The Kamehameha Wave doesn't belong to Goku, Master Roshi has the rights to it. Trunks is a Martial Artist, he doesn't have to limit himself to just learning his Fathers techniques. Also, keep in mind that Goten is his best friend so I'm sure they know each others moves inside and out.
