  • that song makes me feel that im flying in a plane way up in the sky

  • Thanks for posting this song.....the singer Rickie Lee Jones has an incredible voice. I remember this song from when I was kid....i'm 33 now. Crazy how certain songs stick in your head and make an impression on a child!

  • In the end, Pinoch got the girl.

  • Man I love this movie thnx so much for posting this on youtube and love this song

  • OMG I SANG THAT IN THE SHOWER!!!!!!!XD

  • Thank you! damn I have been looking for this forever. I thought I was dreaming this song up. I could not for the life of me figure out the title or what movie it was from, I use to watch this film like mad when I was a kid in the 80's

  • RIP - Tom Bosley and Don Knotts

We will never forget you guys and THANKS FOR POSTING THIS MOVIE!

  • Does anyone remember another cool 80's animated cult classic from New World called Warriors of the Wind? the original 1985 US butchery of Nausicaa? I DID when i was 4 years old 25 years ago when i rented it then fell in love with it and even had my parents buy me it for christmas. I even had it taped off HBO on a blank tape with other stuff as i was obsessed with it and was my childhood favorite animated movie.

  • @Johnlindsey289 I remeber that one Lindsey!! A very moving story (death of her father, toxic jungle, threat of war, etc.). You just can't seem to find animation in these modern times that possess such a captivating feel of darkness, & hope to counter the darkness. Hell, the last modern animated movie I watched was probably Titan A.E (I enjoyed it)! Another one I enjoyed was Unico.

  • Wow! You are so right! I love cartoons like this! They're better than the cartoons airing now! I saw this when I was younger but never saw the whole movie, only the dance scene with Pinocchio and Twinkle! But this is a VERY meaningful movie. If I have kids one day, I will show this movie to them! THANK YOU to the person who took the time to download the WHOLE movie! I miss times like this as well, old cartoons have such a happy feel to them!

  • Does anyone see this a "a coming of age" film, it has both child and adult themes to it and darkness and light and in spite of all the dark elements in this film, If I were a parent I would have taken my children to see this film. A little boy's defiance and conquer of an ancient evil is a pretty strong message. It was Pinocchio's right of passage.

  • whenever i hear this song, it reminds me of my childhood, and somehow to me the song gives or fuels me with hope even though times are bad in this day and age. beautiful song il never forget it.

  • Who was Bee-atrice"?

  • I get goosebumps whenever I hear this song. It's so moving and true. Love is the most powerful virtue given to mankind. And the power and freedom of choice.

  • Great film! It brought back lots of memories of my childhood (including the horrors of it...lol). The jokes about Puppetino being a pedophile in most of the comments made me lmao, and now i can't take that scene serious anymore. Thanks commenters :) lol

  • Also RIP Tom Bosley for Such a Magnificent Performance as Geppetto!!!! He Will Be Missed Greatly!!!!

  • One of My True All Time Favorite Animated Films!!! Everything about this Film is Just Perfect! The Voice Acting, The Art Direction, The Character Development, The Characters Themselves, and The Music!!! This is Truly My Favorite Story of Pinocchio, Tying With The 1940 Walt Disney Production! This Film is to Me the True Definition of a Classic and I think this should be appriciated more Today then it did back then! Thank You Johnlindsey289 for returning the magic feelings of my Childhood back! =)

  • Wow johnlindsey, thank you so much again for this upload. you've obivously made A LOT of ppl happy with it.

just watched Return to Oz, another dark, incredible underrated sequel before this. (wheelers uuuuuugh) fucking fantastic night. black cauldron is next!!!

p.s. the last unicorn is i think the best of all these movies based solely on the script, pacing, and direction. it was perfect. a completely adult cartoon.

  • 0:09, Darth Vader (James Earl Jones) is the Emperor of the Night.

  • So totally a worthwhile video to remember! I could never get this song out of my head. And I was a fan of Filmation from the get go. But this just reinforced it after I finished watching He-Man and She-Ra. Kudos to any who like or remember this show.

