As much as I appreciate the paintings, it feels like the maker of the video was just trying to get as many paintings in the video as possible. It doesn't have the same "flow" as the song. You get too easily distracted by the paintings when you realize you have to pay attention. And it takes away from the song. So it's a thumbs down from me, sorry.

As much as I appreciate the paintings, it feels like the maker of the video was just trying to get as many paintings in the video as possible. It doesn't have the same "flow" as the song. You get too easily distracted by the paintings when you realize you have to pay attention. And it takes away from the song. So it's a thumbs down from me, sorry.

@Homeport1989 Why do I have to read these bs comments with any good song? Let's agree that the song is indeed beautiful, but what does it matter that you are "strong"? Are you trying to say that you are cold? Cynical? Emotionally unavailable? Real men can cry when they hear or see beauty. They can also not cry and just appreciate the song. Or if the song is not in their taste, they can do whatever they want. What real men don't say is something along the lines of what you said.

Okay guys,bottom line is this.Vincent was one of the most brilliant minds of his time,with paintings shook the world.The only bad thing was that Vincent was never recognized in his time,which eventually drove him into insanity and caused him to commit suicide.Which would make you wonder,what would have happened if he was famous during his time?

I love this song, for some reason it is playing now within my head! Colored with all that I would paint, I can see the colors, they play also within my head, and they become the work at hand! The Visual is never as what I am seeing now! You can't begin to imagine the truth and beauty captured in a creative's imagery. I completely disagree that art is academic. It's not something that can be broken down or explained. This is coming from an atheist: other than great works of math and physics, great art is the closest thing we come to seeing God.

The main reason for all of his portraits of people, was cause it was the only way he could get any human interaction. There is a book written on his life, its very interesting read.

The song, as Don McLean said when questioned in multiple interviews, was written on the life of Vincent Van Gogh who struggled with Mental Illness and shot himself, resulting in his death two days later... I suggest you search the song and the meaning and get an understanding of it... references in the song (e.g. 'the weathered faces') refer to his works of art during his life.
