chrysler engine LMAO i would take a lean burner 318 over the ford 302 and the chevy 305 any day of the week and shows how much people really know most chrysler engines are made in canda or mexico so dont blame america
Chrysler engines are hit or miss. But the 2.7L v6 is the biggest POS chrysler ever put out. It's an embarrassment no doubt about it, they are a nightmare to work on and they were poorly designed, sludge kills them. My intrepid had all kind of issues and drove it till it died 98K miles, when it did I left it on the side of the road and took a bus home. My stratus with the 2.4L 4 banger still goes strong 160K miles, simple little engine. My Buick with the 3.8 still going strong with 310K miles.
We have a 09 Sebring and its a piece of shit car!!! Front edge of bonnet is rusted out all ready. Factory brake pads are rotten and falling off with still 3/4 wear on them.
Iv'e put over 200k miles on 2 Rangers (93, 99) and a 97 F150. Only thing I replaced was wiper blades, a starter and 2 alternators combined. Meanwhile my buddies' Tundra blew a trans and a rearend at only 53k miles... his wife's 00 Civic still has a stalling issue Honda can't figure out. You anti-American guys are funny I can picture you pounding the letters on your keyboards with your fists lmao.
Its not an American problem, its a Chrysler problem. GMs are good, 3800s and 3100s and 3.1 and 2.2s, and 350s, ect. all are bullet proof motors, along with FOrd 300 inline 6s and GM 4.3l v6s. Chrysler is at fault, not America.
I have a 97 honda civic with 260,000 miles on it. Still runs fine. Before that I had a 93 Toyota Corolla with almost 300,000 miles and still ran fine until someone smashed into me and totaled it.
I know someone with a 2007 Ford Focus, only 20k on it. The whole car shakes when you start it, it misses, it's pulling to the left already had to replace 2 motor mounts. Complete shit. I have so many stories why American cars are shit, but not enough character limit.
@adb140275 The 2.7 isn't junk. I have over 300,000 kms on mine and still running strong! Chrysler's 2.7 is all Chrysler. They replaced the 2.5L v6 mitsubishi
@adb140275 American cars are not junk. But the 2.7 is a bad motor, especially the earlier designed ones. The 2.7 is not Mitsubishi. It's 100% American designed and they bragged about this fact when they made it. A lot of American motors are great. The 2.7 is definitely not a good motor. If you maintain them extremely well they may last,,but even then ,, not always.
@adb140275 No, it's not. The 2.7 block is based on the 3.2 SOHC block which is a derivative of the 3.5 which is a derivative of the 3.3 OHV, which replaced the mitsubishi 3.0 in chrysler's. It's 100% american but the head's were of HORRIBLE design and they sludged up early. It was a junk engine, but American car's are not all junk.
you should know these days that those engines have major problems. everybody should avoid them and run synthetic oil as soon as they get them as they have sludge problems. the 2.4's and 3.0's i've seen get past 200,000miles
@1997FordProbeGT saw the pic of chevy if frame good u could drop in a small block v8 my aunt had a plymouth reliant it had mitzu parts ran great until she overheated it
@1997FordProbeGT misspeling vitriolic sardonisim heres just ONE exHAMple of mitzu,s in dodge, plymoth,CRYINGsler vehicles 3.0 v6 block was in voiager ,caravan ,shadow ,spirit,sundace,stealth,gt3000,top end eclipse only diference was electrical components that were put on when they were assembled here there good motors just dont overheat them or severly abuse them o and i uased to work at a dodge dealer motors made by mitzu ...2.6,2.8,3.0,3.9 were the motors made for america single overhead cam
Good ole Chrysler, and to anyone who thinks the 2.7L Engine in these vehicles is a Mitsubishi, YOU ARE WRONG. The 2.7L was designed by Chrysler Corp. and is manufactured by Chrysler in Kenosha Wisconsin and Trenton Michigan.
There have been some false rumors started by and confusion because the 2.5L "is" a Mitsubishi motor. As for fixing, with these engines, once the noise hits internal parts they are already scorn from lack of lubrication not worth fixing IMO!!
@1997FordProbeGT its a mitzu engine mitzu has made all small car engines for dodge and cryslur and plymouth ply reliant, neon ,shadow, caravan look on the engine mitzu motor the only good motors were the single overhead for neon and v6 for shadow and caravans but if you over heat them once everything warps, crap!chrysler hasnt made an engine for there cars since 81
@aheadbusa if it has the 2.7 lack of lubrication mess up the lifters. if you spend about 200 dollars on engine parts it will run like new. remember to get the new water pump and oil pump. new timing chains and stuff. use sentethic oil only.
Omni and Horizon from the 80's were POS. Cheaply built and fall apart.
I keep wondering if the 2.7 doesn't have enough crankcase ventilation leading to sludge and clogged oil passages. Maybe the thing to do would be to run Marvel Mystery Oil or Rislone Engine Treatment 1quart and change oil and filter at no more than 3000 miles. Either that or 5 Minute Motor Flush prior to every oil change.
While I am a big fan of imports (not the ricey ones) there are still very good American automobiles, Chrysler being an exception. The 2.7 engine, which I'm assuming is installed on this Sebring is the worst engine ever made period.
Having owned 2 Ford automobiles in the past they were very good to us. Redo your description to Chrysler sucks.
Oh don't take my word for it. Just go check the reliability ratings on MSN Autos or JD Power and Associates. Hmmmmm, what company didn't require a bailout?
3.8 million Toyotas recalled for what? the floor mats.. think before you type jack ass. The Jap companies dont ignore problems like the americans do. GM intake manifold gasket problem for example
Ok smart guy, what was the real problem. I guess its just a big conspierency when it comes to recalls on American cars and Jap cars. American cars have recalls for big serious issues but when its a Jap car they cover it up and make it seem like something small
@silverspec As far as teh Toyota recall. Old news, but the likely due to the software logic controlling the e-throttle. For whatever reason, the throttle would be commanded to open fully regardless of the sensed gas pedal position. Toyota has had software issues in the past, so this isnt new. I dont know why they just didnt bring them in for a reflash in the first place. Maybe thats what the "floor mat recall" was for.
@silverspec The problem was in the ECUs computer coding. I only had to check in about 5000 of these so far and they keep on coming in. A few models were affected, not just the Prius.
@th3ha1og0d Cuntrag, they just announced that it was all bullshit and was unfounded.
Back to reality, that Chrysler is the biggest fucking waste of scrap metal ever to roll down the streets on United States territory. What a fucking waste of oil burning steel.
I don't care how much you jerk off over it, it's a hunk of shit and will never be as well constructed or reliable as Japanese automobiles.
you mean they announced that they could find no problem in toyota's ETC...
The deferment of the recalls for the sticking pedals was in fact a crime. Toyota knew about the problem and kept it hidden for some time.
But yeah man your totally right jap autos are so much better i just sold my 300c pos and bought a yaris....man this yaris is straight up luxury. Love the fit & finish of it.
@silverspec Toyota was charged a large fine for "hiding" and "covering up" what they knew was the problem, which was NOT the floor mat on all the cars. DER, a little research goes a long way.
@th3ha1og0d Nissan are awesome, I have curently a 1990 Nissan Stanza eith 385''000 or so KM and still rockin hard! Never had to drop a penny in that car, (oil change etc but)
