  • Let's Go!

    Happy New Year 2012!

  • Looks like someone that keeps posting nasty things about our BEAUTIFUL Ben on these Cars videos has a problem with Ben. Thats ok...we know how talented and beautiful he was!!

  • Omg I love David's hair

  • i seen them at the hollywood paladium earlier this year, they rocked. I also seen them at the house of blues with Todd Rundgren they also rocked then! I never seen them with RIP Ben though... sorry to say!

  • Ben orr looks like the real faggot oompa-loompa he was. About 4'- 11'

  • @MyAccount4TrollingU Jealous?

  • Ben is so amazingly hot and so is Elliot!

    Rock It Boys!

  • OMG I LOVE 3:15 - 3:33; the ending Ben is so cool:) love this performance and Cruiser's great too!

    and R.I.P , Benjamin Orr. Gone 2 soon :*(

  • I only got to see them once back in '78, but they were a great great live band. Their sound was awesome. Areosmith, Stones and The Who all great, but I saw them live, and if you didnt know the songs, you wouldnt even know what the hell they were playing. Aerosmith ,saw them 2 times, terrible live band. But the Cras, man what a sound. Excellent band. Lots of memories.

  • I think their best songs were the one's Ben sang.

  • They were a Great band! I dig the great prog rock bands to .

  • Is there a band that has more HIT's then "The Cars"?

    wow they are greatness

  • Face it...you can see it everywhere. Orr and Easton had the connection. Sure, Ocasek had something to offer....they all did! I think there was a great divide between Ric's songs and Benjamin's. I just think Orr was more capable as a songwriter, and certainly a better singer!

  • @DickLodge68 It's true Orr is the superior vocalist... as a songwritter though unfortunatly there is no evidence, in the Cars anyway. Ocasek wrote pretty much every song with the exception of "Moving in Stereo" which was co-wrote with Greg Hawkes. Still though it doesn't knock down the talent of Orr by anymeans, his bass playing and voice are incredible and part of what makes this great band work so well.

  • @JWOLFPACK I read your post about "The Cars". The band agreed only to use Rik's lyrics. Benjamin was a superior songwriter, and was in different bands since 1965. He would have been 64 tomorrow. In fact, one of the reasons the band split up was because Ben got into writing more after his solo project, "The Lace" was released.

  • @kathyuk28 I've heard some of the "Lost Tracks" Even Angels Fall is one of my favourite songs I really hope it's released as a cd sometime all of that material :), had no idea Ben wrote those lost tracks as there isn't much info on them happy to hear that though they're great songs. What i ment by the comment was simply as documented in credits it all goes to Ric in The Cars for songwritting. I personally would've loved to hear songs wrote by Ben, the songs on "The Lace" are fantastic.

  • school bus music with the CARS!!!!!!!!!!!! 1981-1991 best yrs. of my life !

  • Still can't figure out the fuck y people listen to shit rap instead of this kind of music :( sooo sad I know, people don't hav good taste

  • That was scary good. Those were the days.

  • Benjamin Orr rocks - RIP

  • Is it just me or does Elliott Easton appear to be playing two different guitars in this clip? In some shots he's playing a red ES-355 (looks like an ES-355, anyway), in others, he's playing one with a blonde finish. Looks like they edited two different performances together.

  • This was back when bands were better live, what great musicians!

  • The Cars Inspired The Cartoon show Kid Video from the early 80's! I mean you can hear it on the show from 83-84 The Cars is such a legendary band it doesn't make any sense as to why there not in the Hall Of Fame!? They still perform as of 2011! Keep playing your hits they rule! Peace!

  • Never cared for Cars much in the 80's. Realized 5 or 6 years age that every time one of their songs came on the radio I would crank it up. Went out and bought all the cd's. Few singers could sound as good or better live as they did in the studio. Ben Orr is one of 'em. Gone too soon.R.I.P.

  • There is 8 people who don't know what it means when a girl says "Lets go !"

  • What a great song!

  • Great sound on this vid.Picture sucks but this is AWESOME performance.Damn!! Would have loved to been at this show.

  • The Cars "Still Rock til' this day!!....R.I.P. Benjamin Orr.....

  • Yeah! They're amazing genius artists . . .

  • Wonderful eyes !!!!!!! I miss Ben everyday.

