  • what gears do have in it

  • @mason3571000 we ran 4.30 gears in the Fairmont.

  • Such a sad video. Fairmont is one ugly car with nothing about it that is memorable or attractive in anyway. It's a box. Horrible handling. Such a waste. Only in Texas....you guys have been around beaners too long.

  • The Fairmont is a great sleeper car, especially if you keep it looking semi-stock. With a little work, you could really surprise a few Mustang or Chevy guys with a car similar to the one in this video.

My 1st car was a slow and rusty 1982 2 door Fairmont sedan that refused to die. The 3.3L straight 6 engine is a real work horse.

  • fuck this car!!!!! esta chingoonsoteeee

  • That is Awsome Man!!

  • That exhaust note is sick! What exhaust setup is it running?

  • My grandpa had one of these brand new. Same light blue exterior with light blue interior. Always wanted to do a build up like this. Car is stupid simple but the sleeper appeal is just awesome! Kind of car that pisses guys off when their staring at the tail lights after getting smoked makes me all giddy like a school girl on the playground at recess! Nice work guys, I love it!!

  • i think my 79 fox body wont mind a new 4.6l heart transplant. Plus good learning experience since im only 17

  • im planning on doing the same to my mustang. how hard was it to get the computer and everything to fit

  • @riderthewake02 Awesome! I added a link to the full build up in the description.

  • @latemodelrestoration im gonna have to talk to you about some issues when they come up. I saw the guide and it is insanely detailed. Going to use it for sure. defiantly wouldnt want to get my ass kicked by you fairmont

  • That's pretty bad ass!

  • That's pretty bad ass!

  • HOLLY SHIT BROTHER!!!!!UGLY BODY BAD ASS MOTOR

  • 4.6 revs fast good lil engine / 150 shot of dope / and the right gear /stall u could go 10's

  • my ears wont quit ringing..... hear let me turn off the fuel pump.

  • Beautiful car

  • love it

  • Any plans to sell that car?

  • @ jmann229 - How do you figure the 4.6 is "underpowered"? It's a good SB that makes gobs of power in all the places the pushrod 302 doesn't. I used to dislike the 4.6 too....till I bought one. Then there was no turning back, great engines those mod motors are (read in a Yoda voice).

  • Sooooo...are there track times with that thing yet?

  • it hooks up good as hell. i like that.

  • love this actually thinking about getting a fairmont and doing something kool with it like this

  • What year is the Fairmont in? My guess would be a 1978-80

  • sick as hell

  • look at this fool this guy has his life savings in his car dumb democrat

  • That guy drives like he's scared

  • mada facka

  • it dont sound like a 4.6 it sounds like a 5.0

  • The ultimate sleeper! I love it, great work. Imagine it with steel wheels, a quiet exhaust, stock interior. This would drive the ricers nuts! This has me thinking really hard.

  • Do you guys know if the aftermarket subframe connectors fit the Fairmonts, I called them and they said they aren't sure it is the same wheelbase, etc. Thanks! Nice care!. Got one for me to work on now!

  • @petersdraggon fairmonts should bolt up to any 79-2004 Mustang without much hassle.

  • I had one just like that back then

  • built ford tough....with FORD STUFF!

  • This thing is great. Just killer!

  • badass car...

  • I love this. I have a 1980, same body style. It has the 200/6. I'd love to put that motor in my car!!!

  • mmmm

  • i want one

  • best sounding ford period i have owned one mustang a 91 with a built 5.0 roughly 380hp with 3inch exhaust single chambers with turndowns didnt sound anywhere near that good

  • that thing is so badass nice job

  • FUCKING SICK!!!!!!!

  • @jmann229

try 3100 with driver and 12.13 @ 114 on a dot drag radial. Look for 11's on slicks...

  • I had a 1980 Fairmont that I bracket raced and had the same color as yours expect it was a 2.3 4-cyl and Auto. Paid $300 bucks for it a raced it 6 times. Ran a 13.00 Second time on the 1/8 lol.

  • i just got a old Fairmont today and its been siting for 5 years but it runs great and drives great but where putting it in a demo derby

  • Damn dude.........that thing launches sweet!

