hey this video plus part 2 are great this was just what i was looking for to get some information for my uni presentation on lillian Schwartz nice upload :)
Absolutely fascinating and groundbreaking work. It is always great to see true visionaries who realize that a technology designed for specific applications can be utilized for other, non-technical applications, never imagined by its creators. I wonder what Lillian Schwartz is doing these days? I guess retired.
I have taken the liberty of posting my own video, not claiming that it is in any way on a par with this (obviously) groundbreaking work, but as a statement of the direction that I am heading in, that is using digital imaging of analog "events" or "devices" to create interesting visuals and then combining them with music generated in the latest software programs (in this case, GarageBand), and then using the internet to present them to the audience. Thank you. I hope you enjoy this simple work.
Since the nature of their collaboration is not clear, the actual computer animation that Lillian edits swatches of into her films was created by software written by Ken Knowlton at Bell Labs.
