Elton John....A music legend spanning four decades. He is by far the most talented singer in the industry. We thank you Elton for contributing your wonderful talent on stage for the masses to be enjoyed and admired.
In the 70s he was a towering talent. Grey Seal, Harmony, Sweet Painted Ladies, Saturday Nights Alright For Fightin' to Danny Bailey. Worldwide pop culture indulges obscenely in vapid hyperbole. "Lady Ga Ga is genius!" "Madonna is a visionary musician"
Elton mastered his instrument & used complex phrasing & powerful melodies. There've been others, but let's face it. The MTV goons have force fed a diet of vapid Black Eyed Pea groups on us, & most accept it. Elton's slipped, but this is art.
@redfishradical Elton was God until 1984 en ded. period. Sicne then he has been A SHELL. Either by narcotic, surgery, pain, unhappiness, or selling his soul
@mattpitvette " I am not happy about the rebirth of the Jesuits. Swarms of them will present themselves with more disguises ever taken by even a chief of the Bohemians - as printers, writers, school teachers, etc. If ever an association of people deserved eternal damnation, on this earth and in hell, it is this Society of Loyola (1816).
Perhaps EJ's greatest vocal performance -- and that's saying something. His voice here is at its youthful best -- pure, bell-like in its clarity. And the melody here is so beautiful, it's nearly overpowering. Never tire of hearing this gem.
This is a wonderful song. I play the record, yes I said record, until I wore it out. I still love this song. High school was great with Elton John, and songs like this. He still Wows the concert crowd now just like he did then.
Or Am I Just the Last Surviving Friend (that you know).....

At one time, a few of Elton John and Bernie Taupin's songs were as good as Lennon and McCartney's and this is one of them.

Say Hello, Hello, OH!
Beautiful song, love the falsetto vocals and the gorgeous string arrangements. POP MUSIC at its best.

pop music which isn't fluff...the anti-fluff... singing of the gritty pains of existence... quintessential 70s...whats not to love?

I absolutely love this song. One of Elton's (& Taupin's) best, ever. So melodic and lush. Certainly an underrated gem from GYBR.
