  • I felt like the song was rushed & being a vocalist myself I think it could have been done with a lot more feeling. It is a beautiful song though if sung from the heart :)

  • i deserved tht part and my teacher told me if any solos come up in my class i coud do it and here comes my danceteacher lying so unfairrrrrrr

  • i shouldve gotten the lead in this danceclass but of course my danceteacher plays favorites and gives it to a firstyear but i have been going for 8 years not fair and i am way more experienced this girl who got the lead MICHELLE, is too bouncy she doesnt even know the moves and i can sing this song by heart and guess wht she said to me she wanted to know if her backups would be there how rude of her

  • my mom and sister cant stop singing this song, this song is really standing the test of time.

  • man i miss my childhood: no homework, no troubles, no nothing. just life, plain and simple through an innocent five year old's eyes...

  • one of my favorite disney movies. EVERRRRRR.

  • hey! shut up yous

  • This is probably one of the best disney movies. Not only it is based on a true story but it's lesson is probably one of the most important ones. Very beautiful song with a divine meaning.

  • @Lequin2582 very little is based on the 'true story". this movie is a prime example of american propaganda in an art form.

  • i might bring the movie in for social studies thank you.

  • movie is good but bullshit. no native girl would want a pasty looking diseased white who killed off 99% of the indian population. you will never know just how brutal and barbaric these whites were because they won't say it in the history book. you will only find a romanticized history.

  • @Isreal4realz you are so right. we whites wont admit our failers. I assume you are not white?

anyway, yeah we americans are an ignorant, selfish people. we hate to admit to what horrid things we have done over the centuries. we are the savages really, the indians were just doing their thing and then we came and destroyed them.

  • @Isreal4realz If anything is bullshit it's this comment. I'm both a Native girl and a "White" girl. Yes what the "whites" did to the Natives is bad but no one knows the WHOLE TRUE story except for the people who were actually there and even they would twist the story in their faovr, and it's all in the past there's not one damn thing you can do about it now. Quit looking for attention, all you wanna do is start something, just stop and get over what happened CENTURIES ago.

  • @morningstar9691 so where did all the indians go? did they just disappear? if you really are indian then YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED. you don't need to defend the whites as they already wrote the history books in their favor. when you celebrate Columbus Day, just remember that it was the day that marked the beginning of the genocide of the entire indian people/culture.

  • I miss movies like this. When they actually put heart into films :(

  • bravo

  • In real life, John Smith had no dick. For serious, it was blown off lol

  • Now by watching this, Pocahontas has the longest hair on earth. LOL

  • @EpicMythWizard247 repunzule has the longest hair ever

  • (0.o) who could dislike this???

  • y dont they show this on disney channel anymore?

  • Anyone come watch this because of RODP class American Literature 1? Big Disney fan, too! ha

  • being able to sinb under water is totally legit kids

  • If she was jewish he would have shot her.

  • Such a powerful song!!!

  • I remember dancing and singing to this in my room in 3rd grade, and wishing desperately that I was a Native American.

  • SHHHH.....JUST ENJOY THE MOVIE AND THE MESSAGE......hunting for trophies is wrong......treating the earth badly is wrong......be kinder to nature........take our creator into your heart and magic will happen.............you will end up a happier peaceful person ...just like the BA'KU in star trek insurrection.....NOW THEN ...next important message. JUST LOOK FOR THE BEAR NECCESITIES OLD MOTHER NATURES RECIPIES FORGET ABOUT YOUR WORRIES AND YOUR STRIFE. LOVE PEACE AND TOLERANCE

  • I've seen all the popular Disney Movies but I've never seen Pocahontas

  • @futbolonly Then you should watch it! What are you waiting for? I'm sure you'll love Pocahontas!

  • That is a beautiful song.

  • You know, I never cared much for this movie when I was a kid, but this song has always been my favorite from any of my childhood films.

  • This her saying in her nicest tone, "YOU RACIST BASTARD!"

  • Irene Bedard looks just like Pocahontas:)))))

  • Seriously, Stephen Schwarts makes the best lyrics in the musical word

  • Pocahontas has DSLs.