  • I Love The You're A Star Song It's Great!!! My Favorite Scene Was When Pinocchio Was Performing His Mini Concert! Good Old Days

  • I think these animated films have such lasting power because they incorporated the colorful joy of youth with the dark and sinister reality of the true living world.

There is both good and evil in the world, and these animated treasures from the 80s and early 90s were popular BECAUSE they showed the battle between light and dark. You can't learn about something by pretending it doesn't exist. *sigh* I miss these times.

  • i agree. i was born on the 12th july 1990 and i have this on vhs :)

  • @Sethrezin

    Precisely.

Animated movies nowadays are concerned with such trivial matters of little consequence, or they're just absolutely random with a bunch of colorful images that make no sense whatsoever.

My animated childhood dealt with the joy of youth combined with the sinister dark reality you describe.

Sometimes, even when things seem absolutely hopeless, you have to keep going. The struggle between light and dark, the themes of right, wrong and coming of age...it's all here.

  • @barraki92 I agree completely! i am tired of seeing people talk bad about this movie because of the "transformation" scene with Pinocchio! This movie sends a powerful message and I think kids should watch this!

  • @sonicxisforever

This moral of this film is absolutely fantastic:

    THE POWER OF CHOICE.

Only YOU can CHOOSE what path YOU take, no one else can/should decide your actions for you, which is an absolutely golden lesson for people of ALL ages to learn! It's not just for kids, it's for everybody.

The struggles between the dark and light, having to cope with depression, going on when things seem hopeless, choosing what path you take and letting no one but yourself dictate the outcome...GOLDEN!

  • Thanks for posting this really great animated classic. If only children's animation today was half as cool and creepy as this. Coraline is the only recent good one that comes to mind.

  • No problem, do you think family cartoon movies back then were creepy and dark even when it comes to this, Black Cauldron and Dark Crystal or even Nightmare Before Christmas?

Isn't it amazing that the guys who made He-Man, She-Ra, Star Trek Animated, Bravestarr, and The Ghost Busters made this movie? i mean it's quite different from their usual recycled animation stuff as it has true animation. And who would win? Horned King from Black Cauldron or the Emperor?

  • Family cartoons were very creepy and dark back then. The Secret of NIMH and The Last Unicorn had some really creepy moments in them as well. I think the Horned King would probably win, as the Emperor seemed like the bigger bully to me.

  • Do you think this Pinocchio movie is more like The Black Cauldron then Disney's Pinocchio? afterall all three movies are quite dark and not so cheery fairy tale cartoon movies. Do you think this is as good as Disney's Pinocchio? i simply adore both versions when i was a kid and still do. No way can people compare both movies, they are completely different. It's like comparing the new Batman movies to the Tim Burton ones when they are different takes.

  • Comparing this movie to the original would also be like comparing Return to Oz with The Wizard of Oz. Both are completely different but equally great. I think this movie is closer in tone to The Black Cauldron, and i like it every bit as much as the original Pinnochio.

  • Agree, same for both Willy Wonka movies.

  • @TheAltair4 the last unicorn scared the shit out of me!! that drunk skeleton :|

  • I thought the drunken skeleton was kind of funny actually. The Red Bull and Mommy Fortuna both scared the crap out of me though. lol.

  • oh crap yeah that mommy fortuna was one scary lady!! the red bull didn't scare me too much, but the king was a scary looking dude, and it didn't help that christopher lee was the voice, his voice is creepy lol

  • King Haggard freaked me out as a kid.

Do you remember Secret of NIMH? another scary kids toon besides this and Last Unicorn?

  • @Johnlindsey289 i don't think i've seen that, but the black cauldron was freaky!! and have you seen snow white happily ever after? lord malice was one creepy character!!

  • @alczyn182

Yes Black Cauldron was a non-sugar coated Disney movie and Happily Ever After was ok but not as dark or strong as this movie, i felt Happily was kind of sacchrine and doesn't have the brilliant diginity of Emperor of the Night or Disney's Snow White.

