Email this video to every media outlet you can google, every politician you can find. dont look to WW2 or Korea vets for help because they dont consider anything after Korea a "real war" lol I got combat pay but wasnt on the "combat zone list". This is Bobby Hanafin with Veterans Today News Network. I sent you a separate message. First off you mention nothing about filing a claim with the Veterans Administration (VA). I know from experience that the standards for disability of Social Security are more stringent than VA. To the VA yours war wounds should have been obvious. MORE TO COME.

Congressman Bob Filner, a Democrat, was the Chair of the Veterans Administration committee and fought to add millions of dollars to the budget for veterans. Susan Davis, also a Democrat, was the Chair of the Military Personnel Committee. She, too, fought for additional money for the veterans. With this mid-term election, both Filner and Davis are out, and the freshman Republicans will be chairing these committees. It's unfortunate because Repubs are good at lip service and not much else.
Although I understand what you are saying, and quite agree based on research, I believe David and most young Veterans could care less which politico party controls the White House or Congress. It is an elitist attitude that as long as David gets treated right when he comes home, it is OK to exploit him and other volunteers. Note that neither side of the else has a large number of family volunteers to serve (wink).
@blhanafin I agree they could care less, and I think maybe they should start caring, as constant vigilance is the true cost of freedom. We all need to be careful of who We the People install into office. We are giving them power to control what happens to all of us. One would think that those who were dedicated to serving their country would be extra vigilant about the people who run our country.

This is what I feared as a Vietnam Vet is that despite the overwhelming support for our troops even from the Peace Movement, some pacifists will begin blaming the troops instead of the political leaders who send them in harms way. This shift is blame is more due to frustration within the Peace Movement for not being able to end the war(s) as quickly as Vietnam WHY NO DRAFT!

Once you are used up they throw you in the bin. Live with respect to human beings and other living beings. Dont follow the governments idea. They cover up a lot and are misleading you into believing you have enemies all over the world. Its not true. Youre nation is leeching on the globe for selfish needs and kills people when it doesn't work
You should be entitled to unemployment compensation from your state no questions asked, as long as you have all the documentation you need in order to prove that you got wounded in the service. Your state also has a Veterans Dept. that should be able to assist you. You should also be able to apply for G.I. Bill benefits under the Post 9/11 version of the program, and that should be a big help to you. Contact the VFW and the DAV in your city, and they can get the ball rolling for you.
David, sometimes the bureaucratic system does make you jump through hoops, but if you are persistent you'll get your situation straightened out in the end. There are a lot of resources available to you. The Disabled American Veterans organization helped me a lot when I got out of the Army, and so did the VFW. Contact your local chapters and they will help you get all the benefits you are entitled to. Also make sure you have all the paperwork you should have been given by the Army and the VA.
