Those have nothing to do with sound pack. Those are in the game; and in versus mode---it signifies points (hits) being attributed to an infected player. In other words, that hunter is doing damage to Bill, and those "rings" mean Bill is taking damage that many times due to the hunter's pounce (and the accompanying zombies around them).

Honestly, I have no idea. I know for a fact that is what it is though; but the noise is implemented so that it doesn't really stand out when you're playing. It kind of works perfectly, not annoying or anything. Maybe it always played and you never noticed?
