She is Divine!!! And if we could see her Swan Lake again... I remember a Japanese TV crew shooting her in it at the Kirov in 1985 or 1986. She was fantastic! And not only that night.
For those who find it appropriate to criticize this artist or any other, would you please put on your pointe shoes and demonstrate how it should be done. If this be possible, you would be in class now and working feverishly in rehearsals instead of criticizing others on Youtube.
@fishyfish4444 So....every movie critic must make an Oscar-winning movie to rightfully criticize a movie? If one were to point out one's dislike of Dali, one must paint as well as Michelangelo? Or perhaps only the President can disapprove of a Congressman's execution of his or her job?
This counter argument of "Oh, let's see you do better!" when dealing with matters of taste and technique is childish at best and is a lazy substitute for an intelligent defense of one's opinon.
@fishyfish4444 would you say that to simon cowell? he can't sing or dance or do anything, but he manages to criticize people. Sure, we aren't simon cowell, but it isn't illegal to criticize videos of dancers on youtube. It might be pointless to criticize dancers on youtube who are professionals because they probably wont read everybodys comments, but if people want to say things let them. They aren't harming you in the rpocess so let it be. Just enjoy the dancing :)
@fishyfish4444 Simon Cowell can't sing or dance or anything else, yet he judges people, and just because he has money and social power means people don't think what he is doing is wrong. Offering ADVICE to what COULD be made better isn't horrible, it is constructive. You do make a good point with what you said, however since the pro dancers will not be reading our comments it is just a means of people expressing their own opinions. No hamr is done by that. :)
The Maryinsky style of port de bras is distinctive. I can't remember seeing another ballet company with the same technique, although I've seen American and European ballet performances. If you are not accustomed to this style, no one should blame you for being curious.
Maybe you noticed... Once you write some negtive comment - everyone wants to kill you here. I hate that... We have a right not to like some videos! :) (This one is actually ok I think)
Terekhova is the only ballerina I've seen in this variation who really understands how the port de bras should be done, particularly in the beginning 'walking' section. Outstanding technique--her performance of Talisman is my favorite!
Only two things: One I can't stand it when they break their line at the wrists so much...it should only be a little bit. And two, when doing pirouettes, the toe should not be extending past the leg so much. Other than those two things, she looked fine. *Starr*
the choreography for this Pas de deux is by Pyotr Gusev, and the music for this particular variation is Mikhail Ivanov (the variation comes from Petipa's 1888 ballet "The Vestal")
One of the very best at work here. Her Diana & Acteon also remains one of the very best.

They say those who can't do teach. So maybe those who taught are criticizing but does that make their opinions any less valid? I don't think so.

I love Tatiana Terekhova's dancing. I like watching her feet....she makes it look so easy and smooth.
rudycat8 1 year ago
I think the "hunched" look gives her a sort of playful, archaic look that seems to fit with the music.
moppyXD 1 year ago
@moppyXD
I agree! It gives her dancing a vintage, ethereal quality.

Has an "old ballet" essence. It's nice. Not great feet, or perfect legs, but a really nice quality :)