  • Wow they look badass here! who said there not good live?

  • @TheMajorHawke love them but i saw them live (in '80-'82?) and they just came out, stood there, played so-so and left. very disappointing.

  • Big influence on me.Just great music all the way around!Ben is missed!

  • dear god. thank you for the cars. with tears in my eyes i say to you... thank you for the good things in life like the cars. thank you god!

  • Awesome band, still sounds great after all these years. Ben is missed.

  • a-o lets go. which came first?

  • Like many others, I went through my teen years being influenced by the

Cars. They are my favorite all-time band and watching these videos are just great.

Since the Cars finally got back together again and began touring this year, life became just a little bit better.

  • Kick ASS band.. Most under rated band of all time.. The cars music sounds new to me every time I listen to it.. Awesome!!

  • the downer comments make the bar graph look like what I am about to partake in ! Let's Go ! <=====~ ..

  • Kick ass!

  • absolute badasses . . .

  • love what they do when they hit that last note

  • Ben was so beautiful !!!!!!!! RIP Benjamin.

  • Miss You Ben

  • Why isn't Ben wearing the skin tight leather pants? LOL ;)

  • One of the truly underrated talents in Rock music...

  • This is priceless!!!!

  • fucking awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Ben got's an awesome voice. Before I didn't know he sang songs like "Drive" and many other songs by The Cars. I thought Ric sang those. Anyhow I think Ben's got better vocal talent than Ric not that I think Ric is bad or anything.

  • @RussX5Z Ric always said,if the song required a great voice, that would be Ben.

    What a doll he was!

  • Some hard rock I like. Perhaps it's because I can understand the lyrics, the lyrics are cleverly written, the rythm and hooks are great and the singers are on key. Just sayin'.

  • Comment removed

  • ABSOLUTELY! The Cars should have been in the Hall way before many lesser acts just because of their originality, Not to mention, their talent and popularity and THEY ROCK. I saw them in 1980 and they were great! Too bad Ben didn't live to see them make the Hall.

  • "I love the nightlife baby..."

  • it just goes to show you what buncha pathetic, willy nilly, suckasses is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are ...the Cars are one of the best ever

  • Looks like Benny Orr is wearing eye shadow

  • @pdynamics1 so what? even if he did, it is a lot less than just about any other big group in that day. he looked damned good with or without. with it on, he was going with the trend which most tried. without he was the most cool gorgeous man that lived. what do you look like? jealous?

  • I think Orr is the only singer I ever seen who chewed gum while he was singing. Great talents the whole lot of them!

  • @atomicinjun lol Ric did it sometimes too.

  • i am seventeen years old and this band means alot to me. I grew up listening to these guys because of my dad. they have great music. very stupid that they're so underrated.

  • The Cars 4ever!

  • Benny is gorgeous because all of us from Eastern Europe are!

  • YEAH!!!!!!

  • the fact that NOBODY has ever been able to duplicate the cars original sound, their number of hits, their influence on modern rock and new wave and the fact they were some of the BEST lyricists and musicians it is a farkin' shame they are not in hall of fame...their lyrics are truly some of the best ever written -- song after song...they knew how to turn a phrase moreso than just about any band ever

  • @chiefsjen SO TRUE, WELL SPOKEN! The Cars were awesome and deserve to be in the Hall for all the reasons you mentioned.

  • the fact that NOBODY has ever been able to duplicate the cars original sound, their number of hits, their influence of modern rock and new wave and the fact they were some of the BEST lyricists and musicians it is a farkin' shame they are not in hall of fame...their lyrics are truly some of the best ever written -- song after song...they knew how to turn a phrase moreso than just about any band ever

  • frickin awesome

  • wow!

  • Can you believe Ric is 61 now? Fuck I feel old

  • @MickScarborough I thought he was old then, Mick. It took them a bit of time to get together with the right people, instead of starting out young. Ben would have been ^SIXTY THREE this year! Sept.8, 1947. That is three years younger than my mom!

  • This was when they were really popular, look at all the people taking pics!! great to see a vid where the crowd is going crazy.

  • My oldest daughter was born the year this song came out

  • the cars really were masters of the 3 minute pop/rock song. The writting and arranging were always top notch. I always appreciated their skill.

