Very good video showing the details which is the heart of the boat. Similiar to one a buddy of mine and I made a few years ago, but with modern techniques instead. We used stainless screws instead of sinews and planks made of mahagony marine plywood, but the same framework made from fir. While we were justifiably proud of the craftmanship, I must admit yours is more interesting. I enjoyed your video. Thank you.
Ive got these pallets made of oak I think. The slats seem perfect for a frame because theyre so tough.Ithink from a single pallet I could make a whole boat.Problem is how do I join these slats each 3-4 feet long to make a 24 kayak?
Short answer: don't bother, way too much work for questionable results. Oak is too heavy for longitudinals anyway. There isn't much material in a kayak, its more about the labor. It shouldn't be hard to find what you need, scrap or otherwise. If the grain is good the pallets might make good rib material
yeah ribs is what i had on mind. What do you use for longitudinals?I want to make one that breaks down for transport so im looking for ways to join longitudinals.
Beautiful boat, how long and wide is it?, I built a single frame boat like that at Spirit line in Anna Cordes Wa.
with Cory Freeman last year and I love it, their great boats, I hope you post more pictures when you cover it. Do you have any other boats that you built?

most of the world's hard wood currently resides in pallets.