  • @TheAltair4 the drunken skeleton yelling "uuuuunnnicorn" haunts me........ to this minute.

  • @TOPGUNyoni Yeah, it really was kind of unsettling how his character started off as a goofy and somewhat pathetic buffoon and then immediately turned evil and menacing when he realized Lady Amathea was really a unicorn.

  • @TheAltair4 totally.

  • @TheAltair4

I know he was creepy but Haggard creeped me out more and who knew that a magician had the power to turn a unicorn into a hot chick

  • @Johnlindsey289 Yes, and Lady Amalthea was one of the hottest of animated chicks too!

  • so true, fairy tales in general are laced with dark themes.

When I was a kid, it was these dark tales that really struck my emotions, not just for the feelings of peril, but the feelings of triumph you got at the end when the good guys won (usually).

For a child, it really hits home

  • the song is gratee!:)

  • Oh the memories are flushing back! Fantastic! Although ive read about this movie that people considered puppetino a pedophile and that the bit where he turned pinocchio into a puppet was to disturbing for children. Also the bit where pinocchio is in the land where dreams come true where he's drinking that green liquid people actually thought he was drinking absinthe which is illegal in most countries. Its a shame how it underperformed at the box office, i have such found memories of this film.

  • @vinnievanwham82

Well little advertising and mixed reviews, it's became a cult favorite.

  • strange how all the movies I liked underperformed at the box office.

This song is beautiful. It should've made the top 100.

  • wow, what a hell of a ride. what memories.

hard to believe how underrated this movie was.

  • @Coolgamer282000

Hey your that horror reviewer aren't you? awesome.

  • @Johnlindsey289 no, no. i don't review things. i couldn't stomach that job to save my life lol.

  • I used to watch this film when I was younger. I was still captured by this and the songs are still amazing!!

  • amazing

  • WONDERFUL movie, and this is SUCH a gorgeous song! I'm a huge fan of the Disney version, but having now watched this, I can safely say that this is my second-fave.

Only things that annoyed me was the whole Bugsberg thing, as well as the character of Grumblebee. Kinda silly, I thought. But all the songs were AMAZING, especially this one. So bittersweet...

  • @Shychick52

Yeh they could have cut that out of the film the Bugsberg thing since it sidetracked and lacked focus on our hero but i think this one is a nice dark movie.

  • @Shychick52

They had to through some light hearted elements into the fray, that's how animated movies work.

You can't just have a dark sinister reality without the least bit of innocence and childish displays.

But even you have to admit, Bugsberg was downplayed considerably, it didn't play much of a role in the movie, which I was grateful for.

  • By the way you'll find my Email/Msn on my page, I'm not lying this isn't a virus or anything I do actually have this track. I can send it if you Email me or add me.

  • @LetsLearnSomething can u send it me?

  • I love this film its my favorite to date, from 1-15 thank you mate. Keep this up let everyone remember it never forget it.

I have this track on mp3. It's easy to get.

  • can you please tell me where I get this track, thanks.

  • Wow!!!! That was one wild ride! Parts 1-15.... totally worth it! Thanks for the laughs, the tears, even some of the disturbing, and unintentional comedy and comments. Good times.

  • WOW! This is my 1st time seeing this. Boy, was it good! Thanks for a movie I've never seen and some horror scenes(Those Didn't seem to scare me) The tears, the laughs, Some intentionally disturbing moments (Which were not disturbing to me But, That's 80s eh?), some comedy scenes, and the wild ride I took watching this film (Being metaphorical) Oh, & Good rip, One last question I did not bother to ask to the user, Was this ripped from DVD Or Captured from VHS?

  • No idea if they made a DVD of this, but its definitely on VHS :).

  • I found a DVD version on Ebay for Region 2; however I didn't find one for region 1.

  • I remember watching this when I was 8 or 9....and even now its still one of the most epic cartoon movies out there

  • What, No Filmation Logo?

