Having given away my Ka Bar Kukris which were excellent for throwing I was a bit concerned about the cold steel Kukris being any good for throwing. At least until I watched this vid. Cold steel makes these tip heavy so easier to throw with the handle. Personally I found the Kabar Kukris much more accurate when held by the blade and thrown. Hey if it saves half a second that works for me. No field test yet but I am already suspecting that COld Steel version is easier to throw.
Oh, and I was thrilled to see your vote of confidence for the Kukri (in the video where you made a wooden sheath). I have a nearly identical one that was a gift when I was 14 and otherwise don't have a primary solid survival knife. How did you sharpen it to make it most useful? I'm heading out for a minimal bush camping trip in a few weeks or so and would like to get it in working order before then. Peace. - Keith
Hey Grimbo, glad to have found your videos. I have been drawn more and more toward simple survivalism. I have little time to practice these skills as I live in the city and have two kids. In any case, it is refreshing to see the approach that one need not spend money on "advanced" gear. I don't have cash to spare and get by with what I have. Cheers from PA.
very cool! try taking a step back each time you throw to work on distance and when you get bored try throwing a wicked curve with a side throw ( it's harder to perfect but really fun)!
Good job Grimbo, It looked to me that it was getting just one revolution in before
sticking in the tree, to bad you have to check over your shoulder on every throw to see if someone is there...and worry if they will turn you in for something...
