  • You have to use specific tracer BBs.

They are quite a bit more expensive than 'normal' ones though.

    Approx 6 X the price!

    They are fun though...

  • do you have to use a special kind of bb or does any kind work??

  • I made it myself.

I've been thinking about doing it pretty much since I first got into Airsoft in Oct'05.

Basically it's three 3mm Ultra Violet LEDs mounted in the hop unit, 2 in the feed tube and 1 in the top, directly above the feed tube.

It's an AK by the way, if you haven't looked at the other video which shows the switching action.

  • did you make this cool thing?

if so... can you tell me how.... i have been wondering how to make one for some time now!

    thanks!

  • The first few shots in semi look dim, but to the naked eye they look as bright as the full auto ones do.

I'll try filming it again soon...

  • The total cost for all the parts was approx £15($30) but I paid over the odds for the LEDs and the switch, I've found them cheaper since. I reckon you could do it for around £10 ($20)The mag has some neodymium magnets epoxied into the top, which activate a micro reed switch in the magwell (which powers the LEDs from 2 AA cells) when the mag is inserted.

  • You could do it without the reed switch and 'magnetic mags', just put in a normal switch somewhere.

I've done it this way on a friend's G36, with all 3 LEDs in the feed tube because there is so much room above the magwell in that model, plus the magwell is a separate piece so the installation can be made really neatly.
