  • guitarist looks like alex lifeson when young

  • feels good to me (bill brufford)

  • This is a masterpiece. Morgan Ågren and Mats Öberg.

  • This is such a MINDFUCK!! It doesn't make sense!!

  • Varför utgår "alla" (många) från att musiken skapas av droger?

Droger och människor är två skilda företeelser. Droger är gifter.

Människor kan gifta sig.....eller förgifta sig.

  • !!!WOW!

  • 4:17 raped my soul

  • this is a love song to me!!!

no wonder they run off :\

  • 1:05 and on is WIN

  • this is what anti matter sounds like

  • Can you believe Mats, the main keyboardist, is blind?? He is God made keyboardist.

  • @Deadwing1107

If you're a good musician, you don't need your eyes, dude. You don't need to look at your instruments because you know where every note is, you know where to place your hands to get the right notes at all times.

  • @RasendeTiur But you have to learn blind, too. That's the hard part. It's hard enough to get as good as him anyway.

  • 4:36 in its context is such a wonderful climax (there are many!)

  • 1:05 oh, i'm in love!

  • 5:51 and onwards, perfection !

  • One of the best jazz fusion groups on earth. All are great musicians. Everything they do-Zappa would be huge fan.

  • @JeffreyMulac8

Mats and Morgen were both in Zappa's band back in the day and he is a huge fan. They've performed together.

  • love the passage at 6:54

  • 5 Justin Bieber fans, Mats Morgan INSANE GENIOUS

  • When he's excited, his shirt rises! Great music :)

  • EMERSON LAKE & PALMER!

  • podziały rytmiczne mnie zabiły. masakra.

  • insane.....but BRILLIANT

  • the bassist is really good. hes playing some fun stuff.

  • This song is a dedication to Lars Hollmer (samla mammas manna) who plays music just like this. Look it up it's good stuff!

  • Anyone hear homage to "Future Days" by Can in that? The 10/8 section if you're counting...

  • The bassist must be of some relation to Fredrik Thordendal.

  • @kolektiv7 Tommy Tordsson

  • Let your fingers do the walkin'.

  • Jack Black on bass and Sammy Hagar on drums (they wish they could play like these guys).

  • Oh my god i cant waiiiit

  • Hearing the section at 5:50 always puts a smile on my face!

  • Super Mario on bass

  • Best song ever

  • they don't have this on itunes, what should I be looking for if I'm after some Morgan Agren music like this?

  • wow... just stunning!

  • 5:55 coolest keyboard part in the song!

  • @jonithedrummer the short haired one (mats oberg) is blind. the other one is just kinda wierd looking.

  • @jonithedrummer wanker.... he is blind

  • @Semafostoles lol

  • @jonithedrummer he is really blind...

  • @kyjah73 i know but still funny looking

  • these guys are so good at music that they just play around with it

  • Really really really awesome!!! I am off to make a prog band now :D

  • Neil from The Young Ones is a hell of a keyboardist

  • Is this live? It doesnt look like they are playing their instruments and it sounds like the studio version

  • @AlabamaManWhore the audio tracking is off.

  • wtf @ 6:50 lol

  • @Ocelot911 WTF? the keyboard player has tits!?

  • @ZupraVisor it was out of nowhere

  • that last minute is killer

  • The groove in 10/8 that starts at around 00:31 is just killer! Actually, the whole thing is, but that section is especially brilliant.

  • @Flemmingdoerken 10/8 is 5/4

  • @JensClaesson Mathematically, yes. Musically, no :)

  • @Flemmingdoerken Why would anyone count in eight-notes?...

  • @JensClaesson By that logic I could ask you why anyone would count in quarter notes instead of 2nd notes: Because it's not the same thing. If 8/8 is the same as 4/4, then it's also the same thing as 2/2 and even 1/1, but you don't count or play it like that. How would you play something in a crazy time signature like 15/16 or 29/32 if you're only counting quarter notes?

  • @JensClaesson

Not sure if this is rhetorical, honest or just facetious but...

The metrical division and subdivision of the pulse of a song is really what determines whether you're going to compose it as 6/8 compared to 3/4, or 4/4 compared to 2/2. 10/8 as compared to 5/4 would have a different feel to it.

  • @ohthedaysofyore if you count it out...10/8 fits the meter better than 5/4

  • @jjoyner000

For you, maybe. But not everyone, obviously, which leaves the actual metric division a bit moot until you can get a hold of Mats/Morgan and ask them yourself.

Personally 10/8 makes more sense to me... but I was just mostly pointing out the fact that 10/8 and 5/4 would feel different. You could write this in 5/4 but... the only way to know, again, is to ask Mats/Morgan yourself.

    The wonders of musical subjectivity.

