  • I played the original song w/ this verison muted, and I gotta say I enjoyed both songs. Great video, thank you for posting this. ^-^

  • This music was very well chosen for rigaud. Charming, sexy, yet dark and edgy and dangerous. Andy Serkis, looooong overdue an Oscar. Hopefully he'll be nominated for playing Caesar. Outstanding!

  • And to think that this guy played gollum in the lord of the rings. Master actor right here.

  • OMGosh. He's so desperately, despicably wicked. I love him! =D

I thought the song "Arabian Dance" fit him like perfection. Even if it wasn't the original song for the video! I loved 3:04 and every shot with him in a loose white shirt open at the collar...

I DIGRESS! I'm trying to thank you for this video! lol

  • Oh my gosh this was incredible!! I recently watched Little Dorrit with my father and sister in spring and Serkis STOLE the show!! :D Loved every minute he was onscreen. Wasn't it frightening how wherever he went, he left someone dead behind?

I didn't see this tribute with its original music, but I love this combination, being an enormous Tchaikovsky fan and somehow the Arabian Dance seems fit Rigaud like a glove, or that awesome coat he wears. *instant fave*

  • He is just delicious.

  • Saw the first part of Little Dorrit last night, and oh wow. Andy Serkis is just incredible, and Rigaut stole my heart and my breath right away... he is just incredible.

  • Sorry, I meant Rigaud - it was late at night...

  • Too bad the original song wasn't allowed it fits Andy as Rigaud perfectly, but this was a very good tribute 5/5

Andy sure looks handsome in period outfits :D

  • that fake nose sure makes Andy..look like a different person. But all around awesome no matter what!

  • I believe that too fake nose

  • I love Andy Serkis, I love that song and I love you too for this video. Thanks ^^

  • This Arab Dance music feels wrong for this now. Sharp Dressed Man was better.

  • Really changes the tone, doesn't it? However, the original is still available at metacafe under the old title, should you wish to see it again.

  • I totally agree! :¬( The visuals, however, remain superb... ;¬)

  • Such a nice piece of music but yet creepy enough that it fits Rigaud from LITTLE DORRIT.

  • luverly! He is mesmerizing and I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so

  • I'm currently watching LITTLE DORRIT on PBS and it's pretty amazing.

  • The version of Oliver Twist where Serkis plays Bill Sykes is from Masterpiece Theatre made in 1999-pre Gollum creepyness! I was so glad to see him in Little Dorrit playing a villan with style as only he can.

  • Andy Serkis was AMAZING in Little Dorrit! Thank you for this!

  • I'm so disappointed that they took away the music. Sharp-dressed man was hilarious!!!! And it made Rigaud look less creepy because it was comical. I'm worried that the new music makes him scary again!!

  • Quest ce qui passe ici, si tard!

  • Un homme FABULEUX ;)

  • Thanks so much for creating this video. I was missing my fix of Rigaud/Larnier/Blandois. I wouldn't normally have the hots for a guy who looks like this but the performance was so mesmerizing that I seriously fancy him!

    Superbe!

  • Thanks for commenting - and yes, "mesmerizing" was indeed the word!

  • Truly magnificently villainously portrayed ! Had me glued to Little Dorritt like a dribbling fangirl. The Serkmeister blew away the rest of the cast with just the raise of an eyebrow. And dammit he is HOT ! Thanks for posting !

  • Sorry to be so late in replying, but thanks very much for your comment - and YES. WORD.

  • thank you. I thought he was abit hot too but i dint know if that made me a bit weird lol x

  • by far the best portrayal of a dickens villian ever, makes bill sykes look like a cissy!!!

  • I agree - and now I'm on the lookout for the version of OLIVER TWIST where Serkis plays Sikes. Dickens Villain Cagematch!!

  • ...Except for Andy's own version of Sikes, that is... ;¬)

  • No, thank YOU for commenting! Much appreciated!

  • Anyone know what the tune he keeps whistling is?

    Cheers.

  • Search YT for "Compagnons de la Marjolaine" posted by the user angelaying and you'll find a sweet animated version ;)

  • Brilliant. Serkis played a blinder in this. I'm sure he, for one, not be short of work from now on. Villainous roles will now be measured against this. Dickens would have been very pleased and proud of him. Super casting by the BBC.

  • YES! Thank you for this!

  • Argg. I keep trying to leave a comment and it never posts!

anyway, good job. The most "fabulous" vid I've seen in a while.

I'm also glad he's not only getting work but he's actually on screen for it.

  • Oh yes! (FWIW, just watched "Stormbreaker", and it was a colossal waste of his talent - such a great vocal talent, and he didn't even get a single line! Oh, and it made Bill Nighy look like he couldn't act. AVOID THIS MOVIE.)

  • Hahahahahahahaha!

This has to be one of the BEST dedication videos I have ever seen! I completely agree with you, Andy Serkis steals every scene he appears in!

Funny song, considering Rigaud only wears one outfit throughout the entire series. I loved your editing!

  • It's true that the "brigand" outfit doesn't really count as a change... But hey, he wears his ONE outfit with so much style, n'est-ce pas? ;) I love your collection of period dramas, btw!

  • TOO FUNNY!!!

Awesome job! As much as I feared Rigaud, LD wouldn't have been the same without him!

    5 Stars!

  • Thank you so much - and I agree completely, but would you believe they actually axed Rigaud from the 1988 film of LD? Having seen the Serkmeister in action, it's impossible to imagine the story without him.

  • Actually, this is a perfect song to use for the vid because Rigaud's outfits were fabulous; the clothing of the period really suits Andy, I think! :¬)

  • Oh yes he looks a million francs, no question! Here's hoping he gets even more opportunities to model fabulous historical duds in the future.

P.S. What clinched this song as "Rigaud" for me were the lyrics at 0.55 and 1.07-1.09 ;)

  • "Featuring Andy Serkis as Rigaud, and a bunch of other actors who, though excellent, tended to fade into insignificance whenever Rigaud appeared." - DAMN RIGHT, LOL!! :¬D Thank you so much for making this fabulous video; I *adore* Andy in this role, and this video is a brilliant tribute to the incorrigible Rigaud. Yeah, I must admit I didn't pay an awful lot of attention to anyone else when he was onscreen. :¬D

  • Thank you - so nice to meet another Rigaud addict! Think we should campaign to persuade the BBC to issue Rigaud his own spin-off series? Hey, if ITV could do it for "Micawber"... ;)

  • Haha! Fabulous! :-D

And *definitely* Andy's best role to date!

  • Thank you! (And totally agree re Andy's best so far!)

  • Great vid! Fived and faved. :D

Rigaud/Blandois was Andy's best role yet, IMHO.

  • Thank you very much! (And yes, he needs to win some serious recognition for this performance.)
