you have a netflix account? Need one first, and then go to the PS3 portal on Netflix (should be /ps3 after the web address) and it will take about 1 business day to ship out the disc
I too have both systems and I just got my PS3 Netflix disc in the mail today.
I have to say that I like the menu layout much better on the 360 though. The menu on the PS3 just feels kind of cheap to me. It seems a little easier and faster to browse on the 360 too.
The biggest problem I have with the PS3 version of Netflix is that every time I try to play a 16:9 video it always compresses it to a 4:3 ratio. HD content is fine though.
It's nice that PS3 only owners have Netflix now though.
yeah it is a little clunkier on the PS3 version, but that's to be expected since you have to use the disc and run it through BD-Live. I'm sure when they get XMB integration, it would run much smoother. I'm fine with both system menus though. Only thing I'd like to see is a search field to search by title.
I heard a few folks talk about the SD scaling. I hadn't had that issue, probably because I have my TV set to 16:9 on my HDMI port (and my receiver upscales to 1080P). u able to get it to 16:9?
mine shows up 16:9 though. weird. Is your TV set to automatically change the aspect ratio? If so, try forcing 16:9 on it. I don't have that issue, so I'm not 100% on how to fix it lol. I have a Samsung LCD and the HDMI port is set to 16:9. My receiver is a 1080P receiver and I have that automatically upscaling to that resolution, so that might be the deciding factor as well. Try forcing 16:9 on the TV and let me know if that helps.
So so far as I can tell both are pretty much the same. From boot to playback on both systems I clocked 1:46. From app boot to playback I clocked PS3 - 1:27, 360 - 1:06.
Joystiq had an interesting article saying that SD videos took longer to load on the PS3 maybe you could do a video comparing the SD playback on both systems.
I'll think about posting a video for SD playback, but from what I can tell, and after watching an SD movie on the PS3 and comparing it to another I had watched on the 360, They're pretty similar on that front as well, loading up much faster on both sides
So in order to get Netflix streaming disc, you have enter your e-mail on the site that's offering it? Because i did that like twice and they still haven't send me anything. Not even an e-mail to let me know weather i'm getting it or not : (
Do you have a netflix account? Because if you have to enter your email that's just so netflix can notify you when the service becomes available not to get the disc, you have to have an account to get the disc.
Blu-Ray is, I believe, $11.99 a month, which is the plan I have. Netflix is nice, though, seeing as turnaround from sending out a DVD and receiving the next available title on the list is between 1 and 2 days, and new releases are usually available as well, rarely put on a wait list
I might do a complete PS3 Netflix walkthrough in the future if anyone is interested. This will include how to add movies and whatnot to your list via the PS3 browser
added annotations to more clarify the sounds I was talking about if you want to compare yourselves. The disc drive spinning is relatively quiet. The louder sound you hear AFTER the annotation comes up was from me setting something on my desk
thanks! by the way, all the loud clicking sounds are from my receiver switching to different audio settings (it does that for some reason, but only when opening up a game or program, not during play)
I apologize for the crappy quality and the constant going-out-of-focus, its from a point and shoot camera with autofocus that I can't manually adjust :-/.
WOW! It blows my mind to think what our tax dollars are being spent on. I think this was a total waste of time.

Yeah, like I said, the HD stuff is fine, but I can't figure out why the SD 16:9 content is showing up as a compressed 4:3 ratio.
I tried playing the exact same video on both systems and it played the way that it should on my 360.
It's kind of bothering me.

maybe they got a bad connection to a server or something

Also, did another comparison between selecting the movie to play/continue and the actual load time, in which both came out to 0:35