  • Only in the beginning along with New World Pictures.

  • Thanks so much for posting the movie

    Johnlindsey289! love it!

  • I LOVE this song!!!!!!!

    I want it on CD!!!!!!

  • Personally, for me, I've always found it to be an emotional song.

  • I think I got a hernia from laughing too hard at this movie. Satan with rainbows. Awesome.

  • Weird isn't it?

  • The movie and the comments were just too much... i think that Satan is queer probably... totally queer!

  • Tell me about it, he created a rainbow. He's probably the one who created the horrible LJN video game company.

Angry Video Game Nerd would kick his ass if he found out that the Emperor was resposible for shitty games.

  • WOW! My first time watching this movie & I love it. It may be different from the first movie but still a good movie nonetheless.

  • i have to watch this at 3am cuz this song is one of the only things in tha world that makes me cry cuz of how it reminds me of my childhood and how innocent me and everyone i grew up with was, no one thinks like this anymore, love is viewed as weak this shit is too real i cant stand it, i live content but not with love i need that shit i get hella sad watching this

  • Hm, so I'm not the only one. That's comforting to know. Thanks.

  • Here's a fact, did you know that William Windom was the voice of Uncle Chuck in the "Sonic The Hedgehog" cartoon? i mean geez can't believe it was Puppetino.

  • can u find this soundtrack somewhere? you're a star is a great one! i doubt it though

  • I am very grateful for finally being able to find this movie again. I watched it in the theater when it came out and every time it came out on TV. I have been looking for it on an off for atleast 15 years. I'm 33 now, but the movie is still really a wonderful story, much better than the original.

  • This Pinocchio blows the Disney version away!!

    I love this song!!!

They seriously need to put this out on dvd, hopefully in widescreen and with the VHS cover-The VHS cover was beautiful

  • ops sorry for the double post ^^

  • I remember watching this movie when I was little. I was born in 1987 and I remember seeing this when I was 4 or 5 years old. I remember another very old movie, one that had lots of music and had a smoking and coughing frog singing some "he's bad, so bad" music, then the people in that animated movie had to kill some boss in the end in some ruins. I remember it only vagely, it was out around this movie's coming out too. Anyone has a clue?

  • That other movie would be called, "Happily Ever After". That frog would be Scowl, who is actually an owl, and that some boss would be Lord Maliss.

  • Sort of like how the recent "Hulk" movie was a reboot without nothing to do with Ang Lee's movie.

  • This was supposed to be a sequel to disney's movie. But, disney would not take the film idea, so it was marketed as a separate film.

Dissapointing, because this would have been a larger release, and a bigger success. Or maybe not, because it's too damn dark for it's targeted audience. I personally don't like the movie too much, it's not bad, but the first one is slightly better.

  • great one thanks for uploading this masterpiece! *****

  • Wow great stuff thanksfor uploadingthis love thebit Pinocchio use his nose to open the door!

  • Well they certainly had been going back to classic animation with "Enchanted", i mean their coolest last disney movies were "Mulan", "Emperor's New Groove" and "Treasure Planet".

  • Ok, but Enchanted had about 10 minutes of animation out of the whole movie.

  • Now they don't even do classic animation anymore. At the end of the 90s, even Disney made the complete switchover to - *gasp* - computer animation!

    /me vomits.

  • Woah! I just listened to some of Rickie Lee Jones's (the voice of the good fairy) music from her previous albums, and she actually has a good voice and is pretty talented. This makes me wonder why her vocals aren't up to par for this song. I will say however, that after listening to this song over and over and the fact that it is slightly off gives it a sort of charm.

  • Although the good fairy sounds drunk in this movie the music and lyrics are so great that you can actually get past that. Maybe she was the director's daughter or something. Anyway, I was about 8 years old when I first saw this movie when it first came on television and it scared the heck out of me. It's great to see it again.

  • I love that Fairy Godmother song, she sure could sing ha better than me at least! Thank you so much for posting this, made my night!!!