  • vastly underrated band. Not ashamed to tell the world that this is my favorite American band..........quite an admission for a self-avowed aficionado of British prog rock!! And R.I.P., Ben Orr.

  • Wed love to have The Cars indicted in the RRHOF.....It will be just a matter of time...Unfortunatly those of us would LIKE to see it in out lifetime before were dead! LOL

  • Ric looks looks too cool for school... a vague Keith Richards vibe going on.

  • ROCK AND ROLL!! My favorite CARS song. This ROCKS!!

  • @KenDyerJr Same here!

  • They were way better than I realized back in the 80's

  • Fabulous song!

  • ew ric plays guitar really weird in this

  • They deserved better

  • @3soccerstars Little hard coming out at the same time as Tom Petty and Van Halen...All 3 bands were/are amazing

  • there arnt words to describe this band and there music

  • i like the night-life-baby! oh yeaaaaaaa great tune!!!! they don't write good time songs like this anymore. she's my frozen fire, she's my one desire!

  • I met Rik in Greenwich Village one day. I told him I liked what he did with Hanson. He thanked me. He was tall, lanky, nervous, pale and uncertain. Then he warmed to me and he was at ease. I told him I collected bootlegs by The Who. He said "so do I".

  • This sounds BETTER than the studio. I never EVER say that.

  • great underrated band

  • i'll never get tired of this song becuase its the bestes song ive ever listened to and i just love the cars i ecspecaily like benjamin orr.he has a great voice and hes so beautiful.omg the first time i heard or seen his face and heard his voice i fell in love

  • Love this song. I wish I had hair like that!

  • i think benjamin orr really hit the stage bad because he really got the stage goin and i think he looks really sexy

  • I saw them ---this tour..Lloyde Noble Norman Oklahoma...Icehouse open'd the show....I fucking LOVE the Cars.

  • Does anyone know where this was recorded? I saw them at Boston Gardem Mar 15th and 17th 1982.

  • The Cars are definitely a Hall of Fame band! Musically there were the best, and Ben Orr's vocals are amazing. He had one of those voices that sounded perfect live!

  • Did the guys ever do a duet or a switch off while singing . I can't think of any song. It was one or the other. It's simply amazing they were two bands in one. So cool to be a part of that era.

  • excelente!!!aki nace los inicios de la music electrónica de hecho!!!

  • The pre-chorus ("I don't want to hold her down...") is genius -- the guitar line, the floor tom, the way it just flows into "Let's go." Brilliant!

  • @DEFishback agreed!

  • Very good

  • such great music from these guys.

  • Que calidad de banda!! ya no habra mas este tipo de musica que pena carajo..

  • R. I.P. Ben. CHEERS!

  • Yes, let's go...back to those days!!! RIP, Ben.

  • This is BAD ASS!! I love this video!! RIP Ben Orr.

  • Ric always reminds me of a spider with those long skinny legs in those black leather pants. Just an observation.

  • They could'nt have done it any better, great sound and vibe. The way it was meant to be.

  • how tall is Ric Ocasek?

  • I think he is 6'6"

  • Cars, Devo and the B52s ive listened to from the 70s. still the most original, distinct and unique bands that have EVER come from the U S of A and by christ i truly thank all of them still the best after all this time m48 Australia

  • ???What???

  • Why aren't they in the Rock n Roll Hall of fame? So many lesser talents are.

  • @jah0524 no the Cars havent been inducted yet. There is a petition see the group page for details. Looking for fans to sign signatures.

  • @jah0524 You are so right. It's ridiculous that these guys aren't in the R&R Hall of Fame. They sold a zillion records, had 2 zillion fans and influenced 3 zillion other musicians. This song was written in the late 70's and we're still digging it 30 years later. The Cars are the definition of rock 'n roll.

It says something about the R&R Hall of Fame, and it's not good.

  • Give it time. There are a number of great musicians still not in the R&R Hall of Fame that deserve it. Anyway, another classic Cars song. These guys really inspire me, and I'd love to start a New Wave band someday.

  • Comment removed

  • @jah0524 you'd be amazed at who isnt in there....like The Small Faces and Lee Perry....now I like the Cars as much as the next man but there are so few inductees I could name 20 acts not in there....

