some pricks comment - "haha mid 13s with a turbo WTF.... i run mid 13s with stock 99 mustang gt and 4.10 rear gears lol" YEAH WELL DONE DICKHEAD, SO YOU BOUGHT A STANDARD CAR AND DONE NOTHING TO IT?! WHAT A ACHIEVEMENT, AT LEAST THIS GUY HAS GONE OUT AND DONE SOMTHING, FOR A HONDA PRELUDE 2.2 TO KEEP UP WITH A 4.6 LITRE MUSCLE CAR IS PRETTY GOOD IN MY EYES! And the fact you cant get any more than 225bhp out of a 4.6 is pathetic. do us all a favour and keep your stupid comment to yourselfs
most of these comments are from people who dont truly know. Most h series motors blow because they have detonation because of a shitty street tune by a friend. A Properly sized turbo with a rich tune by a professional will save internals and make great power. Just like this car
@bigrappainhc i say you better go h22 engine... for building a turbo is not that easy... with a low turbo you can get 100HP extra... full build over 250HP ;P but when you do that, you better have a very good Prelude with low miles ;)
lol its funny to read all you idiots talk about this video. I would have never imagined 24,000 views and 40 retarded comments.
to set the record. the car ran mid to low 13's on the track with 11psi boost. it would have been faster but the fucking car cant hold traction worth a shit. the garrett turbos are ON/OFF switches
i sold off the car part by part. B4 all of that the engine had a perfect leak down and compression test. Goes to show that you dont know shit until YOU actually do it, not someone else.
@5spd5thgen 14s with intake and exhaust only for a prelude??? I doubt it bro. I had a 98 honda Prelude, with cat delete, N1 Apex'i 4" exhaust, AEM cold air intake, v-tec controler, spark plugs, DC Sport headers and a 55 shot of NOS ZEX wet kit. and ran mid 14's with slicks!!! noooo way your lude is that quick with just that.
@merlinmago07 ahh and that was in Denver, CO. Location it's important... sea level is about 0.5-1.0 secs less deppending on that driver tho. My best time with slicks was 14.103 if I run the car with my 18's with 35's my best time was 15.2.

prefferably a stage 2 turbo, performance headers, intercooler, a manifold that can handle the turbo, maybe some cams, and suspension parts...like performance shocks, and the works.
-Hey bro, its Nude_Lude from preludepower...I still cant believe you are selling this sweet ride. But i feel ya on wanting something different and more useful. Damn I wish I had the cash haha
I love this video! I cant decide if I want to do a mild built N/A motor or just a basic turbo setup on stock internals like you. The problem being there is no one around where I live that is capable of tuning on a boosted H22
to be quite honest. there is a lot of tuning involved with NA builds like cam timing and all that shit. turbo builds allow you more tuning capabilities. one day you could tune it and make 300whp and then go back again with more time on the dyno you could get 350whp the next time. its beautiful
I hear ya bud, people also assume that NA builds are much more reliable. Without tuning they really aren't as though the engine may not be under as much direct stress, the tolerances become MUCH more fine and if something steps out of balance you've got another paperweight of an H22 :) .. I'm building up a home-made supercharger kit on my H just now, looking forward to seeing if it'll last more than 14 miles with the unopened engine :p
who told you that? the sleeves are strong... its the rods and pistons that will go first... and its all in the tune... stock bottom end h22a will run on 14 psi if the tuner knows what their doing;
Check your messages. I didn't include it in the message but the sleeves are super weak under certain condition such as overheating even just one slight notch over normal but that can be taken care of easily via low temp thermostat / hi-flow radiator and changing out your oil often using at least semi-synthetic. Rods we really have a slight problem with, but more often it's the FRM sleeves because of serious heat transfer issues with retention and particle expansion. Small bay, huge engine.
agreed. The FRM sleeves are strong. However the stock pistons are weak, and in order to run forged pistons in an h22 you have to have the block sleeved.
do u got experience of that urself or just talking BS?. Ive been running 14PSI stock with fuelsys upgrade for 6 months without a problem. now its in for a build.
yah i have 5th gen, all motor build JE pistons using the soft hone process. I love the h22 but the 4th gen h22vtec is much better. 5th gen has the fiber reinforced metal sleeves that love to crack. But once you resleeve it's supposedly bullet proof. just depends if you so a good job resleeving or not. Check honda-tech, prelude online, prelude power, or super honda man. you'll see.
wtf u talkin about yea u gotta sleeve the pistons but the h22 is one of the longest lasting engines all u gotta do is yea build the motor up andshit but if u drop the turbo in just run low psi - get best of both worlds while maintaining tht turbo - shit bb6 rules