  • Does anyone remember Filmation's sequel to "The Wizard of Oz" called "Journey Back to Oz"?

  • hey wasn't this in the original Pinocchio movie as well? The Blue Fairy sang it... I think. Or was THIS the Blue Fairy??

What a waste of a great song-- the vocals are horrid, mannnnnnn.

  • glad that i got to see it one more time.

  • drugs have apositive side to them too. look around. we are flying , going to the moon, writing beautifl songs and so on.

  • That's cause Rickie Lee Jones was doing heroine at the time.

  • LAAAVE, IS THE LEEAIGHT INSIDE YAOUR HEIEART! WHEN YOU STAUMBLE IN THE deeAARRk! This girl sounds like she's wasted - or at least a burn out. :) "Made entirely in the USA" Remember when cartoon companies liked to pay Americans for work! Via con dios Filmation, we miss you.

  • @Doorhenge LMAO!!! loved your rendition. LAAAAVE ahahaha

  • Yes, the film has gained a small following in recent years.

  • So? who cares if it flopped! it went on to become a cult animated movie.

  • This film only made $3,261,638 at the box office domestically and only $3,418,605 worldwide against an estimated $8,000,000 budget.

  • I got it Malasawas ! already:)

  • mglawik12... i converted it :-)

  • oh, i can't do that... could You send this file to some website? .. rapidshare for example?and then just drop a line:)

  • Hahahahaah i love it too... is Rickie Lee Jones...right? Maybe you can find this song in emule... ares something like that... :-)

  • can someone send me this song?

  • Does anyone know where I can find an MP3 of this song to listen to, please? Just drop me a line. Thanks.

  • oh thank You BabyFantasia for answer to my post! i can sing now!:) already!:D ♫♫♫

  • thank you so much for posting the lyrics. I wanted to sing this song at an event. I'm a guy but I know it will sound just as beautiful:)

  • Oh, you are so welcome. And I just noticed I made a couple of typos

  • it's "*where* your freedom has to start"

  • and "feel this light *OF* love will set you free"

  • Hehe. So sorry about that.

  • Ah, this movie brings back memories...... I cannot thank you enough for posting this!

  • "You have heart and soul enough."

  • be good and please...write a lyric :) i cant understand couple of words:(

  • "You have heart and soul enough. You need them both when life is rough, but nothing works without love so let love guide your way. You are free to go and be whatever you may want to be, but when the night surrounds you remember what I say.

  • Love, is the light inside your heart when you stumble in the dark. If you'll only let love shine there's no deceiving. You'll find out, it's all believing. Love is the light inside your heart. It won't let life fall apart so keep on shining with your light everyday. And in this turning world when I see you again.

  • Well, I hope you still know what makes the heart flow. Love is the light inside your heart when your freedom has to start, and wherever you may be, feel this light and love will set you free. Look for the light still burning bright. Oh, love is the light inside your heart."

  • Hope that helps. ^o^

  • Thanks very very very much for the lyric.

  • Do you see that "MADE ENTIRELY IN THE USA"

How many companies are doing traditional animation in America? This was good for a non-international effort, like many projects of this kind.

Richard Williams, Don Bluth - not so fast

    French-Canadian co-productions usually

  • I have been trying to find this song for about 20 years. I think I was about 10 when this movie came out. It was so high-tech for its time. Still holds up today. The great thing about this song(and movie) is that it made me cry then and it still makes me cry now.

  • I have looked for this song for the last 19 years or so. It still makes me cry.

  • So your 33 years old and remembers this movie? Awesome! did you see this movie in a theater back in 1987? and did it disturbed you even that horrifying scene shown in part 5?

  • @Johnlindsey289

I'm 31, and I remember this movie. :) Good schtuff!

  • Does anyone have any original TV Spots or Trailer to this movie? that would be sweet!

