In Thai culture the lowest part of a person (the foot) must never be near the highest point of a person (the head) a foot in the face is a major sign of disrespect. This is also why you never put your feet up on tables in Thailand :)
a guy at my gym have trained in thailand under a thailand champ and he told our gym in thailand if u kick someone in the face with the bottom of ur foot it is a sign of disrespect
Alexander The Great's campaign made the "Pankration" (Παγράτιον), the most ancient martial art of the world known in Asia, and all asian arts have the Pagration as their same ancestor. That's one more reason i am proud as a Greek. (There are also lot of reasons i am less proud, such as the International Monetary Fund :))
You are missing the point what the guy is saying at the beginning of the documetary. He is refering that foot is the lowest part of body so pointing or touching with a foot is great insult in thai society and they are using legs to kick each other in sport. So don´t go stepping any thai coins because there is a picture of a king steppin on it is same as spittin kings face in western civilization. .Oh jeah and front kick can be effective i have broke ribs with it at sparring session
@sylontuk That's true, the shin is a primary weapon in Muay Thai. The foot is also used in a number of techniques...the Teep or push-kick is probably the most common...Muay Thai is not the only Martial Art style to use the shin and foot though, Kyokushin Karate for example uses the shin to devastating effect also
@panzr i love the muay thai style , i've seen the push kick used in a self defence video against a man wielding a knife and it seemed very effective as the legs alternated from use of left and right to continuously push the guy away and this was in an elevator ... it wasn't real but it showed just about the best defence in that situation , the knife-disarm move's are dangerous because it could slit your wrist or bring you within arms length of someone much stronger/faster which mean's failure ..
@sylontuk They do use the Lower shin primarily, but a Muay Thai kick, Called the Rainbow Kick, uses the foot and can do some great damage to the face. The shin kick isnt commonly used in the face but on the body.
oh yea then why use india indu symbol? becuase its from india same as kun khmer is from india. dont believe me? search this in yahoo or google Adithada its the mother of kun khmer from southern india for thousand of years. and southern india is where the exil prince of india was exile from and went o create cambodia.
@Nakorn24 but u dont hv Muay thai in India..it's developed in Thailand.ur country is home for not only Muay Thai..also for Buddhism as well.but ur countrymen don't know the value of good things.instead they went after cheap things like ethnic violence etc...so u Indians now have to come all the way to Thailand if u wana learn real Muay Thai...how pity is that???

Yantra designs and patterns originate from India. But, the Yantra Tattoo is from Cambodia. They contain ancient Khmer and ancient Pali script.
