  • Use to listen to this album while I made sand sculpters on the beaches of Seattle. So surreal. God I miss those days.

  • wow !!!

  • ......I think of BEN what I hear "shouldn't of done that" then it gets all creepy with the backwards voices and that random scream.......

...this is now BEN's new theme....

either than that.. I freakin' LOVE this song...

  • @CainVlad666

---FINALLY SOMEONE I CAN RELATE TOO! lol I thought was the only one who thought of that.

  • @CainVlad666 1:07 Always reminds me of the Beatles exsperimental music especialy the screams, Definatly an early influence.

  • You think Depeche Mode smoked weed?

  • Two very clever songs, Depeche Mode have always been one of my favourite bands and long may it continue to be that way. Thanks DM for some fantastic music over the past 30 years.

  • Does anybody know what the song 'Shouldn't Have Done That' is about?

  • @MrSxdan I guess it´s about parents who didn´t care about their children´s feelings and who wanna accessible.

And the end of the song shows how the child carry it on to other people.

Sorry, for my bad english, can´t explain it not so good. : /

  • @kleingeld6 *I meant wanna make them accessible.

  • @MrSxdan I've always thought is an ode to parenting and about misguided ambition.

  • Their Best Album Cover!

  • I have this album...I bought it back in 1984...I had to work backwards too get the few that I missed out on before Some Great Reward came out

  • ADORE IT!

  • Una de las mejores piezas del que debe ser el mejor álbum de Depeche Mode.

  • Broken frame is undoubtedly and clearly their most achieved work both lyrically and musically and the sun and the rainfall their most beautiful song ever. The melodies are brilliant.Soundwise though the next album and especially music for the masses are undeniably better.

  • Perfect upload. These two songs belong together.

  • I have to disagree with Martin Gore as well about this being one of their worst albums. I put this album along with songs of faith and devotion at the top of their album list and for very different reasons. A broken frame was the beginning of the darker side of DM and Songs of faith and devotion was the spiritual peak. On a side note.. my brother and i are huge DM fans and we noticed something at the same time.. the last song on DM albums seem to stand out from the others.. at least to us.

  • @seanyer

I noticed too that strange thing of the last songs!! So, it’s not my imagination..

  • Just amazing...

  • Can anyone tell me who this song is about please? I have googled it and can't find ANYTHING on it, I'd really appriciate it cheers

  • Maybe Martin wasn't too happy with his life at that time - I became a fan as soon as I heard 'New Life' which I think was 1981.

  • what can i say i have been a fan since NEW LIFE BACK 79/80. Seen them live all over the palce they still rock. IF EVER THERE WAS A SONG SO APT ABOUT LIFES AMBITIONS THIS IS ONE.

  • Ummm like Robert Smith said "their songs is too formalized". referring to DM and I have to agree at this point

  • You shoudln't have done that...

  • great audio quality - thanks for the upload. classic tunes.

  • I like both songs and...I always thought that the person with the hook was a kind of bird ._. hahah! But now that I watch more close to, I realize that it IS a person XP

  • no way , weren't worst lp of theirs ! so great with his stuff.. they went ahead with depth of sounds

  • @123xxrobertx Agree mate, if you want a poor DM album I think it has to be Exciter - only a smidgen of decent songs. Ultra IMO is a very underrated album. I struggle with the Playing The Angel album - I think that's a poor album too !!

  • @dunning1977 trip...I was actually up late trying to sleep when all the BF / CTA stuff started running through my head...and in that state I started to think that Ultra is very much like Broken Frame and that CTA is sorta like exciter...gotta admit that CTA had some sleepers on it but it also had some hits (like Exciter). so that being said PTA is SGR? and SOTU is Black Celebration?? I'm not sure about that theory but if the next album is the 'second cycle' Violator it should be interesting.

  • Love the sound quality, the intro is much more haunting, and is more into the instrumental, and doesn't stick out as much.

Plus, the reversed part... It sounds like someone (...Dave maybe?) telling a story about a... "Big bird" when you reverse it. Weird...

  • @biospark64 That's martin telling story: The big bird is pecking The little bird is pecking as well The big bird has got more worms than the little bird So the little bird doesnt like this Hes after the worms that are really owned by the big bird He flies over to the big birds worms Oh and what joy it was when he got those worms And he flew away He flew onto the top of the mountain . The big bird was too fat He couldnt fly.
  • @MissNotion Thank you very much for shedding some light on that! Didn't know it was Martin. Where did you find this information?

  • @biospark64 I found it on Depeche Mode Message Board

  • @biospark64

I found it on Depeche Mode Message Board.

  • WOW The sound quality is very good! The cover is one of the best covers ever

  • I thought I was the only one that loves this album cover. Lol. I read somewhere that Gore said it's one of their worst albums ever. I totally DISAGREE.

  • That albom has a unique atmosphere, maybe even naive. I love "The sun and the rainfall" the most.

  • I agree with you completely.

  • @VikaVodkaTo me, it's their best album.

  • @VikaVodka yea martin really dislikes this album he said it is one he is not really proud of however he does love the cover. but hence why martin never plays any song from it live except leave in silence at that was for just this tour and only acoustic.

  • @VikaVodka This wasn't a horrible album by any means - it was just missing one vital ingredient. He arrived a year later in the form of ALAN WILDER!

  • @VikaVodka I agree and stylistically it flows right into construction time again. I think songs of faith and devotion is a weak cover. everything else seems to have a similar feel or style.

  • @VikaVodka I disagree too! That album was a MASTERPIECE!

  • @Maulon69 Agreed also, such a raw and experimental album. Very good indeed.

  • @VikaVodka i disagree too . this was the start of their budding recognition

  • @VikaVodka I totally disagree as well! for over 25 years I have loved this album! one of the best!

  • Absolutely amazing! Love ABF! It's fantastic. And the album cover is the greatest, absolutely stunning! Thank you.