  • would have been nice if history were more like this

  • some one started singing this in a class and i harmonized with him after not hearing this for years! im so glad i remembered the lyrics XD

  • hehe! i made it snow! :D

  • 18 people will never hear the wolf cry to the blue corn moon

  • No wonder I liked this movie the most when I was little. It is so open-minded. And I was open-minded at such a young age.

  • wonderful song :X Disney rullz!

  • my childhood <3

  • June 16 1995 - the day Pocahontas was released and the day I was born. I have the best birthday ever.

  • her voice is beautiful, and so is the song.

    it gives me chills

    :')

  • i heard this the other day on the radio!

  • Blue CORN moon? That's what she's been saying all these years?

  • @kellyrox8910 i thought she was saying blue born moon.

  • @Dragonsbane11 I kept singing blue full moon. I knew that wasn't what she was saying, but it made the most sense.

  • the 2 one sucks

  • Thanks for posting, <3 love this song!

  • i use to love this movie i still do even though im 17

  • @pimphstrong1 old disney/childhood movies are something that you never quite grow out of! I'm 22 and have and watch all my disney movies... Pocahontas, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mulan, the Lion King...... ah hell, I even have Land Before Time.... the first one! They have so many, over kill doesn't cover it!

  • Lmfao, "As seen on: Genetics and Politics"

  • OH THE NOSTALGIA

  • 2:47 PRIDE ROCK?!

  • Dear Pocahontas, I use to love you, but then you decided to leave John Smith burning my childhood to ashes.... Thanks....

  • Alicia sent me here! :D lol

  • i luv this song

  • lol knowing what is right and wrong is a lot easier than making such actions. i wish i didn't fail at this. happy thanksgiving.

  • diiiiss when she hands him back the gun after singing the lyrics about the savage :P

  • He was 34 and she was 13. Nothing improper took place.

I'm a Virginian. I 'd like to see this fantasy land here depicted.

  • @pinz2022 I swear she looks like she's 20-something in the movies. But then again...it IS Disney.

  • @pinz2022 well, you can't see it! the white man took it and destroyed it! But hey, instead you have all those beautiful malls! Better than nature! :(

  • :] I'm going to try and sing this wonderful song.

  • Why can ALL disney characters sing!?

  • @ImmahEnglishPerson because why would they hire someone to sing horribly? It IS disney after all

  • okay i went to WHSmith and they dont sell colours of the wind colouring pencils or paintt ,, what a bummer

  • Yeah, people can just waltz in and pick up a bear cub in front of its mother. This is legit, kids

  • @Yarikh91 U 9gager?

  • @Yarikh91 nah they bribed the mother offscreen earlier

  • @Yarikh91 i think the idea is that the bear somehow knows she is respectful of them and that she poses no threat or whatever ,i see your point haha lol

  • @Yarikh91 but she's in touch with the spirits of animals and nature, that's why.

  • @NaturallyJade3 Tell that to the bear.

I understand what Disney wanted to convey by making this scene, but seriously.

It doesn't change the fact that getting near a mother with her cubs and letting falcons perch on your bare arms are among the stupidest things a person could do in the wilderness.

  • @Yarikh91 you could if you're a silver back guerrilla :)

  • @Yarikh91 ..In the 90s...You could. It was that badass.

  • @funnybear15 :I

  • @Yarikh91 Have a fucking dream douche. What is "legit" that Disney comes up with? I think someone is missing the point.

  • @LizzyAston And I think that someone is you. I never said I didn't like Disney. :I

  • @Yarikh91 throw themselves gracefully down a waterfull too, then

  • @Yarikh91 hey back then they could, not now lol

  • @Yarikh91 Yeah but I don't really think that's the message of the song. It's Disney, what do you expect?

  • @anneofavonlea11 I expect a portrayal of someone who is in harmony with nature to be respectful towards wildlife.

It would be even more meaningful to me rather than an unrealistic, cutesy scene.

  • @Yarikh91 Well there are stories about people who live so close to nature that indeed they can pick up a bear cub without triggering the mother's aggression. I guess the native Americans were able to do that, before Cortés came.

  • @QueenOfDreamsXxX Could you please cite me one such story?

  • @Yarikh91 Well I've seen this wolf guy on Animal planet a time ago, Shaun Ellis. He's lived with wolves and so, but I guess he's better portrayed on wikipedia, haha :). I don't know enough about American history to have an example of native Americans who did the same or something comparable, but it's not hard to imagine for me.

