This is actually more exciting than today's supercar racing. Makes it much more fun having different cars like it used to be in the Group C and Group A days. Plus I can't thing of anything more terrifying than going flat out in a Mini, looking in the mirror & seeing that monster GTHO up your ass...LOL

The only reason people love these cars is because they were the fastest accelerating four door car in the world for a small amount of time but not the quickest down the quarter mile. The last xu1's made were running 13.5 out of the factory against the falcons 14.7. Nuf said!
Beautiful drive on a top circuit 3 minutes each of 3 laps, well done. I did a 3:40 in my worked RX3 back in 74 no cars just me, a time trial. I love that circuit every time I do a in car camera lap. Been to 3 500's and 4 1000's. You did very well and you did Ford a compliment also.

perhaps you have forgotten that it was not always a falcon or a monaro/torana on the podium at the end of bathurst in that period some of the minis and cortinas were very fast at the time and thats what Nc racing is, racing against period racecars whether you like the models or not.
I love to watch any footage of old races at bathurst as they were the best! they make the V8 Supercars look very boring.the cars were standard factory made cars with all the usual faults but thats what made it so good!!!!and thats why cars are so much better today because of the feedback from bathurst and other races on brakes, suspension, engine reliability, etc, etc.Bring back the old buy a car out of the show room floor and paint a number on the door type racing!!!!!!!

Absolutely amazing watching this guy fly through the field of other competitors. Sadly, we can't have the volume up loud enough to truly enjoy the roar of the 351 Cleveland because of the added awful music. Never the less, a great race.

Couldn't agree more with you Wombat!. The sound of the V8 was sensational, and watching that shaker on thre gear changes, however we had to put up with that excrable music. This was the time of the XT/XY's, Torana XU-1's and the Charger E39's etc, when the car you bought on the Monday closely resembled the day before's Bathurst race car. Not like today where IMO its a big yawn; the car on the race track resembles the car you buy from the showroom in badge only. I dont even watch it these days.
Great vid nice driving. I love 70's- I have 4 Fords, GT Falcon, Cobra, GT Capri and Capri Perana. I have never liked the look of the XY model so have the XB model. Finance was not the problem - I purchaced mine in the 1980's all where cheap then but the XB was newer and nicer inside as an everyday car when I was 18, the Cobra was my cruiser. Pity lads who have to drive JAP imports to work these days. No amount of boost seems to give the street cred that the deep rumble that a Big engine makes.

Couldn't agree more with you Wombat!. The sound of the V8 was sensational, and watching that shaker on thre gear changes, however we had to put up with that excrable music. This was the time of the XT/XY's, Torana XU-1's and the Charger E39's etc, when the car you bought on the Monday closely resembled the day before's Bathurst race car. Not like today where IMO its a big yawn; the car on the race track resembles the car you buy from the showroom in badge only. I dont even watch it these days.

Great vid nice driving. I love 70's- I have 4 Fords, GT Falcon, Cobra, GT Capri and Capri Perana. I have never liked the look of the XY model so have the XB model. Finance was not the problem - I purchaced mine in the 1980's all where cheap then but the XB was newer and nicer inside as an everyday car when I was 18, the Cobra was my cruiser. Pity lads who have to drive JAP imports to work these days. No amount of boost seems to give the street cred that the deep rumble that a Big engine makes.

sweet, like the good old days at Bathurst, where there was a variety of cars and it was fun to watch, i loved the falcon and also the charger that was pulling some "hairy" passes on the outside three cars up @ 01:07
