i'm sure it's hard to get chlorine gas, i'd love to try this at home though!

Chlorine is the easiest gas to get at home:

One way is to react bleach(sodium hypochlorite)and a strong acid such as HCl(=muriatic acid) or this video sulphuric acid.

The sodium is very hard to get, it is impossible to make yourself.