  • too bad native women are now gossip queens and such ... bitched. I am ashamed!

  • :) fav disney character.. love her and the song! If i ever auditon for some singing game show, this is my song! no steals lol. so awesome!

  • This song indeed made a lot of speciesism stop bluntly. Its power remains in its sweet, simple lyrics.

  • i will always love this song its just plain amazing

  • This song probably made alot of racism stop....

  • .....how would a bear know what a gun was....

  • I love how she gets straight to the point. And is pretty darn well to. No nonsense here!!!!!

  • i remember last year when i was a sophmore in painting when a senior did a painting of 1:29 and i was always wondering where that image came from

  • both native Americans and the English men are to blame for wars English men found them strange and never even tried to talk nor did the native Americans try to make peace ether

  • @TheWolfgirl1998 To be fair though, they were there first.

  • @TheWolfgirl1998 Yes they have tried . But after awhile , i wouldn't wanna make peace with the english either . They STOLE this land , it was never theirs to begin with .

  • i truly love this song because i love animals and thats what inspired me to become a vegitarian...thanks disney!!

  • @vampireknight260 So you do not seem to feel sorry for the animals that you eat their food? And did you know that humans are meant to eat meat and proteins?

And so should lions also become a vegetarian just because it has compassion for animals?? Wake up and get back to reality!

  • See, I always thought that the Earth was just a dead thing I could claim. Apparently not according to Pocahontas. :(

  • in reality: you jump off a cliff in a storm, you crash and die

    in Disney: you fly

  • In reality: Bird lands on your arm, you bleed:

    In Disney: you sing.

  • She looks so pretty when she rolls around in the sunflowers :)

  • 17 people would shoot the bear:/

  • Tears... every time... dangit...

  • I wish I could sing underwater. D:

  • Bear: " Rraa?" 1:01 LOL Derpfaise.

  • 17 people were MAULED BY BEARS.

  • why do people kill animals and cut down trees and build constrution sites for almost no reason. i wish we could go back in time and relive the beauty.

  • My school chorus is doing this song and now I'm listening to it because

    1) IT'S AN AWESOME SONG!!!

    2) Because I want to forget my music teachers terrible voice singing it!!!

  • This song has a great meaning! :)

  • 18+ people are ignorant savage...

  • @roar91 well i'm almost 18+ and i'm not ignorant!

  • @mellsko LMAO 18+ dislikes and more....

  • I really, really wish that the world could live in harmony like this. When she said, "The rainstorm and the river are my brothers. The heren and the otter are my friends, and we are all connected to each other - in a circle, in a hoop that never ends," it hit me. Why can't the world be like this anymore? Oh yeah, because it's all about money, government, tyranny, war, violence, and disrespect. People have lost sight.

  • @ILoveRedwall omg same i would love to live like this and escape mankind

  • @ILoveRedwall I know what you mean. I really wish I could go back and live like that. Look at how beautiful the world was back then now all I see is pollution and trees getting cut down. Why can't we live like they did?

  • It's sad that kids these days are missing out on lessons like this from fun, inspirational movies like this one.

  • Disney, could u make the move version of the 10 to 12 yrs old Pocahontas she actually was, where it was no romance involve between John Smith and herself. If one based upon the true story. For i have learned this thru National Geographic documentary of Jamestown.

  • I want to jump off a cliff and landed smoothly too :( 1:38

  • @cr3xall And with perfect her!

  • @cr3xall good luck. natural cliff thermals have all but vanished in the onslaught of newly developed subdivisions.

  • whether we are white or copper skinned, we just love disney songs....

  • @star7heart7star or colored skin, i think it says. I may be wrong, of course.

  • No one sings like this anymore.... :(

  • this has no lyrics

  • @shianneroses98 check description hurr durr

  • ik snap niet dat iemand dit niet leuk vindt!!

  • She is an ignorant savage because she used the wrong pronoun. Approx at 0:13

  • 1:23 I never realized it before, but the shape of the trees looks like a bobcat's head and the twinkling stars look like eyes and a mouth.

    HOLY CRAP.

The things you find after rewatching a childhood movie after so many years.

