Haha if you are not a fan of triple sec do not use it! Use grandmarnier instead orange liquer but better quality...Do never use this premixed sourmix shit... buy a lemon!!! mix half sugar and half lemon and you have sourmix... for Long Island Ice tea you just need a measure of lemon or orange juice and no sourmix whatsoever cause you sweeten with the triple sec orange liquer... ANd by the way It is a myth that the long island was a prohibiton drink!!! It wa smore likely inevented in the 1970s
@habacuk1985 we use our own sour mix now, this was 1-year ago. I do, on occasion, still use Triple Sec but we've also got Combier, Patron Citronge, Grand Marnier, Curacao and a host of other orange liqueurs now.
@jamcam4 nice i just bought a bottle of new amslast night to drink on new years lol didnt really make no fancy cocktails with it or nuthin more or less just pounded the 5th ;) lol HAPPY NEW YEAR
@halo3BRcarnage but if u buy a mix of everything and u want to make later time another drink which include one of these ingredients you are not going to have it but if ur just wanna try this then i think its cool :3
Most of the recipe that I have found use half ounces so you can actually having more than one in a night...is it the way to go or the best taste is to have 1 ounce?
No, if you use one alcohol you'll get something closer to a straight spirit, more like a martini. You'd need all or most to come close to the flavor or else it's a completely different drink--probably already has a name too I'm sure!
@CJSanAndreas2020 if you use one type of alcohol what you've essentially got there is..whatever the alcohol is, and coke. so...vodka coke, gin coke, rum coke, etc.
Triple sec is probably around 17% ABV, like most schnapps. However, real triple sec is much different that that sweeter sprite you see in the stores. Usually, it's more orange and probably resembles that of a cointreau.
But, for USD $9, you get what you get and you don't get upset :)
i just made this on my 1st try - and your totaly right. Being a ice-tea lover : half the glass was gone before i relized it wasn't tea HA HA - but nonetheless : this is a great recipe. Thanks.
Agreed. You can take these over the edge, I have on a few occasions. The problem is, they creep up on you so fast and then it's too late...call a cab :)
Great Video. One of the few videos on Youtube that actually does the correct recipe...with 5 liquors and Sour mix (and just topped with Cola). 5 stars. :-)
lol, thanks. There are so many recipes, it's hard to find the most classic of them; sometimes I go away from classic if it means it tastes better to me.
Long island ice tea is one of my most memorable drinking experiences, so simple yet complex.
Lot's of video's I've not found interested in on youtube too, I just don't feel compelled to put down and insult their makers. If someone takes the time to create something themselves and peruse it, that's awesome.
I also don't give much credit to those that don't even take the time to spell correctly. Had you put in a bit more effort and spelled out basic sight words like "you" I'd be more inclined to take it seriously.
you should do a AMF

it would save a lot of time if you pre-opened your bottles before the show and just recap them afterwards!

Hi. What is the best way to make homemade sour mix? Thanks
Spooks99 1 year ago
@Spooks99 funny you should ask, next week I've got an episode on how I make it :) But, what I typically do is:
1 part Lime
1 part Lemon
2 parts Simple Syrup
Then, I use a bit of vodka to stabalize it for longer.

Would New Amsterdam gin be good for this? Brave Spirits isn't availible in my area.
also would Svedka vodka and 1800 tequila be good substitutes?
jamcam4 1 year ago
@jamcam4 Yep, substitute your favorite (or only) gin/tequila, etc. :)
New Amsterdam is good, I don't believe that was out when this video was recorded.

pencrazypal 1 year ago
@pencrazypal It's exactly the same as using half ounce measures, since the drink has the same proportions--it's just smaller :)
everydaydrinkers 1 year ago
@pencrazypal you should only do half ounce really if your doin one long island,
i do a whole ounce if im makin 2

I have a question. Can you only use one type of alcohol instead of 5? like for example if i only use vodka will it still taste the same?
CJSanAndreas2020 2 years ago
No, if you use one alcohol you'll get something closer to a straight spirit, more like a martini. You'd need all or most to come close to the flavor or else it's a completely different drink--probably already has a name too I'm sure!
everydaydrinkers 2 years ago
Aahh ok and does it have a strong taste? Can people who dont like strong alcohol taste will be able to drink this?
CJSanAndreas2020 2 years ago
Often times, yes, it has a strong taste. This is usually the case when you put aside the juices, sugars and such to build a full alcohol based drink.
It's safe to say, if you don't like a lot of alcohol, a long island ice tea is not the way to go :)
everydaydrinkers 2 years ago
@CJSanAndreas2020 if you use one type of alcohol what you've essentially got there is..whatever the alcohol is, and coke. so...vodka coke, gin coke, rum coke, etc.

everydaydrinkers 2 years ago
I know a shooter recipe with the ingredients thats in there.
The Screamer:
-1 part tequila
-1part vodka
-1 part triple sec
-1 part rhum
-1 part gin
Shake with ice.
It is strong, I tried it. If you have the time and the courage, good luck!
0DudeInBlue0 2 years ago
Okay triple sec by itself, is fucking awesome.
Just not enough alcohol in it for it to matter, so no one drinks it. What is it? like the same alcohol content as Diet coke?
Lithium102 2 years ago
@Lithium102 To me lol
Perhaps I've just always had flavored tripled sec.
