Perhaps the bible is meant as a test for those who read it. If you believe it and enslave yourself to this being you will die for eternity but if you use your own head and figure out the riddles in the book you will become free. And experience the full extent of free will, passing the test and become immortal. If independence is wrong I would rather die from thirst than drink from that cup of mediocrity. God is not enough for me. My destiny lies with me and me alone. No being can change that.

Don't deceive yourself, God never lies.
Freedom is found in Christ, apart from Him there is only enslavement to sin and self.
To rebel against God and go your own way is indeed wrong, and it will lead to only death and misery. God will exalt those who trust in Him, but He will utterly cast down the rebels.
Then your destiny lies with corruption, death, and misery.

Perhaps you are the one being decieved. Did you know the bible's tales about god and satan actually comes from an egyptian story about the battle between two gods called Enki and Adonay?
By the way, if it leads only to misery and death, then I have nothing left to lose. It's my way or the highway. Too bad, eh?

No I don't think so, Jesus Christ always spoke the truth in exceeding wisdom. I have no trouble whatsoever placing all of my confidence and faith in Him, rather than my own fallible and feeble mind.
I sincerely doubt you have any clear evidence indicated that the Bible is directly linked to those. Especially seeing as how God destroyed and mocked the egyptian's religion
It may bear some resemblance however, and this is because of general revelation.
It's either God's way, or damnation.

No, the egyptian religion with it's pantheon came long before christian religion gained any real influence over people. The bible is hardly a credible source for historical events. Scientific and archeological findings weigh heavier on the scale when it comes to truth.
Condemn me all the way if you want to, but my resolve stands strong in this case.

I recognize that their religion was established prior to the scripture's being written. This does not mean that God's revelation is in any way derived from their religion.
I would say that the bible is a literally and totally accurate source of historical events.
Archeological findings actually support the scripture in the vast majority of instances. Although not everything can be specifically verified by this.
So you're resolved to rebel and go to hell ... ok.

The bible say earth is about 6000 years old. Carbon-14 dating of the earth says otherwise... And if you doubt that method of knowing the earth's true age, remember that it was developed and tested through mathematical principles about the half-life of that and other materials.

The exact age of the earth is not given in the scriptures, it is derived from adding up the ages of men from the beginning.
God created the earth fully formed in it's present state, it did not take trillions of years to accumulate ... although some of the materials may have properties which would indicate otherwise.
I've heard that argument before and it simply doesn't work, neither does the dating method.

I know the dating method works, the radioactive decay of materials over millennias and eons is consistent with mathematical studies about how materials break down into different isotopes.
I never heard any stories about people riding on dinosaurs back in those days so where did those fossils come from? 5 billion years may sound like a lot of time, but isn't from a geological perspective.

It presumes too many things such as a constant rate of decay, also the materials we are speaking about were more than likely created in such a state.
The scripture doesn't give any exact details regarding dinosaurs however the most consistent position would be that they were created along with all other creatures.
If you haven't noticed there is a real lack of large reptiles on the earth and it is probably due to the changing of conditions after the flood

It's strange that relatively large and dangerous reptiles such as Komodo dragons and Crocs could survive then. I think you are assuming a bit much since the bible definitely doesn't cover that part at all. Materials created that way? It's only your own guessing.
It simply takes too long for animals and plants to be fossilized like that. And that is definitely not guessing considering frozen people found in ice have been carbon dated to more than 10.000 years.

They aren't nearly as large as most dinosaurs, and I am assuming things ... the scripture doesn't really cover these topics.
It is funny how human history can only be traced back to relatively recent times. Apart from primates, that is.
I don't have the answers regarding these things, I'm not a scientist.
Either way I'll gladly set aside my own thoughts and trust the one who was there.
