@StarHorseLover1 1. hows a crop on the butt helpng? it inflicts worser things. i had a constent rearer and i can gaurentee you, buckings ALOT more dangerous!!!! and a crop genererally a tap between teh ears, makes them stop.

When he reared she just let him stand there. That is unintentionally rewarding him for rearing. He's trying to get out of work. This girl is gonna lose her confidence. The trainer needs to get on that horse and use a crop and make it listen. Or teach the girl to be firm.
@jessicalana91 There are other methods then a crop. I said not to beat the horse horse with it. A few taps is ok, but whaking the horse repediatly is uncalled for. You can also give him a few nudges in the side. The girl should also be more firm, I agree with you on that.
Pretty horse but needs more work to be in competitions. Shouldn't be rearing or swinging his head around. I have to agree with some other posts, probably shouldn't have placed at least on that day anyway. Keep working & don't push too hard, you want to be a team & have the horse enjoy working too.
ur horse was uncomfortable at the start, you can tell by his head. i knowwat it feels like to barrel race, and how hard it is. my one horse reaed up in an event and fell on me, my other one bit off a part of my ear. but i do it for thelove. my new boy is an angel. best of luck 2 ya, mayb ill c yah at state one day.
Well of course i like it, but it then comes with responsibilities too. I dont have that kind of money to let a trainer ride my horse everyday then I hop on at the show, nor do I have the time to ride my horse everyday to get it in show condition, feed, groom, clean stalls, ect. Now that ive gotten older, ive realized there is better things in life then riding horses to me. Like my family, friends, and school. Its my opinion only so im not asking you to tell me i'm wrong. I have rode just about any kind of riding. I tryed barrel racing hunters jumpers western pleasure horsemanship showmanship reining equitation. My favorite is definatly barrel racing. I show it a little every now and then. Im going to try to qualify for nationals one last time then ill prolly retire for a couple years then get back in it later.
Ive been riding around 11 years and im just burnt out from it. Ive been going to shows every weekend for the past 10 years and it gets old. BTW i am not quitting because of this video and that day, im just quitting because im tired of it. and also, ive got back on too. Try getting drug across and arena on a barrel racing horse, falling off, and getting right back on. Later on, i was still in pain so i went to the emergancy room, and come to found out i broke my collar bone.
i don't think you should have quit riding. i've been riding for about seven years and let me tell you, not every day is a perfect one. everyone has days like that. so everyone saying she's a bad rider, you've only seen her bad day. that's all you have to judge her on. she's telling you to watch another video so you can see what she looks like now, and that's all that matters.
I know its not easy. Its a great sport and one of the hardest to learn. Im just burnt out from it. ive been going to shows every weekend for the past ten years.

I've had worse. I almost broke my nose on a horse's mane once, because he reared extremely high. It's just a matter of staying calm and finding your place and understanding what you did wrong.
Aww :) at least it was a small controlled rear ^^ it was a good experiance ^^ my 1st rear the horse throw her head back and nearly body slamed me into the ground..she reared over backwards then tried to kick me and took off over the hills. Thank god she threw me a tad..the saddle horn wouldv'e killed me had she not. I got away with just a hurt leg. I still got on her once in awhile, but when i do she bucks me off 8/

Look you are not a "small rider" for that horse and you can NOT ride. get lessons it helps :) and that is not a big rear. and if you had more contact then i bet you $1000 he would not have done that! its always the riders falt not the horse. remember that!

@piersremus I have seen people who dont own horses ride better then horse owners all the time, to be honest, some of the horse owners i see today dont deserve it.
Oh my gosh, if I would have ridden like that on my horse he would have been pissed off your lucky your horse didn't buck. Logan (my horse) if i rode like that he would have ran off with me, bucked, reared and everything and you confused him you kicked him and pulled on his mouth that is no way a rider should ride. Also btw you call that tiny girl on big horse? Yeah, right. I rode this one horse named Ash and he was a 17.3 hh horse and at that time i was only 5 ft and he bucked on me and i fell.