  • @Flemmingdoerken

And it's even cooler when they go back to the theme they started with. This happens at 6:54.

    Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Funkengrooven I agree, it's a great buildup throughout the whole song! Morgan Ågren is wonderful.

  • @Flemmingdoerken Truly incredible!

  • To me these guys simply define "ahead of the curve". Just seems to me that scandinavians are always pushing it a step further... Just take bands like Meshuggah for example (or even The Cardigans hahahah)

    Excellent and inspiring! Thank you

Mr Zappa would have been so proud!

  • yeah! and now people make some covers xD

  • it i$ near to minimal mu$ic but $o fuckin jazzy!!!

  • @L8SEMPRE I hate you.

  • So music hasn't stopped progressing past the nineties... Love it!!! By the way, I am hearing things, or is the melody from their other tune Baader Puff creeping in from 2:47 - 3:00??

  • It feels like your mind is drawn into the music until you are in another dimension...

  • @daiwa12 He is blind, you cocksucker.

  • Comment removed

  • The thing thats kindof misleading about this music is that to play this stuff you are nowhere close to drugs. These gentlemen dedicate their lives to their craft and it's not for people who like their music spoonfed to them either. Look at Zappa for instance, while he was in europe these guys jammed with him. Zappa dont give just anyone that kind of credit. Not for everyone but damn I love it!!

  • this is the most amazing shit ever

  • I admire every single composition from this band, I love it! The drummer is a fucking beast from another hell.

Unfortunally all the stuff uploaded is just out of sync. Please *reupload* if you can!

  • ..simple, you just don't understand.

    Goodbye

  • Sounds like a bias. Come on man, it's not just about playing well and stuff. While I'm not blame and refuse music from people that produce 'songs' without even being able to play, there are common factors that bright music "difficult" to listen, not least what sense it intended to stimulate (not just the stomach, in this case)

There's no only one way to write 'right songs, it depend by many factors.

This music is able to comunicate to me ideas, feelings, impressions. Fair enough.

  • Well i mean i listen to a wide range of music so it's not like i dont like it because it's too difficult. But i like songs that can give me the shivers or make me think "wow this is amazing." To me this song sounds like a bunch of musicians playing whaever they want the same tempo. The parts dont seem to blend well at all and really isnt that enjoyable for me to listen to

  • There are so many persons who aren't understanding this music. It might be because you are 2 young or don't have enough music in you to understand it. Well I tell you what I tell the others who calls this music "a bunch of musicians playing whaever they want the same tempo". I say to you:

Oooh my god. You really have no Idea. They are genius and you're a loser.

  • Well, your nickname tells me all I need to know, so all I'm going to say is that I find it very catchy and thoroughly enjoyable. Return to the gloomy pit from whence you came and never return!

  • ehh i got this profile when i was 12 and never bothered to get a new one...so yea i'll admit it's dumb

  • Hehe. Yeah thats because you don't have enough music ear to hear the complex melody :) But honestly I dont care if people are finding this good or not. Cause you people dont know a SHIT. (people like cobaine92).

  • you seem to think its all about melody when its not.

  • Comment removed

  • you are a faggot.

  • @adambell666

    well said

im sure you win a ton of arguments

  • okay, kurt.

  • @cobaine92

Agreed, complexity does not make a good song, I think this is a good song: It also happens to be complex. This is not all that freeform, to me I don't hear that much improvisation: I'm not that familiar with the band though, I don't know. I like improv as well though.

My question though, why be a dick about it? If you don't like this music, fine. If as "far out" as you want to get is Battles, fine. That's not a problem by me. You don't have to tell us it's incorrect to like this.

  • @cobaine92 what do you mean by freeform? You think they made it all up on the spot or something? I checked out battles and I like this better.

  • what is there to understand? it's still just music, don't get upset because others don't have the same musical experience as you do.

  • I'm agree, but music is a kind of language and would still deserve to be understood before declaring free eminent opinions.

  • Well I guess you have a point...there are so many forms of music where some musicians even suggests that the listener is high on some drug to fully understand their work.

  • I don't think it is the case. However, go to use some kind of drugs if you find it enjoyable in any case, would be just your own choice. And yes, take care to choose the right sound to avoid some bad trip, real musicians don't care that much your own mental hygiene, you know.

    "Winners don't use (usually) drugs"

    Bye

  • Winners just use the right drugs.

  • Winners don't use drugs, they use any means necessary.

  • @RottenGraphty RRRRRRRREAL HIGH ON DRUGS!!!!

  • @RottenGraphty

    hahahaha. awsome comment.

  • @RottenGraphty you sir are a winner

  • @RottenGraphty Yes, and witch drugs are "the right" ? ;)

  • @Ast1337 music.....ohh and DMT of course!

