  • Wow I wouldn't mind learning my other culture I mean I'm have indian on. My grandma side but I'm half african american and half indian I want to learn this (: :)

  • But she's white...

  • @onthestcroix ....the are many light skin indians.. . -_____- just like there are white african americans.

  • teach me that!

  • She started out with decent aramandi and then lost it after ten seconds. The aramandi after was bad

  • ive never seen dancing as an art untill i watched this. i love it!

  • ohhi love this. so neat!!

  • she is really good

  • Her name is chitra sundaram and she is definitely indian just happens to be a fair Indian in terms of skin colour. If you like this then see Malvika Sarrukai too.

  • OMG! This dancer is so graceful and elegant! I absolutely love the choreo and I wanna be just like her!! ;)

  • @dinkipooxa I do not think she is Indian, but that is of no consequence as today there are many western dancers who are excellent exponents of Indian dance. This dancer is a bit wishy washy with her hand movements and should be dancing with her legs bent more deeply which is the tradition of this style known as Bharatha Natyam. The pure dance movements are very symmetrical and what is danced on the right side is usually repeated on the left side.

  • @rannajim i know the dancer and she is native indian ;-)

  • @mofunkluv4u hi, i was wondering, would it be ok for an american to learn this dance? im just a 15 year old girl, and i've been doing some belly dancing for some years now. but, as i got good at dancing, other cultures and dance appealed to me. i love the tradition and art of all these dances, and want to learn more about them, and dance them all out! but, is it ok if i do? and i want to learn more about it than just being ignorant. can you tell me about this kind of dancing? :)

  • @rannajim Give her a break...everyone can't do everything right all the time..maybe she is new in learning.

  • @hnubntsavaj Yes, you are right. She must be new in learning. So I will give her a break........

  • very nice dance & da choreography was excellent

  • owesum. they dance from their toenails to their crown

  • I really like the rhythms, but the choreography is not all that good. The dancer lost a lot of the dynamic lines of the dance by hardly bending her legs. She really needs to study the concept of aramandi.

  • teach our kids their history..so when they stand next to children from the rest of the world they know and are proud of where they come from....india history is like burning jewel waiting to be cleaned from oppresion left by british rule!!!! indian kids learn your history the ppl that walked your land and their stories.

  • absolutely graceful - beautiful :)))

  • It is really disappointing to me so read negative comments from people who can not appreciate the cultural traditions of other peoples of the world. I myself am not indian but I am love with everything indian. It is not just indian culture that i'm interested but many others. I would be nice if viewers would vist these channels, appreciate the beauty of culture or move on if its not your cup of tea. Please respect the cultures of others.

  • thank you! i really do agree with you.

  • @driedpizza That is very true. People need to appreciate different cultures. In my opinion I think all cultures are great, not just my Indian culture.

  • Es hermosooo.. realmente precioso!!!...

    Beatiful !!!!!!!!

  • Very nice!Good Performance.I suggest you upload the same in 'Dynamycdesi'.It is a online talent contest site for people.

  • Hey, theedwardian, Bharatnatyam requires a lot of strength and stamina. It also requires a lot of grace as well. I have learned Bharatnatyam for more than 15 years, I know that this dancer does NOT dance like robot. Her movements are very graceful and flawless. So please do your research before you make negative comments.

  • I love the way dance crosses borders--maybe you see a little robot or a little hip-hop, and it's all good. By the way, have you seen the traditional Indian dance with bagpipes? Wild!

  • in answer to theedwardian, there is not much grace it is true in this dancer, by the way, she is not indian, moreover how can you say that "indians" dance like robots I am french and I think you are very unfair, maybe a racist?

  • Actually i can understand why think that but in bharatanatyam the movements are very symmetrical which gives it the robotic look.

  • well, if you don't like it, don't look at it. it's that simple.

  • O my goodness!!! Pooja this is Awesome!

  • this is really excellent. Is there any more footage?

  • no :-( i'm sorry ... my battery ran out... though i am happy that i captured at least this much of that splendid dance :D

  • Excellent!

  • Me too :)

  • Wow, how beautiful! I love Bharat* dancing!!
