Maximas are the best car in it's catagory. Literally nothing even comes close to the reliabilty, drivability, and mod ability that you can get out of the VQ engine. People that are saying they are shit literally have no idea what they are talking about. Go scroll around on maxima.org and look for yourself. You'll never get anything out of an accord or civic on stock engine like you do with the maxima. Throwing a 3.5 in this and SC makes it an absolute beast. Thing is sleeper as hell.

And I do actually see my car as a bit on the heavy side...but it's a good compromise between build quality, looks/shape/design, price, and performance/chassis dynamics and it's a hell of a lot more rewarding to drive than any late model sedan with a big motor I've driven to date...big cars feel big and are nowhere near nimble enough (save for a few oddities which cost a fortune)

The maxima is a well built comfortable cruiser but should just remain that...well maintained and not tuned to such extremes...if you want a sports car buy a sports car i say...

Well no offense but technically with all that weight and front wheel drive the maxima is not really a worthy base as a proper performance car that is driver focussed. You can't beat physics. All new cars are built with more and more mass added...supposedly fuel efficient but at the end of the day they sill cost more to own.

@mastercater7 I can only guess as it doesn't interest me enough to try and find out specs of an american market spec maxima...so I'll just say 1500-1600+ kg which is tons...my 3 litre straight 6 na skyline 1992 with a 4 speed auto can stay on the tale of early 2000 350 chev powered sedans (think vauxhall monaro but a sedan version)...and my car is running VERY rough at the moment.

Point is, if you want a fast car, you're wasting your money trying to make a 2 ton barge fast...you'll get chased up by much lighter cars with lots less power and as soon as you hit a corner, the tables will turn...but hey it's your money :)

Clearly not because it only weighs 130 pounds less than mine. Your car weighs 1310 kg, which is 2882 lbs. However my car weighs 1369 kg, which is 3012 lbs. With just the engine swap in my car it was a low 13 second car and with a 75 shot of nitrous I was out running Z06 vettes, barely.

With the supercharger, I will outrun 750cc crotch rockets and run even with some 900's. The engine swap only costs around $1,000 and even less depending on engine pricing. You implied that my car would not be rewarding to drive when the reality is that your Skyline is slow. My Maxima is a 450whp daily driver and is very rewarding to drive, I promise ;) I know that I cannot beat physics and I'm not trying to, even though I have plenty of suspension modifications. It handles better than you think

And if you want a real challenge, or a test of power, race against a car you KNOW is supposed to beat you (i.e. V8 Mustang or Camaro vs Maxima) and have fun, regardless of the outcome. 90% of my driving is also either to school or work, so the racing I do is either from red lights up to 60mph or 70, or highway racing...

Oh yeah it has suspension lol. Right now I am running Tein adjustable coilovers, poly motor mounts and subframe bushings, and a rear strut bar. I have a rear sway bar sitting in the garage waiting to be installed as well.
