what is not cool about doing all the move's you can do on a shortboard on a longboard? i dont understand why surfing these days has to be put in categories. i personally prefere riding longboards because i can do almost has much as i can do on a shortboard, turns etc but i get the extra paddle power.

Definitely the most inspiring of all the surf videos I've been watching.  You can feel the soul in his surfing. Well I guess the music doesn't hurt either. Can somebody tell me the board he is surfing or at least the style of longboard. I'm just getting into it and this thing looks versatile.

Also no i dont agree with this being too short board influenced ... You see, people draw to much influence from the past in what they do, so become stuck in their ways.

They also attach too much riged lifestyle values to the sports they do, so when i short board, long board, body board, wake board and wake surf, snow board and skate, i mix moves from all those sports into my classic approach ...Just for fun!! I dont think i'm cool just cuz i stick to one sport or one style ... Mix it up

I'm not too much into performance/agressive longboarding but i do appreciate the fact that this guy is smooth with his cutbacks, has good footwork and isn't jerky with his hands flying all over the place. I'm more of a traditional longboarder. In southern California (i'm in San Diego) we are mostly about big log noseriders made from your local shaper. We keep it old school. The only people that are "ripping" it up out there are short boarders, We believe in glide, smoothness and getting 10.

completely agree kingbarry. he may as well cut the first three feet off the nose of his board. i'd rather watch jai lee or somebody who actually uses the nose. i'm not saying he's bad - he is an AWESOME surfer - i just prefer watching real longboarding. longboarding and aggressive moves such as reverses just don't go together... it defeats the whole purpose of the longboarding 'glide'.

Ya I am a progressive longboarder and I totally get what you mean, and I do agree. I have plenty of respect for shortboarders but it is definately a little bit harder to surf a longboard in that style. The reason we do that is because some people want to have the turns and the same pace as shortboarding but they like to challenge themselves and perform those shortboard maneuvers on a longboard.
