  • Very informative... thank you for sharing. I love doing all sorts of jewelry. I keep finding more and more different techniques and new ideas....some I even come up with myself. I have been looking for fine sterling silver to make a few simple rings. Thats how I came across your site and videos. Hope to see more of you. Deborah

  • As to annealing, this refers to a method to soften up your silver. If you are doing wire wrapping, you use either half hard or hard silver. If you work your silver, for example, by twisting it, shaping it or rolling/hammering it flat, you force the molecules closer together and the wire 'hardens'. By heating it until it glows slightly cherry red, you force the molecules to reorganize more loosely and the metal softens again.

  • well, the point of this vid was mostly to demo the use of the solder pick...but I will do other videos in the future and have had requests for bezel ones. When making a bezel, you basically solder a piece of flat wire on the lower end of a strip of bezel wire..this creates a shelf when you shape the bezel to fit the stone, keeping it from falling out the back, without having to make a solid back.

  • what do you mean about the bezel at first? do you solder a wire to make a kind of "brace"??? there is alot you say that i have no clue what you mean..what does aneal mean? you go wayyy to fast would like to know how you do the bezzel from beg.. to end

  • I'll remember that for a future demo. I just recently got a better camera and sound equipment, so hope to make more of these in the future.

  • Very informative. I would have liked to seen how the Step Bezel was done.

  • On smaller projects, I will mostly use one solder, either hard or medium, and will sometimes drop down a level if I need to build up the design or add settings. Since the majority is mostly done on one plane, it's not usually necessary to use different solders.

  • Do you use different solders (hard, medium, easy) or do you just use hard on all joints?
