@donottrustpropaganda I can and will go head to head with you on ANY of the so called scientific 'miracles' of the qur'an - they always require tenuous interpretation and in some cases are simply fraudulent.

the simple fact is that they had no special knowledge, they just (often poorly) collected together available facts - that covers most of them. the rest rely on interpretation of allegory as tenuous fact.

the qur'an is a historical document written in fairy tales - nothing magical.

I've listened to many of these recitations. I find them somewhat spiritual to listen to. forgive my ignorance (am not muslim/islamic) but what is with the frequent pauses in the recitations?

@texastroll . Actually quran is the word of Allah and Allah told many stories of the previous nations to our Holy Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Uopn Him) and these pauses/stops mean when you are talking to some body and then you stop and then you talk. same is here. Hope you understand what i mean.

@texastroll Dear Brother . . . reading Quran in best possible vocals, phonology, and with its proper grammer  while keeping respect and regard in the view is called Qirrah. Pausing is one of the the norms in Qirrah. Its like when you takl to some one with highest level of regard and respect you just dont keep talking. You talk politely and with pauses. Same situation here. Hope i helped you to understand.

One night we pray Isha prayer few of us. There was this person, simple attire, very soft spoken, lead the prayer. The person who was accompanying him requested him to recite. We did not have a regular imam, so we always feel for it. Without much hesitation, he started to recite....... a beutiful melody.......

I felt like I have heard this voice some where!

I reckon a personally there's no such thing as world's best unless u include everyone ever!, which is very unlikely. But hey for the sake of argument i'll let it pass. I believe what makes a Qari truely great not how long he can hold his breath or notes he hits, but someone who reads it so well the Quran really goes through your heart like abdul basit. He makes me remember my childhood and makes me wanna be a better muslim. I have this idea like i wanna be a sheikh someday! it's weird..
