting(martial arts) and performing(tricking) are not one in the same. A kick isn't specific to martial arts.
swimmers kick too n donkeys too HAHA but quit trying to be smart with me. we all know what kind of kicks we're talking about
im sure many gymnasts can 'kick' better than a low lvl martial artists. but theres NO WAY even an olympic lvl gymnast can kick as strong as a seasoned competitive martial artist without proper training. be more specific w/ yer comparisons
n yer wrong you must kick to be a tricker. its 1/3rd part of the definition of MA tricking as said by the MA tricking community itself
and thats all im gonna say to you buddie.. thanks for all the questions.. helped shed some light on what tricking is and what the program is all about for anyone else who might have been wondering
I made the ballet comment because you said you need martial arts training to know how to kick. There are many people who learn how to trick from youtube videos. It doesn't require training to swing your leg. And you don't need to learn TKD to keep your leg straight during a spin. I've done martial arts for many years and I taught for about half the time I practiced. I'm sure you're more experienced, but I have enough experience to know that tricking and martial arts aren't AS related as you say.
If that's the way you feel then that's the way you feel. Outside of the dojo, you can view tricking how you want to...everyone has their own definition and opinion of it.
However, this looks like a program that's for "martial art demo teams", and helping them learn about tricking in a way that relates to them.
Over the past few years, MAT has changed dramatically, and though there has been a lot of progress; there has also been far too many sacrifices on technique to make it happen.
The thing was, originally, I wasn't making comments about tricking as a sport. It just seemed to me like there were 2 things that existed in the sidebar. 1, we can teach your team how to trick. Or, 2, we can teach you how to create a demo team. And I wanted to know what it was, so I asked as general as I could, which was, "What is this team meant to do?"
I got my answer, but then tricking requiring martial arts came into topic when Loopkicks judged gymnasts as being "sloppy" at tricking w/o MA
uh ohhh you're twisting my words... when did i say gymnasts are sloppy at tricking without martial arts??? i said so-called "trickers" who try to trick without kicking will just look like sloppy gymnasts. 2 different things.
okay, I was pretty much just over this conversation. But quite simply, tricking is much more closely related to gymnastics and tumbling than it ever will be to martial arts. I've seen many different tricking performances from Matt Emig to Anis Cheurfa to Chris deVera, and I can say that tricking is meant for flash and appearance more than fight training. And that's the purpose of martial arts. When you move away from that, you are distancing from martial arts. Plain and simple.
This isn't about the same topic of what I was talking with you. It's one thing to say, what I got from you, that tricking requires martial arts training, at least to be good, than saying, "tricking is just martial arts done at a high level," which is what who I responded to said. The arguments don't have to be alike.
dude noone said it was for combat? Tricking is martial arts done at a high level there are kicks in pretty much every move, maybe not the fulls but the fulls are martial arts fulls not gymnastic fulls, i think u need to do some more work on what tricking is, and quit giving loopkicks a hard time cause that program looks awesome and with out the martail arts basics it looks bad so check it bro
If you think that tricking is advanced martial arts, then you're saying that trickers are better martial artists than Masters who don't do tricking. I know many masters that really don't do a lot of ariel things. In fact, many martial arts don't. Are you saying that high ranking judo fighters aren't advanced martial artists? I'm not giving Loopkicks a hard time. But as an ex-martial arts instructor, I know what real martial arts are. And they AREN'T tricking.
@trivium666fan let me help u out dude,I can see what u`re saying. But Tricking originated from SPORT MA and then took a life on it`s own.I trick and have been known to hit people with these moves that would "never work in a real fight" If u train it the right way it all works and some people use tricking as a way to keep pushing once they have grown to a high level MA wise. Please understand we trickers mean no disrespect when we defend what we do.See U soon Chris!
This post makes the most sense out of all the other responses I've gotten. There is no need/reason to apologize. I only ask that people don't take the practicality of a TKD roundhouse,Judo throw,or gung fu lock,& say tricking is more "advanced." Yes, some people can pull off a trick in a fight(i actually know 1 person who has), but that's different to pulling off a roundhouse to the knee or heel kick to the solar plexus.
At a high level?? It looks awesome. And I really think that does guys from loopkicks have a unique talent and are great gymnasts. But the only thing they´re kicking, are the flies out of the air. I think we all know how martial arts started, so I think we all know that tricking is just looking good. for a guy like me, that is training muay thai almost every day, it´s pretty funny that you say that I don´t train at a high level, just because I don´t twist 8 times while I kick my opponent
dude iam saying thats what tricking is that is one part of martial arts the fighting part is another with out a basic fondation ur "tricking " will be bad thats what iam saying its taking the basics and performing them high, u can be a high level martial artist and not trick thats fine but what iam saying is that martial arts tricking is martial arts done at a high level
What throws me off is that it seems like you're asking to go to certain martial art schools and are going to teach tricking forms, or at least extreme martial arts forms. That's what I get from the sidebar. I just wanted to know if that was what this is about.
Alright, see, that makes sense. Because "kicking harder, jumping higher," etc, can come from intensive training from any martial arts. And so I was torn between whether this was a "teach tricking" or "teach how to teach/teach how to make a demo team" thing. Sorry for the problem and if I caused any tension in anyone. lol
Completely agree. However, the clip where the entire group was doing backsweeps in synch showed Sessh doing a much cleaner backsweep. So I know he's capable. Also, the kid in the middle of the back line also had a superior demonstration of a backsweep.

Pretty much Demonstrate Martial arts.
Thats why its called a Demo Team.

That doesn't seem to make sense to me, though. They are just supposed to be hired to perform tricks for people who are going to do other martial arts?
trivium666fan 2 years ago
The Martial arts that they do is basically a mixture of several types of martial arts such as Wushu, Taekwondo, Capoiera, and etc.
People on the team arnt only doing tricks. They also compete and everything.
Like i said, this is a demo for people that want to learn the tricks used for demonstration purposes.
