i would probably just put the TV against the wall and have that couch against the counter that way you can get any stand for the TV and it wouldn't get damaged by a spillage also having the couch next to the counter would be convenient because then you or someone else can hand guests food or drinks to them while they're on the couch

I'm very late on this, but if you got that bookshelf/TV stand, would you be concerned about seeing all your cords behind it, since it's open? Are you going to get something to close it off on the back?
Kate, make sure the bottom of that shelf that you are looking to use as a TV stand is stained the same way, so when the bottom is facing to the side doesnt look weird.
Stain the tv stand you have now to match what ever you buy. just gotta give it a quick sand to get the coating if there is one on the current tv stand. then buy a stain that would darken the wood to match whatever you buy. No one said it all had to be perfect and what you want the day you move in. progress.

Kate, remember you can always modify your furniture. You can sand it down and restain, and like when my parents bought our new dining set, we picked the stain we wanted. It's just like buying a car, they bring out a sheet and you pick what you want and what you don't want. And if you can't do that, you can always trim it down or add a shelf, the possibilities are endless.
I like your final decision of the sideways bookshelf. And you can always get baskets that fit in the cubbies to hide little things like cords and whatnot too. Now breathe in, breathe out, find your happy place, play with kittehs...

The bookshelves sideways would work, however what I found with my first experience with a regular coffee table for a tv stand, is without a solid back, there is no where to hide cords, and it drives me insane to be able to see multiple cords showing through the openings.
You could also find someone who does woodwork, and have them cut an inch off of the legs of the potential tv stand. From the looks of it, it would be fine. And yes, go to home depot and change the gold pulls.

We have a little nesting-box in our back yard were a couple of Great Tits (stfu it's a real bird) lives. Today I saw a woodpecker sitting on the little stick infront of the hole to the nesting-box. He sat there for a while before he jumped through the hole and kidnapped a baby. They are bandits!

Kate, I just watched you shop for over 30 minutes and I never had the desire to wander off and look at TVs, or find the nearest auto parts store! I think finding someone to "put up with you" will be easier than you expect. BTW, if you take the same analytical approach to shopping for your motorbike that you do with your furniture, I definitely will tune in for it!!!
Kate, when you were talking about bills, you can cut out a gas bill completely I think, if you just get an electric stove and stuff, at least that's what I was told, since my girlfriend and I are moving in to a house soon, I mean it might just jack up the electric bill some but I rather have a slightly higher electric bill than an entire gas bill.
should start taking photos of everything (with dimensions), get a big blow up of your place then start shuffling them around to see how it all fits instead of trying to picture it

Kate, it really might be a better idea ti put the sofa by the open kitchen window thing. I only say that because if anything spills from the counter it would most definitely get on the TV some how, because it would drip over the edge.

so this is late but I'm proud of you for taking back the "retarded comment". That makes me think highly of you. Also late but I just have to say it. The table thing, I'm still catching up on the newer vlogs after this but the last table you showed for the tv it's very appropriate for putting media players and such unless you want to just pile them along side of the tv. You also, which I'm sure you've realized, can't put the tv across from the kitchen because then you'll have a nice glare.

I have no children of my own, but i've been in relationships where children were already present, and i got along with them great (mainly because they liked Legos and video games and so do i).
