I believe that a multi use approach to alternative energy is the key to environmental energy solutions.
For example TDP thermaldepolymerization could make clean coal , fossil fuels, bio waste and trash (of hydrocarbons) a useful supply of oil if proper waste stream reclamation was used.
The key there is to create localized electrical energy from this oil , use the oil to create cheap plastics or to create hydrogen for travel.
Also when a electric grid is used solar n wind can be added .