  • @RottenGraphty drugs use the right winners

  • @mazxim I truly honestly disagree with that statement.

Many people, both in my own social group as well as more well-known people whom I look up to, have admitted to the benefits of psychedelic experiences. For myself it was mushrooms, other people learned for instance to be more social from mdma, Steve Jobs famously said taking lsd was one of the most important experiences of his life, not to mention all of the music that was inspired by psychedelics..

  • @NJlo After a joint, creativity explodes.

  • @NJlo Not to mention all the important scientific discoveries that were made while on hallucinogens.

  • Nördar!

  • I'm well aware of braille, but I've never heard of a watch for blind people, how does it work?

  • I think the most common one is that you press a button on the watch and it will say what the time it is. Probably a thousand different styles of it

  • I love these guy. But I though Mats was blind, why is he wearing a watch?

  • ahahaha it probably talks to him

  • Its a watch for blind people. Dont tell me you also dont know how blind people can read?

  • Comment removed

  • Mats lifting his shirt up from outta nowhere freaked me out for a second.

  • I love it when music does that to me.

  • That guitar solo part at the ending is very similar to something p-funk did, but I can't remember the song name.

  • Zappa doing Super Mario.

  • 5:53......amazing

  • I love this stuff, THIS IS TRUE MUSIC!

  • This music is such a mindfuck

  • love the bass players sounds...... fantastic.

  • Great Music someone said in comments that music and maths aren't related... are you serious??

  • Heeelloooooooo... It's me Mario :PPPPPPPP

  • Yea i fell my brain working too. Is this what math sounds like? Great song.

  • whoa what are you talking about? math and music aren't related??

man, music is all patterns, thats exactly what math is! Well, you don't need to know math to play music, but they are definitely related. And how does math appeal to visual senses? Math is theoretical, it's doesn't technically appeal to any senses.

  • Comment removed

  • math is everywhere

  • I mean it does relates to everything, even to music.

    Amazing band

  • i guess, some sort of braindamage might help, playing this music, but seriously, it's just great and so far beyond...you can feel your brain work while listening

  • 0:31 reminds me of playing super tennis on the SNES.

  • Are these guys bored with playing music so they play something like this?

  • I actually find this piece very pleasant to listen to. I don't find it heavy at all.

  • hmmm.....chaos fusion....in a NICE way....

  • haha "Mats Öberg" looks enthused... haha

  • Nourishment for the ears!

  • Mats Öberg is a god!!

  • TRUE ART!!!!!

  • THE BEST

  • AWESOME

  • I REALLY haven't heard music this challenging in a LONG TIME.... I REALLY NEEDED this!!!

    Off to buy the album!!!

  • I agree, I was beginning to despair about the state of 21C music... until I discovered these guys. Thank God!

  • Awesome mindfuck music :)

  • We NEED Prog bands like this nowdays!

  • What kind of musik is this. I mean is is electonic or something related ?

  • uhm. if youre aiming for genre, i suppose progressive rock

  • jazz rock/fusion

  • madness

  • i love the part at 2:55

bass player is a very far out player :D

  • Indeed, Tommy doesn't get enough credit, some of the bass parts are very out there.

  • Bad video sync. :(

    Great band tho, amazing skills!

  • what pisses me off is that the intro is missing here and its really good. it opens this whole thing up but its gone.oh well.i got the live cd

  • If you're talking about another recording of this tune i see what you mean, but in this movie the entire thing is included from start to finish. No intro missing.

  • ive got the cd(mats n' morgan 'live') and it starts out with a very cool intro.thats way i first heard it so i guess i like it that way. regardless, they are great

  • Actually, the CD You are referring to is recorded at Club Fasching (which is GREAT!). This is from the TV-show called "Trum", which can be found on the CD "On Air With Guests".

  • This was aimed at lunarsiege, I don't know why it didn't show up below the other comments =/

  • thanx man

  • nevertheless its still a really good song.

  • i agree sir

  • THIS BAND IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING

  • Hollmer is Lars Hollmer (Swedish group Samla mammas manna or Von Zamla)

  • Strange music...

  • its great ... so many inspirations! Awesome musicians and great ideas! I love every note!

  • That is one demented Waltz! I Like IT!

  • I have no idea what Hollmervalsen means but this tune kicks some serious ass.

  • Hollmer Waltz, and who's Hollmer? hehe

  • Lars Hollmer was the mastermind behind Samla Mammas Manna, a swedish proggband from the 70's. This song was named Hollmervalsen cus Mats and Morgan thought this song sound like him and my guess is they are inspired from him and the kind of music Lars created. He died only last year from cancer.

  • thanks for that, just looked them up on spotify and they're brilliant!

  • "hollmer's vals"?? or "the hollmer vals"...something like that i believe
