  • After reviewing footage of IRAQI tank "battles" where the superior sensors and fire-control systems of the M1-Abrams MBT smoked large numbers of lesser mobile armor, with virtually NO friendly casualties ... It makes LOTS of (good) sense to adapt these same sensors and FC systems to a faster/lighter/cheaper mobile platform, such as the Stryker, because speed and agility (and LOWER cost and better fuel efficiency) can be had, in lieu of heavy armor .. Hmm?

~ Especially where roads are present !

  • @phrankus2009 I take your point, but the advantage of mobility and light weight in a conventional scenario are lost facing a non conventional confrontation involving heavy urban fighting, the Stryker proves to be unfit for the task, wheeled vehicles are not capable of supporting the extra armour required to fill the mission paramaters, wich basically means surviving direct hits from RPGs, IDEs etc, you would need a vehicle with MBT armour, the Israelis have a vast experience in this area

  • @XxLIVRAxX

Well, Point taken, except for the budget and logistics, for an M1MBT are ENTIRELY prohibitive ...

... Also, NATO+Israel have both come up with CIDS, like "IRON CURTAIN" which go a long way to compensating for a lack of heavy armor ... Israel, INDEED ! I am sure you have seen these videos ? Looks VERY effective.

  • @phrankus2009 An existing and battle proven platforms with improved survivability with 21 century armour protection makes more sense to me....is just a view, but I feel that far to many american soldiers have been killed by the pentagons lack of real strategical thinking and a long series of bad decisions in terms of equipment

  • @phrankus2009 Ive seen the Throphy system and indeed looks promesing against the threat of RPGs, but dos not look as a possible solution to face IEDs, the Israelis have developed heavy APCs using hauls of capture T55 MBT and from then on used the hauls of centurion and Merkava tanks, right now the Namer is the best protected APC in the world and is specifically design to meet the demands of Urban Warfare, the Israelis M113 Gavin have been adapted with an amour package.

  • @phrankus2009 Having an already existent fleet of M113 Gavin in the US army, why not improve the armour protection and benefit from the advantages of wheeled vehicles instead of investing billions of dollars in developing new platforms that are unsuited for Urban Warfare, the possibility of the US facing a large force of enemy armour are slim, but urban confrontation will become increasingly common, I think they are corporate interest on the way, the industrial military complex lobby pressure,

  • @XxLIVRAxX Yeah, well, I am not a military expert and I really cannont quote the casualty statistics, nor have I been orederred to ride around in the Strykers BUT, I do know this: (1) Beats the heck out of a Hummer (even an armored one?) (2) Stryker has a ~350cc engine and can hook down the hyway at ~60mph, caqrrying an entire squad (3) Israel is a small country. No way we could run MBTs all over Afghanistan, where there IS NO FUEL ! No ... Stryker is not perfect but it is an "improvement"

  • Its old as heck compared to the new vehicles like Mrap. The stryker is so vuranable and somtimes is a peice of crap Its good fo rhideing shooting and stealth. It cant take hits from ieds and rocket propelled grenades thats why it has that caged system to prematurley nthe charge away from killing range. The Prianah looks better equiped then the styrker which came out in the eighties.

  • HOO - AH

  • He...does that stuff kill?

  • Weren't there some problems with this thing flipping over in sharp turns?

  • it jammed on the final shot ......

  • 11 people fail to understand military vehicles.

  • sdelali kopiyou BTR i gordyatsya amerikanzy blin .

  • Lav's are POS!

  • Strykers fuckin suck. If you're gonna do light armor do it right.

    PFC ######, 2nd LAR, USMC

  • It will not replaced track, but Stryker brigade can be use as a quick reaction force. the speed of wheel on the road mean's it can reach crisis area (by road) in a reasonable time. track is good during combat operation, but it slower speed and higher fuel consumption mean's it's more suited for role of a heavier and more powerful force that arrive later to relieve the stryker team.

  • @phadil and remember that with the striker you dont have as much maintenance as a track vehicle....unless you have rubber track but that a different story

  • my third cousin is the owner of general dynamics

  • what's with the music from "Commando"? lol but nah, cool vid

  • Is that a massive shell casing coming out of this critter??

  • accept* lol

  • i have never seen this thing riding and shooting at the same time

  • ive seen the MGS version of it firing and moving

  • i already have as well

  • Now I changed my mind a bit. They should make it hybrid of tank and stryker.

Four steering stryker wheel and Tank like chains in the back to give more off road power and carring capability.

  • All amys love guns why ?

was bringen den waffen nur mord

  • made in London Ontario Canada

  • These are made in USA. Both the american and canadian vehicles are based on swiss Mowag Piranha.

  • Ive been sitting in it today, i aimed with it, i love that APC!! IT ROCKS

  • I could use one of those babies during rush hour...

  • HOO-AH!

  • Stryker is very important development and trend. Take into account that oil will be very expensive by the year 2020. Demand will go over the roof. Tank aren't economical and slow relatively. Cheaper and easy to transport Strykers are answer to future conditions.