Ur reins r way 2 loose which is why u needed to make such big movements w/ ur arms &hands to get him to turn.Ur heels should be down a lot more too,this would be easier if u weren't gripping so much w/ ur knees & u ingaged ur lower leg more.It would help ur posture,balance,& u would be able to give more subtle leg aids.
On the other hand,I do like how you didn't panic or stop thinking when he reared.Try riding exercises like dropping a stirrup or dropping both stirrups while doing circles.
I don't know what aqha riding is, but you didn't look like a bad rider. Sure your reins were too long so to me it looked like you had to sacrifice form to keep control of him. But I'm no expert as I haven't ridden in over 10 years. I really hope you didn't quit riding forever :(

yeaahh your riding aqha and personally....i think hunter aqha isa terrible way to ride english. your reins were so loose, his front end was wiggling around in short jerks when you asked him to turn he fell on his forehand. of course you werent chosen that pattern run was awful. his head was everywhere aswell. ick, it was just awful no offense, im sure you;ve improved but in this video i was a bit shocked

@Guitarchick316 english is different then western in many ways. so wat if u can ride a 16 hand tall arab with nothing but a halter and lead. i can jump with my thouroughbred(same height as ur arab)3 ft 8 with nothing not even need a halter OR a lead. I ride western too. I mostly barrel race. That was like my 2nd show on him? but anyways, I barrel race mostly. I ride NBHA. Do you? I made it to nationals this year(: you can look at my videos to see that i do barrel race good. I just dont like english.
@Indiancreekstable sorry about my opinion, just one of my BIGGEST issues is a horse getting pissed from a rider not doing the right thing...I dont know what the NBHA is and I dont do any competitions, Im glad you made it to nationals. I set up my own barrels at my grandparents' house(that's where my horse is) and i do it at a walk. I do because my horse is 2 1/2 and not COMPLETELY broken, he's about 80% there! :) I'm putting together a video of pictures(my horses) over this summer. watch it plz?
Horseback riding, in any discipline, is not just about making the horse do what you want. It's about working with the psyche of the horse that so you are a team. Mixed, unclear messages will confuse a horse. Who cares that colleges are looking at you. If you can't keep grades up you don't ride. So what that you ride spur stopped. Not everyone wants to do that. We all ride according to what makes us happy. My goal: no saddle or bridle, natural horsemanship. Competition isn't everything.

When you ride two handed the reins always look like they are really tight but they need to be that way so you can feel the horses mouth and so you can direct them

Look you are not a "small rider" for that horse and you can NOT ride. get lessons it helps :) and that is not a big rear. and if you had more contact then i bet you $1000 he would not have done that! its always the riders falt not the horse. remember that!

@missimmababe She never blamed the horse, and she probably knows she needs more contact. She said she usually rides him with more contact. She changed because they were at a hunter show and she was trying to ride more like the others. Maybe she shouldn't have changed her riding style that quickly, but it's a show. She was probably nervous.

Oh my gosh, if I would have ridden like that on my horse he would have been pissed off your lucky your horse didn't buck. Logan (my horse) if i rode like that he would have ran off with me, bucked, reared and everything and you confused him you kicked him and pulled on his mouth that is no way a rider should ride. Also btw you call that tiny girl on big horse? Yeah, right. I rode this one horse named Ash and he was a 17.3 hh horse and at that time i was only 5 ft and he bucked on me and i fell.

Ur reins r way 2 loose which is why u needed to make such big movements w/ ur arms &hands to get him to turn.Ur heels should be down a lot more too,this would be easier if u weren't gripping so much w/ ur knees & u ingaged ur lower leg more.It would help ur posture,balance,& u would be able to give more subtle leg aids.
On the other hand,I do like how you didn't panic or stop thinking when he reared.Try riding exercises like dropping a stirrup or dropping both stirrups while doing circles.

I don't know what aqha riding is, but you didn't look like a bad rider. Sure your reins were too long so to me it looked like you had to sacrifice form to keep control of him. But I'm no expert as I haven't ridden in over 10 years. I really hope you didn't quit riding forever :(

yeaahh your riding aqha and personally....i think hunter aqha isa terrible way to ride english. your reins were so loose, his front end was wiggling around in short jerks when you asked him to turn he fell on his forehand. of course you werent chosen that pattern run was awful. his head was everywhere aswell. ick, it was just awful no offense, im sure you;ve improved but in this video i was a bit shocked

@Indiancreekstable sorry about my opinion, just one of my BIGGEST issues is a horse getting pissed from a rider not doing the right thing...I dont know what the NBHA is and I dont do any competitions, Im glad you made it to nationals. I set up my own barrels at my grandparents' house(that's where my horse is) and i do it at a walk. I do because my horse is 2 1/2 and not COMPLETELY broken, he's about 80% there! :) I'm putting together a video of pictures(my horses) over this summer. watch it plz?

Horseback riding, in any discipline, is not just about making the horse do what you want. It's about working with the psyche of the horse that so you are a team. Mixed, unclear messages will confuse a horse. Who cares that colleges are looking at you. If you can't keep grades up you don't ride. So what that you ride spur stopped. Not everyone wants to do that. We all ride according to what makes us happy. My goal: no saddle or bridle, natural horsemanship. Competition isn't everything.
