Hahaha...I think this guy has watched "Over the Top" one too many times. He turned his belt around 0:04 like Sylvester Stallone turned his cap around in the movie to give him more "strength".
Make sure you can do it every time in practice before you try do do it on a demo. No matter how many times you get it right from now on, people will always talk about the one time you got it wrong.
I've been a serious kung fu man since1974. I can punch the equivalent of my own body weight .If I punched a solid brick with everything I've got, I am sure I would break a few bones. I doubt that I would break the brick. A real opponent doesn't stand still for half a minute or so while you get lined up and psyched up. If I wanted to break a break, I'd use a sledge hammer.
@TheGooberment , when you do a multiple brick break like this most all your focus is on having enough power to go through that you can take for granted even thinking about aiming. i know it sounds silly, but your adrenaline is kicking in and you get in the zone, your mind is telling your body how to mentally psyche up to just blast through those things. ive not missed that bad but i have hit off center and messed up breaks because of that.
Traditional martial arts are completely useless...case closed. What the hell does being able to punch stationary brittle concrete prove anyway? Never understood this nonsense. I thought it was for hyperactive children.
Llyoto Machida is completely typical of traditional Shotokan, more so than many other practitioners who focus on light point shots. Clearly he has proven that there is value in traditional arts when correctly applied. (Btw, "Machida karate" is b.s.)
The point of breaking is actually generally meant to train fighters for blocking blows, which is why most breaking demonstrations are performed with the forearm. A skilled breaker can bruise his opponent's arm while blocking a punch.
Furthermore, another karate style "kyokushin," maintains a win-loss ratio of roughly 2-1 against Muay Thai, the darling striking style of the "real-world" advocates.
I could go on at length, but the bottom line is that, in practice, styles that maintain a consistent, practical application and intense competition tend to have value. Whether or not they are considered "traditional" has no effect compared to the methods of training and competition.
@TheNobleApe I tend to agree with you. I'd also like to know where you heard that statistic on Kyokushin, since I practice it and love it, and It's getting very old to see Muy Thai people hogging the youtube comment area with their "expertise."
@MilitantBlackGuy1 And that's supposed to justify why he's representative of EVERYONE in a martial art/sport that has at least a few millions members worldwide?
Ouf! Grats on putting things in perspective. But listen, even if a dude is a blackbelt, it doesn't necessarily represent his real level. Some teachers in martial arts make you advance regardless of your skill level. For all we know, he could have just painted his friggin' belt.
@Theronnnnnnnnn I'm sorry but seeing as though I've seen a lot of WTF perform I have a good perspective of them as martial artists. This video furthers that perspective not creates it.
@MilitantBlackGuy1 Well I forgive you. But seeing as I've done WTF TKD since I was 9, then going on to Muay Thai and Karate, I've got a good idea of how martial artists usually act/perform. It's nice to see that you've seen a lot of them. But even seeing 100 guys doing WTF TKD in front of you is a very bad example to judge how most of the others perform. This man here, I can assure you, is FAR from being a good representation of how a black belt should be able to punch.
OMG i freaking pissed myself hahaha first i tought that he would fail at breaking them all but when i saw the end i just cracked up(just like his fingers) whahamuhahahbwhahah!!!
LOL!!!! Haah! haaaaaa!! Fucken dumbass! How da fuck u gonn miss dat fricken brick right in front u...and how many times u gotta aim your punch right jus to fuck up at the last second... fool should walk around with his pants down cuz he ain't no black belt.... after this clip he shouldn't have any hah! Oh yea that hit gotta hurt like hell dayum!!

@TheNobleApe or break...the saying in our school is that we "block to break", which is why traditional Japanese Kempo is considered a hard style.