  • nice car, great soung

  • People don't realize how much of a sleeper the Fairmont is. Just about all Mustang componets will fit it (Fox body style) but the Fairmont weights about 750 lbs less. I know, I use to race a Fairmont with a built 5.0 complete with 8 point cage! Besides, a Fairmont won Pinks All-Out in Mich!

  • @outlawracer2229 yup the fox body mustang parts will fit because the fairmont was the first fox body.

  • IM having a 3v swap done myself, in my 2000 GT..My car is an auto and i am using the stock 2v computer, so im running cam lockouts..They say with the lockouts you lose 10-20 HP. My car wis just in bolton form. Im wondering what numbers it will make with a tune at the wheels?

  • Awesome job! Almost makes we wish I had thought of this myself!

  • i would give my right nut for this car lol

  • thanks for sharing your build up with us. i've read your blog over and over and have decided to start my build useing my 90gt. I was hopeing you could answer a couple of questions. Is there a booster from another model or brand to keep my power brakes? Also will my power rack easily plumb to power steering pump? I hope to be giveing you guys a call soon for my conversion parts......great job on a sweet build

  • lol thats a loud ass fuel pump..Nice sleeper..

  • i have a '79 2.3 fairmont. this is my dream right here! what's cool is that they're sleepers! no one knows what you have under there ;)

  • Damn that thing tucks it's ass and scoots! Nice work guys!

  • is it a holley blue or an arromotive? the list of pumps options is endless. why don'y u just find wrecked 05 unless u need more psi.malibu killer! lol and wonder if that was cop in the crwn vic :) roasty jacks.Ive been wnating to pit a 3v in my 85gt since 05 came out cause 2 of my 5 oh vlvs looked like magic mushys when I Bought back in 03, a bronco35 is goin in.stock for now solid cam l8r on.

  • sick !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • First, let me tell you that this car sounds PERFECT, even better than Flows. I've never even heard of jones mufflers, but I'm in love with the sound. Which model are you using? Also, what's the wet weight on that Fairmont? Keep up the good work and the amazing support you offer the Fox community!

  • I would all most trade in my Bullitt for this car! Very cool car.

  • Thank you for keeping it all Ford.

  • i love these fairmonts!!! build more of these people!!!

  • I'm thinking of doing the swap on a fully custom two door crown Victoria 80-87 model years, I read the 5 pages on this car and now I think that its doable;) I plan to use a frame from a 2004 interceptor since it will allow more room for header clearance as well as updated suspension.

Thank you for sharing this build with us all, great job!

  • No problem, thanks for sharing!

  • your car sounds like sex

  • what's that sound???

  • the fuel pump

  • sounds great!! wanna trade for a 90"lx 5.0??lol

  • the 4.6 is the most badass small block ever made ever

  • holy cow! you just did that! sweet! i used to have an 83 merc zephyr jus like that only a merc!

  • whish that my fairy took off like that LOL

  • Wow! Has it been down the strip yet? Looks and sounds great...other than the fuel pump, that is. How come you didn't use the LTD tank & in-tank fuel pump?

  • thanks. tell me more about the ltd tank. i've been looking for a solution for the fuel pump configuration i'm running now.

  • Can't say I'm an expert on it, but the owner of a Fairmont coupe I was considering mentioned having an LTD tank w/pump for doing a 5.0 EFI swap. I'm guessing that somewhere in the 83-86 years, EFI was offered, maybe on the LX or SSP models? Since it's still Fox body, it should be the same. If that route works, please let me know. I'm still looking for the right Fairmont & I like submerged fuel pumps way more than external, especially for safety reasons.

  • Sweet

  • i have a 1979 fairmont in a 4 door with the 3.3 with diffent diff set up

  • Damn!!!*** Now thats a Cold Piece!!!***

  • bad ass.i just did a 5.0 in my 4 door fairmont and it hauls ass, that thng hs to be quick as hell.

  • is that loud humming noise the fuel pump???

  • yep. the pump is sucking air and causing much noise

  • Cool. Whatcha got for a trans. and diff in that thing??? Would have been even cooler in the Fairmont Futura Sport Coupe or the Mercury Zephyr Z-7 Sport Coupe.

  • The trans is a Tremec TKO 600 and the diff is a Mustang 8.8" with a stock traction lock. Check out our blog for full details.