  • hey people does anyone can make mp3 of this song? Where i can find a lyric?(i`m polish girl:))

  • Yeh that would be awesome now that this movie is finally getting the attention it deserves thanks to Youtube and it's cult following, yes i love both KH 1 & 2 and Disney did not make this movie but Filmation (makers of "He-Man"). Now Fan-Art of this movie on DevivantArt would be kick ass since there's only two which one has Pinocchio with the Emperor and one of the Emperor's face.

  • I happened to make a game out of this, using Game Maker.

  • Good one on that "mid-quel" Jal! :D

  • He wasn't ok, he was a filthy and evil bastard. I think it's about time someone should make more DeviantArt fan art of this movie since there are two over there.

  • Despite the fact he was a cunt in the film, I felt sorry for Puppetino in the end, Im sure he could have been a nice guy :D

  • Pretty song, but...Wow. Love, light, and heart. At least one of those shows up in any cliched soft credits song, and this has all three. That's a record.

  • Someone has the lyrics? Because i´m brazilian and i can´t understand some words...

  • Anyone thinks this movie is dark as Disney's "Black Cauldron"?

  • Dude dont be cared away this is a children cartoon

its not spouse to be dark

wher's villains but everithing is get well in the end

    everyone happy

and ofcourse every story has it dark side

its not the "Care Bears" you know

  • @Johnlindsey289 yep!!!

  • And did you know Pinocchio himself Scott Grimes was Bradly Brown from "Critters 1 & 2"?

  • Actually Lion King is inspired by Kimba the White Lion while Mulan is based on a Chinese legend and Oliver and Company is based on Charles Dickens's Oliver Twist.

  • Mula and Oliver i know. But about Simba, DIsney said that they creat, and Kimba is a just a coincidence...

  • He means that people thought the Disney version was the original story, but every wise person knows that the original story was written by Italian author Carlo Collodi. And he has a point, I mean that's what the United States of America is all about, Right of Free Speech.

  • Only an Idiot will think that Pinocchio was created by Disney! Disney never created their story line (exept Dinosaur, Lion King, Oliver and Toy Story)they only edit scenerio.

But I asked what "Jal8919536" ment, what goes with Secret of NIMH? the song?

    because it is not!

  • Disney creat Lion King, i think. I think Lion King is the only one story that Disney creat.

But Carlo Coloddi created Pinocchio, Andersen created little mermaid, grim created snow shite, perrault created Cinderela......

  • Toy Story is Disney. They also made a lot of original stuff with their last 2D movies (Lilo & Stitch, Emperor's New Groove, Brother Bear, Home on the Range. Atlantis would count if it didn't rip off the anime Nadia.)

  • Brother Bear is a old legend from the esquimo people, i think.

  • I did some research, when Filmation announced to make theatrical big screen sequels to fairy tale stories starting with Pinocchio, the disney company tried to sue them over the rights of the character. But Filmation's defense was a simple one as they argued that the Puppet character was not made by Disney but was in the public domain written in a book serial by Carlo Collodi and was made into different movies over the years then Filmation won the case.

  • If anyone can make a good-quality MP3 of this song by Rickie Lee Williams, please drop me a line. Thanks.

  • Yeh i know, the scene with Puppetino turning Pinocchio into a puppet nearly makes this more of an animated horror movie. This movie along with the 1978 Anthony Hopkins dummy horror flick "Magic", "Making Contact" (another evil dummy movie)" and "Brave Little Toaster" scared the living hell out of me when i was little in the 80's.

  • This movie should've been rated PG. All of that treacherous peril is too much for a G-rated film.

  • The same goes for Don Bluth's "The Secret of NIMH" (1982). ;)

  • what do you meen?

  • Warner Bros. also owns the TV rights.

  • What a wonderful song *_* .. It remember me when i was a kid.. Really thanks for post it.. You're the best

  • Actually, "Pinocchio's Christmas" wasn't really considered as a sequel, because in the closing scene, the Blue Fairy explained to Pinocchio of all the dangers he must face in order for him to become a real boy.

  • Actually a mid-quel. ;)
