I had this issue start after replacing the laser. I had taken it apart before to try tweaking the DVD potentiometer on the back of the laser as it was only reading CD not DVD. I decided it needed a new laser so I ordered a PWR802 for it. Now the laser seeks and attempts to focus but the spindle doesn't spin at all. I was thinking I blew the driving circuit. I looked at the output singles coming off the mobo and they are making it to the drive but the single looks like a dirty sinewave.

mine is like the same cause the disc doesn't move so even the laser doesn't move so what will i do sir can someone please help me!!!

I don't think it's the spindle motor because mine does the exact same thing and I bought a new spindle motor, still the same problem. Maybe mine has something different.

the sensor of closing is dirty. when you close te disc cover this sensor activate the motor. If you have problem with the laser the disc spining and stop 3 times and stop finally. but if the sensor is dirtty or broken the disc never spin, and if you move the laser, the laser will in the same position. bye. sorry but im not english speaker

you have change your laser, I don´t see the model of your laser, but that is a problem caused by the laser usually

I abuse my system, its the fat PS2, I verbally and physically abuse it then I show him his brother PS2 slim. The fat PS2 does not like me anymore, so I play with the PS2 slim now.

Now, I think you might be glad to know that I fixed this Pstwo that was given to me as I have fix many others.

Sony made this Pstwo pretty badly : you could be an idiot yourself because they get dammage on their own: it's a conception problem and Sony admited it!