  • Then a stationary tank will destroy it. This isn't meant to replace tanks. This might be good in urban combat but is horrible against HEAT and ATGMs.

  • it would seem you aren't agreed with given your amount of thumbs down haha

  • Well obviously they don't want to except the truth the armor is thin a RPG-7 can easily penetrate this.

  • @eviltwin777 i think the newer ones have the anti rocket pulse on it though. im not too sure

  • lol no... rpgs dont penetrate this... no we have like big bars on the sides... im not even kidding they bounce right off... or the blast hits the outer skin...

  • @yourcomingoffstupid indeed its called SLAT armour its very good rpg's cant do shit to a stryker...

if they hit the SLAT armour :P

  • learn to spell first.

  • gopferdami, you think an overwight vehicle by almost 10 tons is quiet? Oh, and by the way, the m113's armor is 5083 aluminum, or high quality aircraft aluminum, which does NOT burn. If the M113 is so bad, then why was it around for OVER 40 YEARS!

  • yea actually they are very quiet. how would i know im a vehicle commander for a ICV. they are fast and can take many hits in the past 3 deployments my battalion has had one catostrophic kill of a stryker thats sayin somethin

  • Stryker is by far the best Solution. There is nothing that is saver, faster or quieter than the Stryker. Take the M113 Shoe Carton with its aluminum armor and you are wind up not only death but also cooked. The M113 was only fast because of its aluminum armor. Take that away and you got a perfect rolling coffin.

  • shottymad your wrong, these vehicles are badass. Im in the united states army and im a ATGM stryker driver. These vehicles are equiped with 14.5 mm armor not including the bird cage that goes around it. IF you ask anyone who has been in one of these things and got hit by an ied they will tell you that the stryker saves lives. This is one of the few military vehicles that can go 80 mph and have enough ass end to climb a mountain. GREAT GREAT VEHICLE

  • 14.5 mm? A .50 caliber heavy machine gun would make a cheese out of this vehicle

  • You don't know shit!

  • I don't kow what the Army put in your vaccines but the M1126 can't reach 80 MPH. If it could you would probably flip ass over head when you stopped.

  • @ryanhendricks2006 Late response here but I'm shipping Nov. 11th of this year as a 68w. I was looking to get attached to a Stryker unit, 2nd Calvary or similar. Is this the recommended, best protection vehicle?

  • Lol. sad but true. if you compare with the Russian infantry carrier looks tougher and thicker.. please anybody don't give me low rate comment. I'm just telling the truth..

This stryker is way worser than a girlie-truck, It's a junk truck piece of shit, an rpg could knock this baby down flat on the ground.

  • This vehicle looks very promising. There are versions with a M2 browning .50cal, Mk19 automatic grenade launcher, a bushmaster 25mm chain gun, a the one in this video with a

105mm rifled gun. This vehicle could realisticly replace every other vehicle in our arsenal. That 105 will probibly turn into a 120mm someday and be able to engage anything on the modern battle field.

  • "This vehicle could realisticly replace every other vehicle in our arsenal."

It's not a tracked vehicle, tracked vehicles can go practically anywhere, this can't.

  • @Weirdologist I'm saying this again... HOW THE FUCK WOULD YOU KNOW?

  • @Weirdologist That is true though Wheeled vehicles are faster.

  • @Weirdologist Strykers are called in army as interim infantry carrier. There's ain't version equpipped with 25 or 30mm fast gun. They will be replaced with Ground Combat Vehicle in future, cause today wars with insurgents are good for SBCT, but future simetric conflicts will involve havey power, so there will be more HBCTs

  • Would this MGS be sutiable to fill the role of an armored car in peacekeeping? Replacing AML 90s( stop laughing,We know )

  • up to the best of my knowledge, this vehicle failed to achieve the desired ‎performance in IRAQ war‎

  • You sure about that?

Everywhere there has been a hotspot in iraq, there has been a stryker unit flexed to end the violence and regain control.

I should know I have helped clear Baghdad,Tal afar,Sadr City, Samarra, New Baghdad and Diyala....many many more places and provinces then i care to remember....and we held the ground because the battle space owners were too afraid to go where we went and too lazy to dismount and clear door to door for 12 to 18 hours a day. "Ghosts of the Desert"

  • Thanks for your comment

  • This is a okay vehical aside from it getting blown up alot and falling into canals in Iraq, i still think the BTR-90 is better, check it out.

  • БТР90 мертворожденный выкидыш постсоветского автопрома, с противопульной бронёй, не выдерживающей никакой критики. Так всё таки чем он может быть лучше?

  • The Stryker is a great vehicle. I just hope they add a larger RCWS to the standard ICV.

  • lol HOOAH

  • i am a mechanic for GDLS and i gotta the ya that the stryker is the most impressive vehical there are so many different applications that the styker can handle, everything from being a medical vehical to a full on assult vehical.

  • Nice one!

Driving a tank is the funniest I have done ever ;)
