He was putting all his resources into getting more zerglings in order to break the blockade ASAP before boxer could tech. He had to use what drones he had to mine minerals to get many zerglings, fast. Unfortunately for him his plan backfired and the blockade survived.

totally agree with u, Ever must be thinking to mass lings with speed upgrades asap to break the blockade, the proxy factory meant that boxer wld get siege tanks very fast so Ever was desperate. To the layman or uninitaited, u won't really get the strats. Do watch it again, it's very intense.

I don't really get aQua in this game. I know that if he had been able to break through Boxer's blockade with his lings it would have been tougher for Boxer, but I can't believe that aQua never bothered to tech further than lings.

Scanning through a second time I notice that aQua built an extractor but seems like he never sent drones to harvest from it. What zerg has a chance without gas??

The turning point (mass ling vs bunkers) was very close though. With just few zerglings more (or maybe perfect management for the situation) he probably would have done it. Very well played of course by boxer, but for the exact 7:00 fight I wouldn't talk about crazy management though.

Boxer makes it looks simple but its very hard to do it so perfectly, first of all he knows aQua has 2 bases, yet Boxer still choses to go for the block instead of expanding himself, and he makes 2 bunkers then chokes the remaining space with factory + supply (see at 6:34 how perfect it is with machine shop choke), also needs to not let aQua make a sunken too close, and then the tanks come just in time to stop the lings from breaking through.

just to comment on this match, very glad to see Boxer still has wat it takes to challenge 'younger' Zergs. His TvZ is legendary.

i have no idea y Ever chose min-only expo instead of the nearer natural expo below his cliff... he had no gas to even make a Lair for better units... lings couldn't match Boxer's fast block & tech... Boxer may not be a macro player but if u play into his trap of fast cheese, rush, micro battles... its GG for u ^ ^