  • wohaaa goosbumps =*-*= ~meiow

    love it soo much

  • i am 19 and idc.....i still love disney. i grew up with it and i find that when i watch a disney movie now that im older like this one and my other fav Lion King 2 i understand a lot more and am able to appreciate some of the more deeper things in them that i missed when i was little. like this song, when i was little i kinda understood it but i never really gave the lyrics much thought until now. now i realize how beautiful this song is :) and the beauty in its meaning.

  • That time when animation was actually something you can learn from and even won an Oscar. I am so happy I grew up with these and not the animation we give our children.

  • 18 people got eaten by the mummy bear when they tried to hold the bear cub.

  • how do you paint with the colors of the wind when the wind can only be felt???

  • @abcdefg9421 i think it was meant to be figurative

  • Paganism!!!!!!!!!! Burn her!!!!!!!!!

  • I think this is the most beautiful Disney "song break" of all its movies. No other one is better than this.

  • @GameGuru151

    Beauty and the Beast!

  • the reason i love this movie is becasue is its about overcoming peoples differences and about saving the earth this movie show what can happen if we work together instead of working agiasnt eachother and it show what nature should look like. now if you want to see real nature in the usa you have to go to a national park

  • you think im an ignorant savage.and youve been so many places i guess it must be so.but still i cannot see if the savage one is me,how can there be so much that you dont know?you dont know. thumbs up if thats your favorite part

  • Thank you to Alan Menken and Howard Ashman for all these beautiful songs. I'm 15 and I think I'm the only person out of my grade who would rather watch Disney all day than watch Jackass or Hangover. These two composers are my inspiration to become a part of the Disney family. Imagineering to be exact:) I miss the old movies when they didn't have to be "politically correct" and actually had meaning to them. <3 RIP Howard Ashman

  • 18 ppl can't see the colors of the wind :(

  • I love it so much! :)

And I don't like the new Disney stuff like another cinderella story and so on.. just f***** shit..

  • Don't see why people make a big deal of an adult enjoying this movie or any disney movie, in fact. I'm 20 and still love disney stuff. I grew up with it. It's not like we can turn our backs on our childhood. I will be a big fan of the original Disney movies until the day I'm called away from this world

  • Man, I don't think there is a single Disney song that I can get through without crying.

  • i love this song

  • i love this movie and song, but in real life, it was actually pretty gross because Pocahontas was 12 when she married John Smith, who was 19...but i love the movie anywayy!

  • @greendaylover418

    where did you get that?

  • @tuber7319852 ummm, my 21 year old brother who goes to Harvard??? i'm not lying, bitch

  • @greendaylover418

oh dont be too harsh. i'm just asking

  • @tuber7319852 ok, sorry about that

  • @greendaylover418 Or she didn't actually marry John Smith. She married John Rolfe. Didn't you watch the sequel?

  • @624sami the sequel isnt historically correct. ask anyone. the sequel is shit

  • I love how Disney can just pretend everyone speeaks english and not even explain it.

  • I'm an Indian, or what we liked to be called, Native and if I ever tried to hold a mother's bear cub, I'd probably be on one of those "Missing Persons" posters, lol

  • I'm 14 and all my friends make fun of me for being like Pocahontas. :( I love all of nature and I love all animals and bugs and all my friends call me Poca. :( Is it so hard for people to see the beauty? Not just the bad?

  • @NnyxClepto STAY THE WAY YOU ARE CHILD ! I AM A 58 YEAR-OLD MAN AND I HAVE LOVED NATURE SINCE I WAS A VERY YOUNG BOY.......I COULD BARELY WALK WHEN I STARTED LIKING THE FEEL OF THE SOIL AND THE PLANTS AND ANIMALS IN MY LITTLE HANDS.......AS YOU GROW OLDER, THAT LOVE OF NATURE WILL TURN INTO SOMETHING LARGER, AND YOU WILL NOT ONLY BENEFIT PLANET EARTH, BUT ALL OF HUMANITY......Sierra Cuban, Miami, Florida

  • @sierracuban :') Thank you, sir.

  • @NnyxClepto ^^ care, im 16 and i like it too and i think pocahontas is very pretty hehehehe. and this song is very beautiful :D

  • @NnyxClepto i choose trees over buldings.. i rather look at green then ugly rock (i do like rocks).. i see animals with souls and dislike when animals die..
