  • What heads are those the front an the back one?

  • @SuperBaller2020: both Remo Powerstroke 3. batter head is coated

  • I like #4.

  • hey did you guys put any dampening stuff in the bass?!

in case you did what and how much and where did you placed it

  • @007seppy It is only one towel rolled together and put at the batter head. The batter as well as the resonant head was a Powerstroke 3 so this also includes dampening.

  • #2 or #5 are my fav. I usually use a Beta 52 but will look into the Sennheiser. The D6 is good for specific styles but is not versitile to my ears.

  • funny..I usually put in just inside the hole (5) and take off some around 200, but looking at the graph it's a bad place to put it if you dont like 200k. Middle of the shell!! Thanks.

  • 3rd is not correct: the mic position is near the key of the skin: in this position you have less sound due the node of the skin.

  • what condenser mic are you using? I see one at 1:12

  • @mattdrumscrazy

Hi, the mic you see (but not hear) is an AKG C414 TL II. This test was only recorded with an e602 inside the drum without any effects or EQ's to demonstrate the large effect of positioning. Cheers

  • I'd gate that mic, you can hear the bass pedal being stomped on

  • Definatley the 3rd

  • 5th

  • i like the 5th

  • #2 or #5

  • I am an avid SHURE fan, and I use their mics for just about everything. But I tried out a Sennheiser e602, and I fell in love with it! Mic is a GREAT combination of bottom end punch with clarity

  • SOUNDHOLE FTW!!!

  • do u have anything in the drum?

  • Ya, I'd like to see if there'd be similar results with the D112. I've got the head off the front of the drum with a couple packing blankets tented over it and the mic stand, gives a nice natural puffy compression. (Oh, I also have the drum 1/3 filled with strips of newspaper and a down pillow to keep them from falling out.) Not needing any compression. NIce.

    Good video there guy.

  • interesting test, it would be good to compare a d112 to the 602

  • I have a question for u... I use audio-technica mics on my bass drum and all i get from that like a thump sound.. dont knw y i get that sound. u think u could help??

  • @jacoboscar79 get audix mics man, they hav a really compact sound.

  • Very cool of you to make and post this video. It's very helpful. Nice work.

  • I love that mic, most people are so quick to grab a beta.

  • Second is my favorite

  • wow really a very good video you should do more tests but whit all the things i mean snare toms and cymbasl

my favorite is the second position

  • thanks for this vid man, its really helpfull!

could you do this in context with the entire drumkit? would be great if you could!
