The REAL DEAL and on SCHELLACK! That's the original sound!!! No CD trickster can reproduce that sound! That vibration of the cartridge/needle system at breathless 78pm. And that scratching noise! All that while Little Richard is scratching/rasping through the grooves. Most 'white radio stations' would not play this stuff because it was way too hot - way too real REAL for sQuare America! All power here to Little Huge Richard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unlike the original American pressings, this one actually refers to the movie...which is probably the best of the '50s rock flicks...while LIttle RIchard and the band (actually known as the Upsetters) appear in the movie (doing She's Got It), this one is only played over the credits...but as always fun watching them big ol' platters spin...thanks again
@thecountofbasie I stand corrected...just watched another version of this, and the original Specialty 45 (I had a later reissue) does credit the film...who cares, really...just turn this one up LOUD...
@1812richardk2 covered often...the Animals did it in 1964 on their first album (released as a single as well), the Darts did it in the late '70s, and it's just too great a song not to have been credited/referenced/just plain swiped...also used to great and hilarious effect (especially if you've seen both movies) in John Waters' classic "Pink Flamingos"
Oh, yeah-the real deal! Written by Bobby Troup, the guy who wrote Route 66 covered by The Stones. I grew up in the 50's-The Golden Age. This song/movie (and Elvis) inspired Lennon-McCartney to play rock music. Fantastic!