  • @jah0524 You'd think if rap groups like the Sugarhill Gang can get in the hall of fame, The Cars should have been in on the first ballot! It's not like there was anything contreversial about this group either. They rocked! RIP BEN.

  • @jah0524 Yet Maddona & Donna Summer & Abba are more so-called Rock & ROLL?

  • @jah0524 same problem with Hall & Oates.

  • @jah0524 Because the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame is a sham. If it weren't, then these guys would be in it.

  • @mwtaylor1969 : Well said...especially when there are acts in there that aren't even considered 'rock'.

  • @jah0524 Dunno but they kind of got pretty crappy and purposely commercial after 1982. Their first two albums were stellar though.

  • to me also...any color...any style..he was gorgeous.

  • I like to knife fight baby!

  • Ben R.I.P.

  • his hair isnt any particular color. now.

  • I liked Ben's hair a bit darker as in this vid

  • to me he looked great with whatever color hair....

  • This is the best.

  • GREAT

  • what did they call those old school electronic pads that David Robinson has to his left??? are those Syn-Drums or something???

  • Comment removed

  • what effect pedal do they use for the beginning

  • is is sooo FUCKING PERFECTTTTTT!!!!

  • this is great !!!

  • American, HOOAH!

  • Ben's voice is awesome! I've always loved him! I like his hair that color too..

  • Lol. 'Pervert' for normal human behavior.

You're messed up in the head, child.

  • It's Ben Orr singing, and he's dead.

  • Yeh I know.

    I always liked Benjamin Orr.

Pancreatic cancer sucks, by the time they find it, it's too late.

    RIP

  • "17" is a grey area.

  • So is Area 51.

  • touche

  • if you don't like it don't watch it !

  • @whitewitch8 , yeh but I do like it.

  • This ROCKS!!! I love the CARS!! I posted a couple of my CARS videos for your enjoyment. Peace!!

  • Wow, haven't seen this one! What's more, the song sounds even better in this live performance! They sparkle it, I think :)

  • dunno if I'll ever get this engine started...but we have to meet as many people as the view has met

  • Thanks!

  • Oh, yeah, they're great live!

  • OMG, I love this song....Ben's voice is superb...

  • "She's so beautiful now, she doesn't wear her shoes..." What a great song, love Ben Orr's voice. Always nailed it live.

  • I forgot Ben sang this one.

  • whats a grandmaster flash?

  • @bobby401ca A rapper from the 70's. One of the rap pioneers.

  • It's called 'New Wave'.....

  • @katie180574 Sounds like great rock n roll to me!!!!

  • What's with the silly accent they put on... aren't these guys American? Are they trying to sound English?

  • I don't know why you think they're trying to sound English. I don't think he sounds anything like a Brit. And it's more of an affectation if he's actually doing something intentionally, which I'm not convinced he is.

  • They are "overpronouncing" words, like the Brits do.

  • Hmm.

  • They are American, and Benjamin seemed to adopt an English undertone to his accent when he sang, due to being a fan of the Beatles etc, that's all. A lot of Brits adopt American accents when they sing, no one seems to comment ;)

  • Ben grew up speaking Polish and Russian as that is where his parents were from.

  • @kathyuk28 I believe was Czech - Russian.

  • Oh My God!! This vid makes me so happy!! The best one I've seen of this song!! Makes me wanna put my skates on!! What a great band!! Miss them and Benji...the hottest man ever!! Yum-yum xxooo

  • ben the best! rip .....miss forever!! great voice

  • Great song. Great story. Great musicians!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sitting here tapping my foot to a 30 year old song.... STILL GREAT ! Thanks Ben....:)

  • Ben WANTED to reunite with the Cars. But it was Ric who didnt follow through. Ben WANTED to do it for HIS FANS it wasnt about the money....

  • absolutely.

  • The Cars not being in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame shows what a crock it is. Though I'm a metal fan too. And metal gets the serious short end there.

  • your 100% right tdkdgh, they were and are one of the best new-old wave bands, but this so called rock and roll hall of shame--madonna? nor rush (UNREAL) , one of the best band ever, what fags.

  • agreed man, lots of crap bands in the hall while worthwhile groups were ignored.

  • ...and to think they let non rock acts like Grandmaster Flash in, it's just insane.
