It really makes it difficult for people to have quality debates and discussions, especially in the presence of so many impassioned viewpoints, unwritten online etiquette rules, and the screamers and name callers, etc. I always sort of hope that Youtube make some sort of redirect for each video to an actual forum. If they are G-ds laws, though, and IF they apply to everyone, its easier to see merit in Islam.

next day they stole the camels, killed the shepherd and ran away. muhammad had them brought back to medina and had their hands and feet cut off as punishment. he also let them die on the hot desert sand with thirst. so much for the kindness of muhammad.

@zulfitareen You are right, that is the account of what happened. And that is the punishment for robbery in Islam. The higher the crime, the more the negative effects on society and the higher the punishment. Adultery e.g. has devastating effects on society and has the highest punishment. Muhammad was the messenger of rules which when followed cause a perfectly safe and healthy society. Compare the incidence of venereal disease in US vs Muslim countries if you'd like to verify e.g.

Instead, Gabriel should have asked, "repeat after me, muhammad, as he was not carrying any paper to read from. Allah knew that Muhammad was illetrate. Why then he sent Gabriel with wrong instructions

And a challenge to you "zulfitareen". God asks this whole world to produce a book like quran, and challeges all mankind and jinn to that the quran will never become corrupt like the previous books. And as we see, the quran is still in it's original form and contains everything word for word as it was revealed 1400 years ago. There are no different virsions of quran like other relegions and all qurans have the same script and easy to memorize, even for people like myself who dont speak arabic.

@submitting2Allah - there is no different versions of the Guru Granth Sahib Ji. There are books by a different Guru but..... The Guru Granth Sahib Ji is the only one to be read and worked with as per our last great Gurus words

but he was able to hear the story of wall of iron and copper in syria and copied it later in koran.
if allah knew that muhammad was illetrate, they why gabriel asked "iqra", which means read.
gabriel sould have asked muhammad "repeat after me, muhammad", but not iqra.
that shows that the story of the encounter was concocted by muhammad or his followers later.

and what did muhammad pbuh said when Gabriel said "Read"? You should really go and study the quran with it's real meaning before posting it with wrong details. and learn that Muhammad pbuh did not write the quran. he would just say it to everyone after revelation so they would memorize it and write it on the sheep skin later. And it became a book so many years later.

Why does allah also ask moses "what is that in your hand O Moses" If he knows better than anyone what it is. and after moses explains what it is. Allah explains that Moses can take the stick to Pharao and show miracles to him. God knows the answer for eveything. When Gabriel says to Muhammad pbuh to read, he repeats that he doesnt know how to read. That's how we know that Muhammad pbuh was illiterate. This is an example for us, not a mistake by god. He verily knows everything.

allah did not ask moses any question.
if you read torah, you will find out that he and joshua committed genocide of innocent pagans of judea, samaria, and canaan in the name of their man made god yahweh.
they wemt town to town and killed every man, woman and male child. they even killed domestic animals. they left virgins alive so the soldiers can have sex with them.
it is written all over the pages of torah. it is not a secret.
i would rather call both of them butchers of palestine.

@zulfitareen you debate trivialities. what is more important e.g. are facts like the one that in the 20th century men have discovered that water is the basis of life while 2 verses in the Quran clearly state: "It is He who created man from water..." 25:54 and "...We have made from water every living thing..." 21:30. Pretty accurate I must say, wouldn't you? Only the Creator knows His creation.

@zulfitareen may i try to clarify you sir, while the story behind revelation may give us certain meaning or perspective about the revelation, the actual content of the revelation itself is quite independent from it, as the revelation is for all mankind, not to prophet muhammad only.

@zulfitareen From the example you give, the revelation is about order to us to seek knowledge, read and study things (hence, the word "read")
But God also say while man is a creature of wonders, blessed by god the ability to read and write and to understand things, often man trangress, denied and reject god. So will they will be punished accordingly
So, i think thats about it, nothing to do with prophet muhammad literacy. But the story behind does show he is illiterate hope that helps =)
